It would be nice if that was the case but he walked away from Velencia when we came in for him. Cracking guy is Rafa, but if the right offer came in he would be gone, and no one could blame him.
Don't think he'd leave us mid season tbh, though I wouldn't blame him as you say. He's only got a year left to ride out, loves everything about managing us apart from the cunt of an owner, it's relatively close to his family and another season beating the odds wont do him any harm if he does move on. By all account he's completely focused on Newcastle's season. Ideally, he says, he'd like to stay here for a long time because of our obvious potential but it all depends on the ownership situation. No Mike Ashley and the club could be an excellent project for someone like Rafa. He's been offered a 5 year deal and a 1 year extension but it's a game of politics atm. If Ashley does want to sell (which I don't believe as I've said numerous times before), Rafa is his main selling point. He loses him and our price plummets. Local journo's reporting Rafa is essentially being blackmailed. Sign a deal or get no money to spend, which would explain why we've gone from a reported £50mil+ budget to having to sell to buy. Power struggle and that like his Liverpool days. If we somehow manage to get a new owner, he'll stay for a good few years yet imo.

I seem to remember something similar to the above was the beginning of the end of Hicks and Gillett at Liverpool. Correct me if I'm wrong. Hoping for anything that gets that piece of shit as far away from our club as possible.
