Does getting battered by Chelsea help the Wrexham brand?

Obviously the money helps the coffers but Americans only tend to support successful teams
Most people are just watching it like a comedy show to be honest, like it's a spin off from Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Reynolds will have been practicing his The Office style look to the camera every time Chelsea scored.

Uwakwe isn't a LB. He hates playing that position so the rumours from us go. Sees himself as more of a CM, so if Horseman wants to sign him you'd be better off playing him there.

He's been playing LB/LWB in the friendlies but if what you say is true I'm not sure we'll end up signing him, as our priorities are probably elsewhere. We've got 5 CM's already, but not much out wide or at FB.

I'm hoping that we lose a few taggers on so we don't get many morons, but certainly from a financial POV I can live with it over there.

Along with Uwakwe & Wade, we also apparently have Dylan Barkers (ex Cheltenham) and Josh Shonibare (ex Derby) amongst our other trialists.

Suppose it’s better than playing the cat & fiddle like they were all last season i guess.

I suppose it would be one of those where it’s “nothing ventured nothing gained” from a wrexham perspective as i’d assume the costs would be covered.

$20M to the local economy = $400 for each person who turned up. I don't see how that is possible.

Tickets were averaging around £150 per peron. Then you got people coming in from all 50 states to NC to watch the game, hotels, bars, clubs etc would have been chocker, so yeah around $400 per person sounds about right.

We're riding on the 'underdogs' brand. This lends into that for sure.

Getting battered by Chelsea and United, then having a successful season in League 2 would be seen as a successful story to some. They can be like 'I was there in the dark days when we lost 5-0 to Chelsea' after we turn Forest Green over.

I know it was a goal fest but £30 a goal is still pricey. All 50 states is barely believable but very impressive. That is some real dedication.

Great college location for the game.

I've seen some grumbles from Americans that our performance was "lacklustre".

I though it was generally pretty good. It actually made me a bit more confident for the L2 season.

Ryan Barnett is an absolute gem, can see him being pivotal next season.

It's a beautiful fairytale underdog story and all you ***ers better consume it.

Finished 5-0. A bit flattering to them to be honest, plenty of positives to take from the game. We lacked a bit of composure in front of goal which was where their quality made the difference. Quite pleased with how we are looking so far though.

Maatsen (2) Gallagher, Nkunku and Chilwell with their goals.
Billy “the fish” Waters looked like a lost child in a supermarket looking for his parents on the field.....I felt scared for him.....so glad you bought him off us

Big whoooshes all round here, he clearly meant the next season of the doc.
Didn't stay up and watch but seen the highlights.

The pace of the players and speed of passing is always so utterly glaring when you play teams from a higher level, was clear as day against Coventry and Sheff United at times and it was even clearer to see in those highlights.
Yep, Brighton were frightening when they stepped it up. Said it on here after the match but as a hard working side that has pressed it's way out of the National League and into the FA Cup Quarters, we've become pretty efficient at overrunning teams...quite often teams that you'd expect to beat us too, however corners and areas of unease that we'd ordinarily harry teams into and force them into losing the ball or having to play the ball back were kid's play for Brighton, a single nonchalant flick out of trouble in their own half and our entire midfield is suddenly out of the picture and we're in real trouble in our own half.

LOL. Strong Hellogregory vibes.

Yep, he's quality from what I've seen. Wish we'd have tried to get him in after we went up.

Look on the sunny side.

I thought Vauxhall Motors folded, good to see them back.
They took voluntary relegation back to the West Cheshire League, because despite them punching well above their weight the people of Ellesmere Port failed to get behind them. They have a decent set-up there. I think they have risen from Step 7 to Step 4.

Tbf they sound like a works team, rather then a team representing the town. Might make it harder to attract locals?
