After a decent comeback victory at the weekend our tails should be up again. Terrible first half followed by a really good second half display.

We're a very inconsistent side, which I think will be the story of our season. We're either excellent or thoroughly average (and occasionally very poor). Once again, this fixture smacks of the typical Saturday/Tuesday hoodoo - we generally always mess up on a Tuesday after a nice win on a Saturday.

I think Oldham fans were expecting slightly better than what they have got so far but it appears that the appointment of a woefully inexperienced manager has set them off on a poor start. Their squad appears distinctly average from the outside, however that could be labelled at 90% of this league (including Vale).

It's such a poor league this year with no real standouts, so it's a real opportunity for an Oldham or a Vale to push for the top 6. It's all about getting the right team, consistency and a bit of luck with injuries.

I'm hoping for once that we turn up on a Tuesday night and actually fulfill some optimism - 2-0 Vale (Moore & Foley).

As per LeedsValiant, we can go from the sublime to the ridiculous, incredibly the last time we won an evening game at home in the league was 18 months ago against Crawley, always seems to be the damp squib after a decent result in the previous game. Oldham seem to be the draw kings W 1 D 6 L 2 so it will be an awkward game. The big question is does Daniel start after Saturday ? Realistically he has to but he is absolute pants when starting a game and is definitely a decent impact sub with a knack for a goal.

Won,t make a prediction but the emphasis has to be on attack as 3 points are crucial, draws are not that much use, Oldham can testify to that having lost the same amount as Burton but sit 12 points behind them in the table.

Just hope tomorrow evening i don,t have that same sinking feeling as the last 7 or 8 night matches at Vale Park ( League ) apart from the PNE game.

Big game with Sheffield United up Saturday although wouldn't shock me if we lost tomorrow then won that. If we can get three points we'd be in a nice position and the bad couple of games can be forgotten.

The line up will be interesting, I'd like to see "2.5 million pound Spurs target" lol Enoch Andoh start and think Uche should feature if going at them is the plan. Granted it sounds like Daniel caused havoc against Fleetwood but it's rare he does well. Guess AJ has left himself in a good position to start but that would no doubt be at the expense of Enoch.

My team would be Alnwick
Purkiss Streete Duffy Dicko
Moore Foley Grant Andoh
AJ Daniel

Feel AJ did some lovely one two's and is a clever player, Daniel has to start but as previously said he is gash as a starter.
Dodds was unlucky to play on the wing on Saturday out of position and again came the butt of criticism and being the scapegoat however i felt sorry for him played out there. 2.5 million rated whizz kid has to play as we are at home and maybe the rest wasn,t a bad thing as he was largely anonymous at Bury.

Don't for the life of me know why but I reckon we might pick up a point. 0-0.

We never win at home on a Tuesday night and we very rarely win 2 games on the bounce.

As with all the above, we very rarely string two decent results together but I still hope we've got enough to win tonight. For Once. For a change.

Was contemplating doing a half day at work and going to his but decided not too, a decision which I am now regretting as the women in my office have done nothing but talk utter shit all afternoon. Never ever have i wished i was in Burslem so much.

I wish I knew what we do in training because that's a forth goal from a corner in five games and given an awful Oldham side the lead. Our whole goal threat is on the bench whilst we huff and puff. Sort it out Page and get Uche on.

Seems Port Vale have had applied most of the pressure, but we could, arguably, be 2-0 up here as Higdon apparently missed a sitter on the stroke of HT.

We wont keep a clean sheet, Vale fans. Dont worry.

Will you want to sign Uche?

Seems to be finding the net for you a bit.

underwhelmed by another lacklustre effort. easily could been a couple down but a draw was fair. how many more teams are coming Vale and having 6 or 7 yellow cards. very cynical though ref hadn't much idea. neither side merited a win

Well take a point considering we played no out and out strikers for 60 minutes until big Uche comes on and then we probably should of won the game. Terrible goal to concede yet again from a corner which we conceded by Dicko trying to be clever and losing the ball. Frustrating as feel had we gone at that properly from the off the game was there for the taking.

They did it last season and was the same this season but luckily we made it count.

Not ruthless enough. We very rarely look like conceding many, whilst we rarely look like scoring. This will be the story all season. Oldham were bang average and hardly attacked, but we never had that killer instinct to create much.

I'm amazed that Oldham fans lacked confidence in getting something out of the game. This is what Vale do - get a good win on a Saturday and then are a complete let down on a Tuesday.

We only seem to wake up in the second half but if we'd have really hurried and hassled from the start of last night I'm sure we would have won. We give average teams way too much respect rather than going all out to win. We only made one sub which was ridiculous really - I thought we should try and win our home games?

I work in Manchester City Centre and don't finish until 6, and the wouldn't be out of the city centre until at least half past, would of been a push to say the least.

Cant moan at a point away but sounds like we had a few chances to win it and fluffed them which is disappointing. Need to start picking up some wins soon as drawing every game will see us go down.

I,d say a draw was fair result on reflection, i made comment yesterday that draws are no use, you have lost same as Burton but are 12 points behind them. Our manager says 4 points from last 6 he'll take it but sorry Mr Page a draw at home is no good as puts extra pressure on Saturday now.

I felt after a couple of bad results that four points from Fleetwood and Oldham would do but expected it the other way around. My frustration was had we started Uche we'd have likely won the game but decided at home to play Daniel (who's technically a winger) and AJ LS (who is a Dodds type player) so not starting a full on striker at home against a team near the bottom is crazy!

In fairness to all the Dodds haters too we probably missed him last night in that gap behind the striker at times.

I said exactly the same mate, and it isn,t often i have said that. Problem last night was he couldn,t drop Daniel after his cameo at Fleetwood and seemed to rightly give AJ another go but it didn,t really work and Uche now has to start against Sheff Utd.
