Alfreton 1-2 Nottingham Forest

Fantastic day with a beautiful playing surface basking in the sunshine. Attendance announced as 1,799 but looked like 2500 to me.

Cracking performance too. Very impressed by our performance. Unfortunately to lose and good for the draw against a Championship side.

All the trialists impressed too particularly number 9 who I hope we sign.
A little unsure but today has filled with plenty of optimism. Still a little short up front but plenty of time to retify that. Walsall up next

As abobe we eon 4-0 against Welsh prem Cefn Druids. 1st friendly but after watching it atleast we look like we might have a threat going forward this season. Bit of pace added. Hooper looks good scored 2. Redmond good on the ball also scored. Few trialists on show today. Obe being Jazzi birom bobb or something like that. Looked alright. Invited back for another week

Fleetwood 1-0 Wrexham. The former streamed it live on FB and I probably saw about 20 minutes of it in total haha. And I don’t think they knew that the stream was down because they didn’t try it again in the second half. Good idea to do it, but very difficult to guarantee stream quality, especially with quite a few watching.
Anyway, from what I saw we more than held our own. JBB by far the stand out trialist and he looks like he’ll be an asset, both defensively and going forward. Thought the left-footed centre back trialist looked super composed on the ball and dealt with everything that came to him. And thought the tall RW trialist showed glimpses of his ability too up against a solid opponent in Danny Andrew. What impressed me most about him though was his reaction when he lost the ball, a real physical eagerness to win the ball back and most of the time, he came out on top.. so I’d like to see more of him. Looked a decent showing from the midfield (especially Summerfield) and Harris & Hooper. Their goal was a mix up (apparently) between our young trialist goalkeeper and a centre half whose come through our system. Sounded like we were on top before that too, so that was a disappointment. Nice training pitch Fleetwood have also.

Cardiff City's U23s (plus a few new faces going into the first team) beat Taffs Well 5-1 in a special charity match for Ty Hafan Children's Hospice.

A very good performance by the youngsters, a few trialists on display, but the best result of the night was knowing that a big amount of money was raised for a great cause.

Aaron Bolger stood out as a player of good promise, recently signed from Shamrock Rovers on a permanent basis. Not sure how much first team game time he'll get for us, but based on what I saw we have a diamond in the rough.

Jacob Evans, Laurence Wootton, Dan Griffiths, Ntazana Mayembe and Connor Davies scored for the Bluebirds, with Richard French scoring for Taffs Well.

lost 2-1 at home to a strong Blackburn Rovers team. Both sides played completely different elevens in each half. Scott Quigley scored on his debut.

i'm not sure what's worse us having Byron Harrison or you having Harry the Pan on trial...

Dicked CH Nomads 8-0. If we were in the North West Counties Division South we'd walk the league

It says a lot when Shamir Mullings isn't even the worst striker you have on trial!

We played 3x30 minutes against Southall today. Most of the squad got a run out and there were six trialists on show, two each in positions we need (RB and CF), but those four all failed to impress, the other two were OK.

No sign of Wes Fonguck (still hasn't signed a new deal) or Craig Robson (who seems to be persona non grata.

Robson did really well for us. We were gutted to see him go. Thought he'd do well at Barnet - especially now since he must know Currie well.

Alfreton 2-1 Walsall

Impressive once again from Alfreton.

Schooled first half and look to not be 2 or 3 down but came out a completely different animal in the second half. Fast dynamism to our attacking play. All trialist impressed but particulary number 19.

Outrageous back heel finish from academy product Morgan Brough for the winner. Have to say Walsall where very poor in the second half.

Beat Nuneaton Borough 2-0. Really should have been three or four down before we scored against the run of play, then went on to win comfortably.
Good solid workout, not an easy win.

He posted some pictures of himself and a few members of the squad after a night out following an away defeat on Instagram which included nitrous oxide canisters. Since then he's been on the fringes of the squad. He did get off to a good start here but faded quite a bit after that and seems to have fallen out with the squad for dropping other players in it.

Yes but with 5 minute breaks every 30 minutes, so three thirds rather than two halves. Happens occasionally with friendlies early in pre-season.
Oh really? Never heard that before. Not seen it with any our games. We like to take 5 minute breaks during our normal season matches anyway..

4-0 loss to Peterborough Sports in our first friendly of the summer. Mostly about fitness, really, so not massively worried about the result, but we were short on players today (4 or 5 first-teamers were absent) and had to bring players up from the Reserves to make up the numbers (in the second half, seven of the starting 11 were in last season's Reserves squad). That's a slight concern, but I'm sure the management team are working hard to bring some more bodies in to fill out the squad.

Shamir Mullins, oh Christ feel sorry if you sign him. Worst player seen playing for us last season as think of the crap when we had no money, someone the size of Matt Rhead but with no game whatsoever, terrible. Missed a header from two yards out under the bar against Barnet last season summed him up.

We're playing well this pre season, 6-0 and 4-0 against some Northern League sides.

We play the pair of them every year and they both said that this side is much stronger than in previous years.

Doesn't mean much bearing in mind their level but we seem to have got ourselves a lively forward line.

We have our friendly against Portimonense out in Portugal tonight. These beat Benfica and Sporting Lisbon last season and recently comfortably beat Chelsea u23’s also. There’s a strong chance this could turn into a game more suited for the Cricket World Cup, but if it doesn’t, simply put, we’re going to piss this league, sorry Chipmunx :bdick:

Dulwich get underway this evening at home to Colchester United. That's rapidly followed by three away games on consecutive days at Beckenham Town (Thursday), Chester (Friday), Marine (Saturday).

We've announced 17 players as retained or signed so I expect a fair few triallists and academy players will feature too, especially at Beckenham.

Our schedule continues at home to Bromley next Tuesday, a Tottenham Hotspur XI on Saturday week, Sutton United away on Tuesday week, Crystal Palace under 23s the following Saturday, then Carshalton Athletic away on Monday 29th.

I love how Gavin has just continued to post on this board.

Good on you lad.
I think we’re like an asylum for him. He has secrets about the championship forum and needs protection.
