Lost 3-1 to Concorde. Don't care about results, but this will inevitably lead to posts about how we are in trouble for the coming season. Can't score without Akinde etc...

After thrashing Premiership and Championship opposition we suddenly realised that everyone was realising how strong we are this season and so turned it down a few notches to lose to Concord Rangers today.

If I keep telling myself that it might actually be the case

Luton Town 2-1 Scunthorpe United, with goals from Paddy Madden, an equaliser shortly after from a shocking penalty decision by James Collins and a winner late on by Jack Stacey.

Two very evenly matched good quality sides played at a decent intensity.

Andrew Shinnie just oozes class - he's going to be one of the best players in the division this season.

The team was probably close to our best XI, with the exception of Hylton and Justin and maybe Rea.

We won 2-0 at Alfreton

Mixed first half, better 2nd apparently.

Jacob Mellis is obviously going to be one of the better midfielders down here, how the fuck we've managed to get him I don't get.

Time to stop all the fannying around and crack on with the proper stuff

Good solid performance away at Woking, winning 3- 0, went with a diamond formation first half, then went 442 second half. We looked so much fitter than last season, but then the last half hour Woking ran out of legs, and we got 2 late goals.
I must admit I was quite despondent after last season perfectic performances, but as this close season has gone on, my optimism has perked up, Flitcroft, I think, has brought in some players that are league savvy, still need a couple more players, as the squad is pretty thin, but all in all I'm a happy Red!

Surely nobody thinks Barnet can't score without Akinde... what a preposterous suggestion!

Lost 2-0 to Southend. A very soft penalty decision for them and Berry missed from the spot for us.

We could and should have scored three or four on another day.

2-1 win against Walsall.
Quite enjoyed today not sure if that was because it was my first game in 3 and bit months .
We had a couple of trialists playing again for us, Matthew Briggs played for us at left back for second time and we had Neal Eardley playing right back for the first hour then went to left back for the last 30 minutes after Briggs went off. Both did well but Eardley impressed me more as you could see he'd played higher up.
Always good to beat a team from higher up but Walsall did look poor and apart from their goal created very little.

We got hammered 5-1 by Peterborough today meaning our Pre-season has been the worst that I can ever recall in 23 years supporting the club. Our results have been:

Oxford City - L 2-1
Bishops Cleeve - W 6-0
Evesham United - W 3-0
Bath City - L 2-1
Weston Super Mare - L 2-1
Bristol City - L 3-0
Peterborough - L 5-1

Our only wins have come against teams 4 divisions below us and we've been beaten by 3 teams two divisions below us.

Now, I'm ok because I don't believe pre-season tells you anything and if we beat Morecambe next week no-one will remember what we did in July. Our fans on The Nest and Twitter on the other hand already have us relegated - just the one more spot to fill then.

We beat Dorchester Town 6-1 albeit with pretty much a first team line up. Nice to see one of our youngsters Jack sparkes get on the scoresheet.

We beat a apparently poor Doncaster side 4-0. They lost their heads a bit and had a lad sent off for a stamp, so I'm sure they are well impressed with their day out.

Sounded better for us though, we played 4 at the back and did sound like an improvement. Be happy if we stick to that but good to see Caldwell has something other than 3-5-2 in his locker

Our last 1st team friendly this afternoon vs Stoke City. Likely to be a young Stoke team though as most of there 1st teamers played at Bolton yesterday. Were in need of a much needed confidence boost after the trouncing at Macclesfield last week.

The squad looked very strong yesterday...and we were without both Hylton and Justin.

What was up with Justin, assume he was injured...with him not even being on the bench?

Picked up a knock with England U19 over the summer.

Just beat some form of Sheffield Wednesday side, probably U23's, 2-1 to get some final minutes into players who have missed previous pre-season games.

Last one tonight, away versus Worthing, which was apparently agreed when we signed Omar Bugiel from them during last season. I'm guessing the side will be largely players who aren't likely to be in the starting eleven on Saturday, such as youth teamers, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Omar as captain for the evening. Hopefully the game will pass without incident and we have a full squad available for selection against Barnet.

West Brom at home tonight, odd timing 4 days ahead of Crawley and we are expected to field a very mixed team of youngsters to protect players for Saturday which I am sure will disappoint WBA who I am sure would prefer a test to prepare for their campaign.

Take back what I said earlier, a mainly second string for the most part Vale side drew 1-1 with WBA with Pope scoring late on. Decent end to pre season.

Our last friendly tonight against AFC Bournemouth. A mixture of first teamers a nd youngsters for them but they'll still beat us. And we'll pick up a nasty injury 3 days before the season starts.
