Out for up to 3 months if you're interested.
Like Marshall, he obviously did well for us last season and seems a likeable guy. Sad to hear this as soon as he gets to his new club. Hope he makes a decent recovery.

Shrewsbury 2-1 Cardiff

I know pre-season results count for nothing but having beat 3 Championship sides who fielded reasonably strong sides it is good to see.

Cobblers 1-0 Derby. Strong Derby side and we played well with our new formation which is reassuring.

Impressed with the youngsters tonight. Oldaker stood out first half, and for me O'Mara, Tucker and Stevenson were the picks of the second. Not a great test though, Patro were limited.

A Bury XI side beat Salford 2-1 at Moor Lane. Salford have some quality players for the conference north.

We had 5 first teamers playing in the first half, by the end it was pretty much all youth or trialisys, who played very well.

Think thats harsh. We played some decent stuff early doors, also remembering we were playing a side pushing for promotion from the Championship, no where near Boothroyd esque.

Our XI side lost 2-1 to Man Utd u21's yesterday. We have a winger on trial called Jordan Gibson who looks very good.

Played three games so far, hit crossbar, 2 assists, and 2 goals. Ex Rangers. Would be very pleased if he signed.

We play Newcastle United at Valley Parade tonight, so hoping for a strong starting XI for the first time this pre-season - barring Charlie Wyke, he's had a knock.

Ball, Taylor and Williams

Solid first half performance, defensively looked especially strong (we are a big side this year).
Ball's goal was very scrappy, Taylor was in the right place at the right time and scored a solid header (as the smallest man on the pitch), Williams' goal was very good. Optimistic with regards to our survival chances and think we could certainly challenge for the top half based on our performance at times last night.

We are undefeated, so far, in our tour of Holland. Mine you we have not played any games. I believe some of our fans bought some butterflies.

Turns out I was wrong. We played Dutch champions Feynenoord on their training pitch behind closed doors. Playing against some of the players who will be in the Champions league shortly we had a creditable 0-0, with the local rag saying we had the best chances. Well happy with that!

Every butterfly has a silver lining apparently.

Battered 4-0 by Newcastle, they were light years in front of us. Pinning everything on 'preseason' means nothing but so far we've been crap.

Lost 2-1 to fairly average Albion side.

So shit going forwards, we have nothing up there.

Drew 0-0 with Sunderland. Defended well but didn't really create too much.

Argyle drew 0-0 with Dutch champions Feyenoord! Even with them playing a multiple first team players such as their top goalscorer last season... Not a bad result, but it does look like we've been struggling to score goals this preseason.

Ryan Williams, ex Pompey/Oxford/Barnsley, could turn out to be a very shrewd signing for us. He was released by Barnsley after his shaky injury record rendered him unable to breakthrough and he's scored 2, very well taken, goals in the last two evenings for us (Tuesday vs. Chesterfield/Wednesday vs. North Ferriby). Let's hope he can stay fit!

Hardly seen him play apart from a few short spells against Parkgate and Sheff Utd where he hardly got a kick but i've heard he's been impressive in other friendlies same as Alex Bray another winger what looks like a shrewd signing. Looks like we got decent strength in depth in wide areas next season with Taylor, Bray, Williams, Forde and Newell.

Interesting detail came out today about our game with Feyenoord. Apparently, the players did not know who they were playing until they arrived at the ground.

We may be playing another behind closed doors game today.

I know managers like to keep their line-ups secret for as long as possible but that's taking it too far.

We were supposed to play away at Tranmere last night but it got postponed. Not helpful so close to the start of the season..
