An FA Cup tie I think we can win if we play the right formation.

Plymouth may have thumped us this season and doing very well but we can play quite strong away from home and never know what we shall get.

I think I've got close now to the actual team I'd like Curle to play each week, but he won't play it I doubt.

but I have a feeling Ellis could be a massive massive signing for us, but we need now to work the correct defenders with him and it may sort our back line....FINALLY.

my team I'd like is....

Gillespie
Miller Atkinson Ellis Gillesphey
Gilliead Kennedy Dicker Grainger
Ibehre....whichever

I think that side would grab top 3 and you can rotate joyce/Hery into central midfield and rotate Wyke/Hope/Asamoah up front

of course no chance of that team, but I think we'll go 4-4-2 from now on and 3 at back if struggling.

Not think that centre back pairing lacks a bit of height and power?

I like Atkinson, but he needs a big strong guy beside him IMO. Ellis looked weak to me.

Raines/Ellis was too slow, I think TAH looks unfit and a shadow of how he was 2 years earlier and again it would be too slow.

It would be worth a try at the end of the day it can only be as horrendous as each week of the previous 5 years if it didn't work and a cup game isn't end of world if lost.

hope its not 1 up top, nowt to lose on this game should just go with our all out attack.

No Reid but other wise a full squad. We'll start a strong team, although to be honest none of the first team have been " fringe players" this season, they've all played their part. 2-1 Argyle. Jervis and McHugh from a corner.

You must have been doing your homework on us.

It's very likely we'll concede from a corner.

Even the most optimistic side of me can't see us even getting a replay here.

the key is to be only at worst 1 goal down when it hits about 60-65 minutes.

their biggest fear will be a replay, I think they'd even take defeat over a long slog up here on a Tuesday for a cup match.

if we're 1 behind late on I can see them dropping deep and if level I can see them try a 'win or bust' mentality.

the risk of a ridiculous horrible long trek replay is probably a big massive asset for us for this game.

I 100% agree. I love the magic of the FA Cup but I would rather lose than draw this game!

The only positive I can muster is that our performance at Plymouth earlier this season sounded positive and we were a bit unlucky, though we still lost 4-1. Ibehre returning would give us a boost, but I'm not sure this is his type of game.

Team I'd go with:
Gillespie

Miller/Atkinson
Raynes
Ellis

Gilliead
Hery
Dicker
Kennedy
Grainger

Wyke
Hope

Narrow loss.

If our approach to cup competitions so far this season is anything to go by, then I think we'll line up.

possibility for Jabo to get 20 minutes off the bench if fit enough, and Gillead for Balanta if Balanta isn't yet fit.

Whilst I think 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 is the way to go at home, the 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 seems to have worked well away from home.

I wouldn't be surprised to see these tactics used in this game.
Wouldn't be surprised to see this, with Ibehre coming off the bench late on.

Gillespie
Atkinson Raynes Gillesphey
Miller Sweeney Dicker Kennedy Grainger
Gilliead Wyke

Subs: Hanford, Ellis, Troy, McQueen, Hery, Rigg, Ibehre

I'm not 100% on this, but I think I read that Bury aren't going to let Hope play in the FA Cup for us.

Who's that? Some guy from the youth team, or a loanee. What I want to know is, will Jabo feature.
Maybe the youth B team, same as that 'Degsy' or whatever he's called.

Bury have now allowed Hope to play.

Still no Ibehre.

Hanford, Atkinson, Ellis, Raynes, Grainger, Gilliead, Dicker, Sweeney, Kennedy, Hope, Asamoah

Looks like a 4-4-2

Resting Miller and Gillespie, but otherwise a strong squad and a strong bench.

Could be 4-3-3

Gilliead_______________Asamoah_______________Hope

Probably not 3-6-1 or 3-3-4

Someone just said on Twitter that Hope was 'utterly dreadful' last weekend and shouldn't be starting. He must've been watching a different game, or left at half time.
Miller is unlucky not to be starting, we've got a few decent options in that position now.

I reckon that could be 3-5-2, though there's a few possibilities. Hopefully keep it tight and 0-0 after 20 minutes and then attack with the pace in our front-line, and maybe grab a goal.

Yeah, Hope was outstanding against Yeovil... for some reason a lot of news sources mistook him for Wyke in assisting Raynes' winner. Was Wyke even on the pitch at that point?

I guess 3-5-2 could look like this

______________________Hanford______________________
_______Atkinson_______Raynes_______Ellis____________
__________Dicker____Kennedy____Sweeney___________
Gillead_____________________________________Grainger
_______________Asamoah_________Hope______________

But I've put the 'wing-backs' ahead of the midfield instead of behind it as you'd usually draw a 3-5-2. Because, if we're playing Gillead wide then we can't really consider him a wing-back, and this is how we normally play '3-5-2' anyway, you could argue we've yet to actually play 3-5-2 this season, we usually play 3-3-4. Would probably be even more accurate if you only had Dicker on that midfield line and moved Kennedy and Sweeney up in line with Gillead and Grainger.

The Carlisle United reserves are doing alright so far aren't they?

Hopefully we can keep this going. Although I'd still take a replay at this stage.

I agree, sounds like if Asamoah had his shooting boots on today, we could have been 3-0 up... sounds very similar to the League game down there, with the exception that on this occasion we've got a first half goal.
