...off other Championship clubs in the summer, realistic ones please in terms of transfer fees and wages.

Slim pickings for us really, most in our wage bracket would just be unwanted shite at bigger clubs.

Ajayi & Vaulks spring to mind at Rotherham, both been decent performers in a struggling side, both have a year left on their deals. Would hope we're taking a look.

Luca Connell looks a prospect at Bolton, no idea what he would cost but surely wouldn't be mental money.

Gwion Edwards at Ipswich has shown glimpses too, think he could do well at this level in the right team.

Might not be possible if they stay in this division but i'd also like to sign Malik Wilks from Leeds, impressed at Doncaster and might be surplus there.

Vaulks and Connell two of the ones I’d have said.

Bayliss at Coventry, Roberts at Leeds if they go up. McLean from Norwich would be superb.... we need central players. For wide players, Adomah which I think will happen anyway and would fucking love Jamal Lowe from Pompey.

Palmer, Da Silva and Kalas permanently also.

Someone will likely get Lee Gregory on a free this summer

Jamal Lowe from Pompey would be great, or James Justin from Luton.

More likely we’ll go out and buy some players from abroad.

We need a lot of CM players, the rest of the squad looks alright now but once we sell a few we’ll need some more bodies in in most areas

Quite a few of our fans have mentioned him as someone they'd want. I had no idea he was 30 now, would be a decent free transfer for us.
yeah, he is a sort of Waghorn type player. Doesn’t score many but great first touch and first rate vision. Partner him with a goal scorer and you’re laughing.

Would take Gestede or Fletcher from Boro, but the former turned us down last minute in January. Would also take Matt Smith from QPR but don’t know what the situation will be there with him over the summer.

People have mentioned Gavin Whyte from Oxford. Can’t say I know much about him. I imagine we’ll take a look at Charlton’s Lyle Taylor if they don’t come up. Big bloke, started his career here and old enough that we can probably get him for under a million. Seems to tick all of our boxes.

Think it was SF actually on PNE-Online who said he plays best as part of a 2 whereas we only play 1 up top usually. Might be a non-starter on that basis.

He can play up on his own, but won’t score enough for a top half side there imo

Ajayi and Vaulks will definitely be off next season when we go down and Preston is probably a realistic destination tbh. Both worth over 5 million combined imo though.

Depends how we define fellow clubs... From the 24 in ours now that are realistic

Vaulks
Yiadom
Powell (not my choice but told Bruce keen)
Bowen (too pricey mind)
Marshall (please just please)
Hourihane (if Villa go up)

If we lose some I expect the following are wanted.

Reach (big fee)
Bannan
Hooper (OOC but heard MLS)
Westwood (please no)

Realistically, Nolan and Edwards at Ipswich, Connell and possibly Olkowski at Horwich.

The players we’ve signed from other Championship clubs in January have largely done well, so hopefully we’ll have the same luck in the summer.

If Pompey don’t go up I’d love to take Lowe and/or Clarke but I suspect both will be well out of our price range.

Would like Clarke also if Kalas doesn’t sign.

Bannan maybe if Wednesday are cutting their cloth. Stacey from Luton though may well follow Jones to Stoke. Bobby Reid.....

Not planning to raid any of our players again are you!?!

Tbf, you’ve taken our two best ones...What’s your opinion of Stockley now he’s been there a few months?

Smith is likely to be moved on. Got the best goals per minute ratio at our club, but he isn't fit enough for 90 minutes but doesn't want to be sub. Limits you to very route one.

He's well liked here, great link up, doesn't get bullied by anyone and shown good poaching instincts. 4 goals in the equivalent of 7 games if you add up the minutes he's had on the pitch.

A very good option but his lack of pace means he probably won't be our first choice striker, will definitely play his part though. In today's market, he looks a bargain at £750k.

I'd love Alan Browne from Preston woefully underrated because of Pearson by folks who don't watch them regularly, looks a proper player but more discipline than his team mate.

Different players though, Browne couldn't do what Pearson does, protecting the defence and dictating play, while Pearson doesn't have the finishing ability to play the '10' role like Browne. Both badly missed when they're not available.

12 goals this season, you couldn't afford him pal.

Oh I know we couldn't afford him due to the bollocks of FFP but he would be my pick if we could. He deserves better than Alex Neil, everyone does.

Ha, what you on about? Alex Neil is the reason he's hitting double figures and other clubs want to sign him. Plenty of players have noticeably improved under him, Robinson another prime example.

Certainly doesn't deserve Bruce, developing young players definitely isn't in his repertoire, he'd just go for an expensive loan instead, or Glen Whelan.

Would you be paying £10m+ even without FFP?

Just an irrational hatred of Neil and his shit house tactics at time, maybe just when you play us but he is such a whiney prick despite his team playing the dark arts at times.

If we could I hope we would, we need that type of player, lack goals from midfield without Kieran Lee.

Thought both manager's comments were pretty fair on Saturday.

Always thought Neil came across as more miserable than whiny but opposition fans see things differently, I've never been keen on that Dean Smith at Villa.

Shame about Keiran Lee, was class once upon a time.

Dean Smith is a bell end.

Good to hear and he definitely is a great poacher of goals. So many of his goals for us were ones where he worked some space at back or near post and slotted then home.

His lack of pace was always going to be a limiting factor in how far he can go. I suspect he’s at his top level now, being a Championship squad player but I’d expect him to get around 10-12 goals minimum if he’s rotated.

Stockley seems to have been around forever but is only 25 apparently, remember him coming through at Bournemouth, looks very lively.

Westwood off our neighbour's on a free would be funny. In all seriousness were gonna need 3 or 4 good signings and the 2 good loans. I dont doubt wilder can keep us up though on a small budget again.

Purely financial I'm told, it's his last contract or so so wants a decent wedge and we can't match it.

Reading back through this thread, I see some are coveting James Justin and Jack Stacey. For me, it would take at least £6m to sell the pair. Would Brentford, Bristol City and such like be as attractive a prospect being in the same division now. There was a stat a few weeks ago that Stacey was literally off the charts in comparison to other U25 L1 full backs.

For us, I've honestly no idea who we'd target. Top players in League One for teams who won't be at this level won't come cheap either.

I saw something in the last few days that we're going to sign Josh Willis, the Coventry captain and also saw something about us talking to Aiden McGeady. We were also definitely talking to Graeme Shinnie, Aberdeen captain; his brother plays for us currently. I'd also like us to try and take Eunan O'Kane back if he gets back to fitness.
