Guaranteed they are making a big loss, but they havent ever been profitable. If they dont go up with their squad it will be a farce.

Their owner at least now seems to vaguely care about football which is more than can be said for Harry Plotter, their previous prick. Just another club that think they are bigger than they actually are... :fing:

Oh and I wonder what team you support... You’ve had your moments, but you’ll always be in our shadow.

It’s weird, we got relegated but since Ryan Lowe has been appointed its the most positive the club has been for a long time.
It’s amazing how relegation can sometimes galvanise a club. New broom and all that. For some there is a continued downward spiral but for some it is the kick they need.

Only one thing galvanises a club - winning games.

This thread is hilarious.

Apologies to the Crewe chap but we certainly won't be going anywhere any time soon.

500k for Ladapo and we've had a couple million in sell on % of youngsters, plus our big shiny new grandstand to boost our corporate income etc. Plus the loss of Carey, Lameiras, Ness, Fox etc we are most certainly more than viable as a football club at the moment.

Sorry to disappoint you all!

Plymouth will always have potential and I'd imagine a good purchase for any new owner if that came around.

Decent catchment area, without 3 of the biggest clubs in England and the world within a 40 mile drive.
Good fan base, fairly recently played in the championship .. Pretty much what the rest of us don't have.

Plymouth will always be alright.

Far be it from me to defend the bumpkins down the road, but that is hogwash.
It's incredibly difficult to attract players down here, they will always prefer to be based in London the Midlands or North West.
I suspect in order to attract players you will need to pay above the market wage. And yes there is a big catchment. Of pensioners.

Hopefully Plymouth get themselves up into the Championship fairly soon.

Would be two typically lively fixtures in the league to look forward to.
I always did prefer Rovers.

We should be fine financially until and if we reach then the Championship. Then some very important decisions will have to be made.

It's not really "sustainable" if you wipe out debt by taking a huge chunk of equity in a business. You are still going to be accruing debt at the same rate as before, just now it's a different person who you owe.

I assume there are some Argyle fans who are accountants out there? I would love to see them explain how this qualifies as "sustainable business practice".

Looks and sounds good, going in the right direction. The majority of us, look on with envy.

Genuine Question: How much did James Brent put into Plymouth Argyle in from the beginning of this process in 2011 and beyond, after he sold the ground to the council for £1.6m?

Not a clue. Not much as Brent hasn't much cash - his assets are locked up in businesses.

What did you buy it back for?
1.7m in 2016 according to BBC.

Not quite, the additional matchday and non matchday income generated by the grandstand (see Exeter Chiefs) combined with the new ethos of not stretching beyond our means are leaning the club towards covering all it's costs itself.

Not following. How are we accruing debt? The debt is converted into equity, which the Halletts only get back when they sell, and they either get a profit or loss depending on how much they sell the club for. Yes, they might take dividends from profits, but there is nothing wrong with that surely.

No point replying to Devon Lad as the guys a clueless moron.
Exeter had a play off spot sewn up by last March and if they were to not make the play offs ‘It definitely won’t be Tranmere taking our place’ and last time I looked, Tranmere had got promoted via the play offs whilst Exeter didn’t even make them. :D

"The long-term goal of the club remains having sufficient revenue to match all its costs."

So, the Crewe fan does have at least a bit of a point then? Yes, you get top two crowds for the division but you are still overspending wage wise.
A smidgeon. This year is a bit unusual in that there have been a number of one-off costs we won’t have again related to the build, such as renting commercial offices for the white collar workers. We would have a better idea next year if Danny has a point or is talking rubbish.
