Ah of course you are right. I am delighted the ref decided to award Port Vale a penalty and wave away our appeals for a penalty.

But why would you be openly annoyed. 6 goals, 3 points, top of the league!

You really shouldn’t be worried about goal difference buddy Lol.

I’m sorry but Miller looks like a pub player to me, his touch is woeful, Kanu actually did ok, I really don’t like 1 up front though, ever.
Smurthwaite is the root cause of this mess, not that i’m defending aspin, today was laughable, but that twat is reaping what he has sown.
Chesterfield in waiting.

Look at that top three, Exeter are going to be a problem but Newport will drop off, must be good feeling for a Lincoln fan.

It’s annoying from Mansfield perspective, just gotta find that ability to hold on to a lead and we would be right up there.

Stand out thing for me about this result is that we have hardly looked like scoring from any set pieces in the games that I have seen this season so Vale must have been dire.

Kind of agree with wangle about the non award of our penalty, but mainly because the PV keeper could have seriously injured Freck with what looked like a foot up challenge. Will have to see it again with a better and clearer picture. Never liked Brett Huxtable as a ref, he couldn't wait to give Vale their peno!

With all the criticism and bewilderment at the team selection in the last 2 games I must do the honourable thing and heap praise on Lincoln.
Absolutely master class on demolishing inferior opponents, twice now this season

We were so abject it is embarrassing but the bigger picture is that our last 3 home games have been against vastly superior teams .

Thank goodness for Macclesfield and hopefully AN other before we become the new Chesterfield.

Well done Lincoln and Andrade stop being a twat as you have bags of ability so no need for your antics.

More numb than embarrassed.

Always worry about goal difference! You never know how important it can be. As I posted above, watching your captain getting blatantly fouled (go off injured because of it) and nothing given is frustrating regardless of the score.

Set pieces have certainly been hit and miss but I think we were spoilt in the NL with the amount we scored.

Also a shorter team, so that'll account for it, too.

Never mind the challenge, look at the gap he runs into!

The four goals from corners only half were headers, shocking!
No wonder Aspin has resigned, shocking stuff

He hasn’t, nor been sacked as yet... set up for draw at Oldham and lose by 3 or 4 then next week. Yay!

Re the pen claim, doesn't Brown just plant himself whilst trying to block the shot and the Lincoln player runs into him? Also the guy w the vid of it on twitter has literally the worst hair I've ever seen.

No one can touch Lincoln this season.

They might as well already be promoted.

If it's any minor consolation to Vale, you're the first team to score more than one against us in the league.

Just planted his foot IMO and the momentum takes their striker into him, should of been irrelevant as he should be scoring that. They did a bit of play acting at times which was pointless as it really wasn’t needed especially by the winger.

Need to see the third goal again too. That was comedy. Legge has been outstanding this season but today wasn’t his finest.

It’s Vale’s turn for s combination of ineptness, comedy and despair. Was Notts earlier this season, it appears it’s Maccs all season. Soon it will be someone else’s turn. classic L2, it’s just Football. Everyone at this level goes through it#avoidthestain

We are into a third year of despair! Relegated from L1 on the last day and following it with our joint worst season in our history...

Interestingly is the apathy, six years ago fans were fighting to get the old board out, coffin marches, protests pre and post game, Black and Gold till it’s sold etc... starved them out to force administration this time nothing... everyone just has lost the stomach for it.

We’ve had shambles for three years, something like 70 signings in three years, the foreign experiment, somehow sticking with Brown after relegation to mess up our recruitment that summer. Mess after mess after mess. Clubs dying on its arse.

Today sums it up really, Lincoln spending loads, backed by the chairman, on the cusp of a wave after the cup run and promotion and cleverly marketed it to keep the cling on fans from that run... I recall us absolutely battering them actually a few years back at VP, 2-0 after six minutes and we’d missed a penalty! 3-0 after 15 and won 4-0. Look at what can be done with clever ownership.

Literally a club going through arguably its greatest period against one in its worst and it reflected in the score line.

“If arguably its greatest period” (of its history) is top of L2, then that’s a sorry state of affairs. I feel a little sorry for Vale fans, sounds a little desperate but it’s nothing new. So many fans have been in almost indentical situations if not worse.

Imagine playing a season or two in the non league ? Yuk.

Football is about pride, passion, belief and spirit. Lincoln doesn't have a depth of history in the top flight but has a wealth of moments in the clubs history.

So would I rather be in County's shoes right now....or mine? Just had our highest away win since 1932, our best start to a season since 1987, our highest average home attendance since 1953...I could go on.

Doesn't make Imps fans any "better" than Vale fans, or Cods, or anyone else- but, after decades of stagnation occasionally sprinkled with short periods of joy, I'll take my 5 minutes of happiness right now over anything County will experience in the next 20 years.

It's a good point because I can see where you are coming from as it seems like different rules for goalkeepers. For example, if a player puts a cross in and the defender plants a leg early and takes down the player after the cross goes in, is that a foul? Pretty much all the time it is, but keepers are treated differently.

Keepers have to block the ball, had he gone down and wiped him out then it’s a pen, but he can’t really get out of the way so a collision is inevitable, outfield players if they ran out and make no attempt on the ball then it’s different and a penalty (although we didn’t get one against Tranmere when clothlined!)

Felt for a Brown actually, not much he could do about any of them and deserves better, top bloke and his passionate interview afterwards was good to see... just need the other ten to give a shit like that.

I do feel like the standard up the top end so far is way, way, way lower than last season - not that it matters to you if ya finish in the top three.

Tricky to comment as I've not seen all the teams play, but you could be right. That could be down to a couple of teams like yourself, county and Northampton underperforming so far on what was expected pre season. We have significantly improved from last year where we just battled our way to the playoffs. Coventry were the best team I saw coming to sincil Bank and obviously Luton and Accy were good teams. I imagine they would be at the top of the league this year as well, but that's why they got promoted.

So far I’d judge MK, Exeter and Lincoln as looking more impressive than Accy, Wycombe and Luton to be fair, that said we have Luton a beating similar to the one we took yesterday so got them on an off day. Accrington both times I came away thinking how did we lose that, they were clinical. Wycombe over two games against us had a good 20 minutes.

What I would say though is outside them three the rest look average.

Pretty poor when mods start trolling.

Port Vale looked a good side a at our place, one of the better teams we’ve played. Oyeleke looked quality and Pope and Miller are a good strike force at this level. They’ll be fine I reckon.

Pretty much what I was thinking. The top three this year would have been pushing last year's top three, and would likely have finished above them. After that its not a great league so far but that's probably down to underperformance from teams I expected (given their budgets and squads) to be up there pushing for automatic. Notts, Mansfield, im looking at you. It could be that the automatics are sealed off very early this year.
