We just got beat by a Furness XI made up of local league players and our own youth team. Bit embarrassing in that they ran our defence ragged in the second half.

We had David Fox from Plymouth on trial and he looked like he'd be a useful option - Byron Harrison however...

Lost 1-0. Sounds like we more than competed with the quality Portuguese side after going behind quite early on and but for the post and a super save onto the bar by the keeper, Bobby Grant could have had a long range double before half time. Tested out a new 3-5-2 formation and sounds like it went smoothly, so it’s good that Hughes is thinking about these things. Good first start from Barton too, showing composure on the ball playing in the back 3. Tharme being injured really does show the need for another centre half though and I’d sign up that trialist right now, even though Barton has played there in the past. Another apparent quality showing from Summerfield and Redmond and sounded like busy promising contributions off the bench from Harris & McIntosh too. All very positive by the sounds of it.

Is this Michael Chambers or a different triallist? He mostly played on the left of the back 3 for Dulwich. He took a gamble by declining a new contract to look for a higher level club. I think he's good enough to go at least one level higher than National South, but managers still looking to add someone at this stage are probably going to favour a free agent dropping down from the level above.

Looks as though they had their reserve team out.

Just beat Concord 4-0, interesting to see we had two full teams each half with 3 trialists playing, what a difference a year makes. Two squad players in Gordon and Bonds did not feature as given extra leave as they played in gold cup for Guyana.

Mixed. Some of the names played in league games, some probably upcoming youngsters given a chance and maybe some trialists in there too.

Whopped another Northern League team tonight this time 7-0, means absolutely fuck all considering the standard of opposition but it's good to see us scoring, second pre season game for me now, impressed with Toure when he came on, same with Jason Kennedy who is still here on trial, can't work that one out considering the amount of midfielders we have, be a good pickup for someone in this division if not us.

Boro on Sunday which should bring us back down to Earth.

That’s the one I believe. Looked very comfortable against a decent Fleetwood side. If he’s not asking for a ridiculous wage, I’d offer him a contract and a chance of possible first team football at a higher level. I say possible though because it’s not guaranteed he’d start if Lawlor completely recovers, but possible if we play 3 at the back. Could even turn him into a defensive midfielder, looking at his agility and composure on the ball.

Similar to Saturday's thrashing of CH Nomads, I think this fixture was more about helping out a local club we've good links with/have used their facilities, rather than having a challenge. However both games have shown that the squad have really kept up their fitness over the summer & we know where the goal is.

The forthcoming games against Curzon, Guiseley and Alty should give us much better preparation for the first game. Unfortunately our match at Mansfield has been called off on police advice.

2-0 win for our "first team" (but in reality our Reserves plus three players from the first team) against Ely City tonight. Certainly a much more productive game than on Saturday when our Reserves were run ragged. However, hoping to see some more first-teamers in action on Saturday, as they'll be needing the fitness ahead of another challenging season.

Thus far,
1-3 win V Halesowen
1-3 win V Blues U23
Both games subbed a whole XI off at half time, slightly balancing the sides, but we dont have enough senior players to play 22 squad, so youths, trials etc mixed in, cant really tell much, but would like to see our squad beefed out with a couple more and some loan players. Plenty of time though, good to see all but two from a great last season still here.

I think we’re like an asylum for him. He has secrets about the championship forum and needs protection.

Perhaps ;)

Could also let you guys know about a few potential loanees from Cardiff's youth/U23 set-up.

If Aaron Bolger becomes available, he would definitely benefit any team up to and including League 2. We have former Cardiff player Stephen McPhail to thank for unearthing him.

Beat Bideford 5-0 last night with goals from all of our strikers. 1 each for Reid, Duku and Koszela and 2 from the wonderfully named trialist Great Nii-Okai Evans.

Sounds like the same suspects still on trial for us. 4-0 win over Haringey - Mullings scored, Antony Jeffrey getting a good look in and Harry Pan scored a brace apparently.

Don't sign Panayiotou on the strength of a friendly performance - he's awful. One of the most over-hyped players we ever had (he signed from Dortmund! (second team)) and Paul Cox bigged him up saying he was the best striker he'd seen in training etc. Played more games for St Kitts than us, and when he did play he was always shit (except for a wonder strike against Gateshead).

Curzon Ashton for us tomorrow. Will be a bit more of a challenge than our previous 2 games this pre-season.

Well, after today's FA competition draws, we now know that our first competitive game isn't until the 17th of August when our league campaign begins (as we enter the FA Cup in the Preliminary Round this season rather than the Extra Preliminary Round). However, to the best of my knowledge and as far as the club have announced, our last pre-season friendly is on the 30th of July away at Peterborough Northern Star.

An 18 day gap between the end of pre-season and our first competitive game doesn't seem at all like ideal preparation, so hopefully we announce something to fill that gap soon.

Lost 2-1 to Chelmsford last night, Joe Quigley scored the goal after we went two nil down early on messing about with it at the back. Should have really got the win with many chances missed, think that will be our problem next season scoring goals. Next up Charlton on Tuesday.

That was good planning.
Aye, by all accounts there was only about 40 minutes between stepping off the coach and kick off. Been down in Newquay all week. Lots sat the game out as well.

Think we felt obliged to play this game more than anything. Not one to dwell on really.
