Of course the club will be thinking positive for the long term and plan as if you will be a Premier league club but like us (considering building extra tiers at the Vic..) the danger is relegation would lead to less sell outs etc.

Mind you with the money gained from our Premier league seasons we can probably take the risk!

Won't be like when Bradford basically built 2/3 new stands then got relegated and almost went bust...

No news on how big yet. Personally I don't think we need more than 16-20k to start with (probably on the lower end of that spectrum to be honest). The fact/threat remains that if and when Eddie Howe moves in we probably won't remain a Premier League club much longer.

Leaving Dean Court will be a bit of a wrench; the hope for me is that this is a bit of a play to get the stadium owners Structadene into selling discussions. But in typical Bournemouth council behaviour, they seem to be resistant to ground expansion so a move seems somewhat inevitable (the same council who wanted arse all to do with the club until we got into the Premier League, interestingly).

It'll be interesting where we actually identify to put this ground, I want to avoid and out of town scenario like Brighton, or a soulless bowl like so many new stadiums; but with a rapidly expanding town and so much greenbelt land we're a bit short of options. Presumably the board have a number of options but it would be good to hear a few of these plans.

The idea of a football club playing at 'home' in a stadium nowhere near the City, Town or area from which they originate and take their name just seems completely fucking bizarre to me. On a temporary basis whilst renovation on a stadium (or a new stadium is built) is understandable. But a permanent move? A club is then losing most of what makes them what they are in the first place as far as I'm concerned and it would be a damn shame to see it happen to a club like Bournemouth.

We've been banging our head against a brick wall with Bournemouth Council for 12 months just trying to increase Dean Court to less than 15k. Between the dual issues of us paying rent to landlord on the current site who will not sell up for seemingly any price, and the Council wanting to block anything that increases AFCB's footprint in a Park - maybe a blank sheet of paper elsewhere is the only way? Certainly the only way to much beyond our current capacity. Will be gut wrenching to leave the club's home since 1910 - incidentally built before any of the local housing or the parkland was designated as such.

If we do pull it off, hopefully it's nothing too crazy. High teens to 20k or so would be should be the limit, smart but still fill-able for us with top flight or big games, and if and when the club inevitably isn't top flight, not an empty white elephant and still reasonably full most weeks.

Thinking it through, perhaps something alongside the A338 currently 2/3rds of the way redeveloped, the third phase of which will include a couple of new junctions, is one obvious place. But that's 5 miles out of the town centre, 2-3 miles away from our current site, and currently pretty empty. We're basically going to become Reading in that sense. Depressing.

Though ours came out of necessity rather than choice. I'm sure if we had more time we would have had a better spot. £1 for lots of land on the outskirts of Reading was always going to be the best short-term solution. Even very vague talks about us leaving our current site in maybe 10 years or so once the area gets developed and the football ground becomes out of place, in a different way.

I'm sure if you waved enough money the company owning the stadium would sell it to you. They know how much you make from being a Prem club though so can charge what they like.

Maybe it is a negotiating tactic and the landlord will drop the price when another option is on the table.

But It'd be pointless to throw cash at the landlord if the Council won't let us expand much at all anyway, because of the Park. It'd be wasted money * that may as well be put towards a new site. Much as I want us to stay. Talk about mixed feelings.

Had a quick look at google earth. A338 looks the obvious option but the proximity to the hospitall be a concern. They would need to beef up the B3073 road that takes you towards the airport. Looking at the layout of Bournemouth the traffic must be an absolute bitch.

You should go beyond 20k though whatever you do if only to manipulate FFP. We're hamstrung at 20,000 and need an expansion rapid or we'll only punch above our weight so long. New bowls are nothing new anymore and the understanding of what makes a good one is now well understood. If you're concerned about not filling you can could play it safe by building for 18,500 with the ability to accommodate 25,000 with temporary/pull out seating. I'd go beyond that though. A well to do area like Bournemouth could easily cash in on the momentum a new ground gives a club. If you can exist as a 'yo yo club' until completion date then I think going big will take you to that next level of being an established PL club, similar to Stoke. I would aim for 30,000. Pretty sure FFP doesn't count towards building a new ground, Maxim has an opportunity to absolutely rake it in if he plays his cards right. There will be lots of families in & around the area with higher than average disposable incomes that are locked out of Dean Court, with the right pricing & marketing you'd easily fill out 30,000 for the majority of games imo.
