The NL play off final won't be apparently played at Wembley this time though?

It's being played on Hackney Marshes apparently. All in one day.

Anyone from the London area who remembers Danny Baker The Game from the early nineties that followed a Sunday league on Hackney Marshes? Quality.

I heard about it on a podcast last year, and watched all 6 episodes of it on Youtube - it was absolutely outstanding.

The Palios clowns as you call them are amongst the most respected owners in English football. Can the same be said about that scruffy unwashed snide that owns your club who is on such a huge ego trip that he enforces his own dietary habits not on only the players, staff and the very few fans your tacky little club has but also on any away fan who great misfortune to visit your little shed of a ground ? And by the way I will now hi jack any thread I see your name on to show my complete and utter contempt for Prick Parry and his cronies just to wind you up.

There are a couple of very decent chippies nearby, and people are free to bring food in to the ground if they want.

Whatever though it's got fuck all to do with this thread, much like Tranmere fans hijacking a thread to continue whinging about their relegation blaming everyone but themselves.

My memory was that it was on about 11.30 on a Friday night, so I used to get home from the pub and watch it. It is hilarious. If you have not seen it try and find a copy on YouTube or wherever.

In Vince's defence - no one makes you buy the vegan food at FGR's ground.
Very true...just like nobody makes you smoke, drink excessively or take illegal drugs...but lots of people do. I have eaten quite a few times at TNL and found the food to be tasty and wholesome, even better in the knowledge that it isn't packed with e-numbers or meat of a quality that you probably wouldn't want to find in pet food.

The big lad who plays up front who chased a ref with a football boot is absolutely outstanding.

They need to do something like it again to be honest. Just do a random Sunday League game somewhere in the country every week.

Just to cheer up Exeter and Cheltenham fans

‘Clubs that traditionally wear red-and-white-striped shirts have a lamentable record. Between them, Brentford (8), Exeter City (2), Lincoln City (6), Sheffield United (8), Southampton (1) and Sunderland (4) have competed in 29 play-offs and none of the sorry six have won a final.’

It was Baker with a local ex-player sitting on scaffolding that did me in.

Yeah, people complain about co-commentators now, that bloke was dreadful.

Baker wasn't that bad to be fair. I might have to watch it again.

The buses for the cup final as well :brill:

In a way I'm grateful for that defeat. Going into those playoffs I was convinced we'd win them because we had been imperious in them in the previous two attempts. Losing brought me back down to earth.

Defeat to Northampton the year later was a much worse feeling. It's why I'm convinced they're going to beat us this time as well.

We have won a play off final, and it was even at the new Wembley, weirdo. Why the (2) in brackets when we have been in 4 finals, as well.

The article that's taken from refers to Football League playoffs only - it doesn't include tinpot playoffs.

Well his post is factually inaccurate. Perhaps he should've continued to caveat his comment to cherry pick and rule out certain scenarios so it made sense.

You call it tinpot but we had more at our final that we won at, than most league 2 finals in recent years.

Remember when you claimed to be a ref in the Southern Prem at the age of 14?

I didn't, and you've already made yourself look a tw@ with basic arithmetic skills of that of Harvey Price. I'm surprised you want to continue to bring this up, given you have already shown the entire forum you cannot take simple figures away from other figures - I think I learnt to subtract the basics before I was even in year 3.

Absolutely spot on. My maths is incorrect. You are 25 years old. You said this in the ‘athletic article’ thread (if you want me to I will provide a screenshot of this?). As above, you claim you have been a ref for 12 years in the Southern National League with your level 2b qualification. Therefore, according to you, you were 13 not 14. My bad.

Devon Lad banged to rights for talking utter bollocks.

Some things never change.

You never know, if he ever does his 2a level qualification then he might even be seen running the line at an EFL ground near you soon.

Just imagine a 13 year old fantasist from Exeter trying to control a bunch of decent semi pro footballers. Would be absolute carnage.

I do wonder how he finds time to be a ref, because he also stated that he has a football banning order until around December time, which I am assuming he picked up whilst following his beloved Exeter City. How does he ref and go to Exeter games at the same time? Unless he beat up one of the semi pros he was reffing, and got banned for that.

Hahahahahahaha you will be pleased to know that I have managed to work out that the fantasist is even lying about his *checks notes* FOOTBALL BANNING ORDER. I kid you not. I will post the screenshots below for your amusement.

Basically, he claims to be banned until December 2020, but he also claims to have been at Swindon away on February 1st 2020 (he also claims to have been at other games as well but CBA with screenshotting all his fantastical posts). A football banning order lasts for a minimum of 3 years, meaning if his fantasy was actually true, he would have been banned around December 2017, so couldn’t possibly have gone to the games he claimed he went to, unless he is lying about his banning order of course.

Now, I believe people can get banned by the clubs themselves, without going through the courts. However, these bans are always for at least 1 season.
