Predict when Kane / Lukaku will be sold

Kane and Lukaku, both 22 and both some of the hottest property in the Prem. And both play for wannabe big clubs.

What I'm wondering is that for how long can Tottenham and Everton hold on to these players? Both these clubs are in a somewhat intriguing position in the transfer market as they're positioned somewhere in between the richest PL clubs and the averagely wealthy.

With a seeming shortage of top, top class strikers in the Premier League - or even the world - these players will certainly attract interest. But are Tottenham and Everton able to fend off that interest for the years to come - or could they lose their star forwards sooner than expected? Even in this January window? Surely not...

I'm not so sure these clubs have to sell to survive any more. With the income that teams get these recent years. They'll only leave when they want to, I can imagine that wouldn't be too long unless they're happy treading water and not making the most of their talent.

Lukaku would have learnt from his Chelsea experience about going to a CL side and not playing whilst are Spurs are building a strong side with Kane as the focal point.

If they did leave think it would be somewhere abroad.

I didn't mean that Tottenham or Everton had to sell to balance the books, but 99% of players want the bigger paycheck when the chance comes along. United, City and Chelsea can pay at least double as much in wages as Tottenham or Everton, if they want to. And there's a case for each of them needing a striker, United will definitely buy a striker this year.

I don't see Lukaku returning to Chelsea, though, and I don't see Kane going abroad. Lukaku might.

Think Lukaku will be off quite quickly, maybe the summer, he seems to be quite an ambitious player and he will score goals wherever, even if his all round game is still developing. Kane has more of an attachment to Spurs and they are competing near the top at the moment, can't see him leaving in the near future.

There's no reason for Kane to move. English players rarely test themselves abroad and only the absolute biggest clubs would pay him more than he will get in the Premier league and he's not good enough for one of those clubs anyway so I don't see him moving abroad. Spurs are also looking good for a top 4 finish this year and they seem to be more stable than a lot of the other top 4 contenders so there's no reason for him to leave at all.
Lukaku on the other hand has already sounded out in the past that he wants to play for a bigger club than Everton and as it doesn't seem that they're going to be getting into the Champions league then he would likely push for a move if there's a hint of interest. Question is, who from? Chelsea seem the best premier league side for him, but maybe he's had enough of them. Atletico seem to lose strikers every season, and always replace well too so maybe they'd be the biggest threat for him.

Apart from scoring a few superb goals, Coutinho has actually been a little disappointing this season. I don't think the richer clubs than ours will be looking to buy him until he takes one more development step.

I guess it's always possible, but I wonder what's the best salary Tottenham are prepared to pay? £100k a week? £130k a week? If United, City or Chelsea really want a player, they can pay double that. Everyone can ask themselves the question what would they do in that situation. 99% of the time it's the bigger paycheck that wins.

Lukaku isn't good enough for the Spanish League, yes he scores goals but he still breaks up Everton's play frequently with his poor touches. He's getting better but he's still got some way to go before he can thrive outside of a rapidly declining Premier League which suits him.

I reckon one of these players will end up at United eventually. More likely Lukaku, I think Kane will give Spurs a few more years of service at least if not his entire career. He seems to genuinely be all about Spurs.

I don't see either player playing outside of England, Lukaku always dreamed of playing in the Premier League (albeit for Chelsea) and his game is suited to the league. Kane would probably be better abroad, but English players don't really have that ambition. Who can they go to above (I use the word in the classic top 4 sense ) their current teams? Can't envisage either at Arsenal (Kane for obvious reasons), City have Aguero, which leaves Chelsea (who have already rejected Lukaku in the past) and United.

Aye, it's proven Kane was an Arsenal supporter when he was younger.
Lukaku will probably leave next summer. Kane will probably stay at Spurs for the foreseeable future.

People call the Kane comparisons to Sheringham lazy but they're pretty similar in terms of potential and progression at similar stages of their careers. Most notably their relatively late development, but also in terms of their rate of scoring (purple patches followed by long barren runs) and their importance in Spurs' creative/attacking dynamic. Sheringham was fairly prolific up until his peak but settled into a deeper, more creative, role after he lost a yard or two of pace. Sheringham was also a big game player and never lacked for confidence, which is a trait that a lot of English players have been lacking since 90s generation retired. Kane typifies that spirit, but I suppose it's still too early to say for sure.

Sheringham was one of the most naturally talented players of his era, though, and while I like Kane I don't think he will ever excell in any one area like other talismanic England strikers have.

It really is funny how on one hand Chelsea hoard all these promising young players to the club, but on the other hand don't give opportunities to even the best of them. Both Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne would be great additions to that Chelsea squad right now.

I haven't always been Lukaku's biggest fan. This season he's undoubtedly put any questions to bed. His game has gone to an entirely new level. He seems to be putting away easier chances he'd miss in previous seasons.

At that rate he'll score over 20 goals this season...deteriorated? Vardy will not sustain this pace, if he scores 30 goals this season I will go to a casino and insult a Japanese man. Kane needs some help this January from Levy.

Everton paid £28m for Lukaku, they'd want to make a profit on that. Would Atletico pay that sort of money?

How many teams in world football are willing to pay over £35m on the transfer fee alone? I can't imagine it's a very big list.

Well I don't think they would, but I also don't think they'd go for him with things as they are. But when Griezmann goes he's probably going to fetch £50mill from a Prem side (like Chelsea) so they could afford it. Whether they'd pay that for him is another matter. If Simeone wanted him, they'd do it. Big if.

With the TV deal being what it is next season, no-one needs to sell anyone. Not Spurs, Everton, Watford or anyone else.

There are dafter suggestions than a 50M bid for Lukaku. Bournemouth are signing players from Roma, Palace from PSG and Swansea are raiding Marseille....Combine this par-for-the-course silliness with a Manchester United who are desperate to spend a fortune on anything and who knows?
