Seen this has been created based on the average predictions for a few different people. Comes to the surprise of nobody that we are predicted rock bottom.
Something based on 9 opinions is not exactly reliable. Last seasons version would have been mostly wrong. Do one based on what posters on here who support League 2 clubs think and that would look different and turn out equally wrong in all probability.

A few random thoughts from my experiences..

I think we'll (Rovers) be up there, Bradford, Mansfield, Leyton Orient, Salford. Tranmere and Port Vale probably won't be too far away.

With us, I think we have lots of leadership, experience and a goalscorer. All the things we were missing last season. The best keeper in the league. Worried that the whole Barton saga will be a distraction for us and he didn't do so well as expected last season. He's put a lot of pressure on himself this season though as now got his own players, we might not start great but think we will pick up. Bradford, Mansfield and Leyton Orient all have managers with proven success at this level/league one. Salford have obviously splashed the cash. Port Vale seem to have a good coaching set up, obviously we love DC at Rovers, Tranmere seem quite active in the market and we're already up there last season. I've always wanted McAleny here. They've almost got too much experience but should be up there.

I think Swindon will struggle as they have a poor manager with getting lots of young players in and lots of change. He took us from 4th in L1 to a relegation battle by clearing the decks and bringing in too many young players with no leadership. I think Swindon's current joy of still having a club will be shortlived. Still, at least they still have a club.

Newport seem to have signed a lot of our cast offs so I think they may not do as well as expected. Joe Day was poor last season for us. Ed Upson was average us, is slow and not getting any younger. James Clarke is a true professional but not getting any younger. Timmy Abraham is living off his brother's rep. Dom Telford is a decent back up without being brilliant.

I think FGR will finish lower than expected too. I'm not sure about their manager. These managers at youth level tend to struggle from my experience.

Was that 2002, opening game of the season?

Seem to recall that was a young hellogregory’s very first time experiencing trouble at football. It was all very exciting at the time.
If so, our first post Knighton game. I remember the atmosphere was a bit spicy and I was sat in the east stand with a lot of mini hooligans in close proximity. One of them stole my programme

A few intriguing gaps. Well it's no surprise that at either of of the table there are gaps since people are more likely to agree on positions like top and bottom, but a huge gap between us in 14th and ColU in 15th is odd

Tranmere have an interesting split in 1st team experience in our squad. 12 players have an average of 427 games in their career. 12 players have an average of 27•5 games.

Not sure
Was that the occasion the police kettled the poolies at the station and walked them down the same side of the street that the pubs were on? I think they like to use our games as practice should they ever be drafted up north to police the old firm.
Thats the one.
I think it was 2000/2001,you’d just come up from the Conference,we won 3-1.
10,000 crowd, including 2,000 Poolies.Trouble before/after the game & at half time when someone opened the doors separating fans on the concourse.
It’s a long old walk to the station when it’s a pitched battle most of the way.

I’m not surprised by how fancied we are, finished last season really strong and Clough did really well with the squad at his disposal.

Still 8/9 players brought in and expected to settle though, although our summer recruitment definitely focused around what we missed last season, a solid #1 GK, and a striker or two that can actually score goals.

A few possibilities there then... lol. You're referring to three separate games I think.

Early 00's (think it was 02) was before we got relegated, that's the one HG remembers, was the first game of the season and we were in high spirits because of the takeover but were easily beaten by a Hartlepool team considered among the promotion favourites, the result didn't dampen our spirits much.

If you remember playing us after we came back up then it wasn't our first season following promotion in 05/06 as you were in League 1, or the season after as we went up and you went down... it wasn't until 07/08 that we were both in League 1 together.

As for the time we're referring to (I missed that it was Rocka who answered lol), maybe the police have kettled the poolies a few times but it certainly became a bit more heavy handed in the seasons after we came back down to L2 and I only remember seeing trouble at the Beehive once... think the time I was referring to was maybe five or six years ago. I was on the other side of the road, the side if they'd had any sense about them the fuzz would have sent the Poolies and heard banging on glass and shouting.

I think Mansfield will win it. Got a good, settled manager in place. Got rid of the dross and ended last season excellently. They've probably had a top 3 budget and looked to have recruited well. After a couple of poor seasons I'd be amazed if they weren't right in the mix.

I’m not getting my hopes up!

I think it’s hard to predict, although I am more optimistic than previous seasons, our two managers beforehand had zero experience in Dempster and hardly any in Coughlan, Nigel Clough is obviously the opposite.

Budget wise it’s by Clough own admission ‘competitive’ and *nearly* making Tom Naylor our highest paid player proves that but nothing like we’ve seen under Steve Evans, Flitcroft and Dempster, when I think top three I would guess instantly Salford and Bradford, and you’ve got a few candidates to fill that last spot.

Wonder how many of you tipping us to be champs know how many times we have actually won a division. Sure, we have appointed a good manager but no better than those at Tranmere, Mansfield and Orient. Also, it is obvious that Vale and Walsall are going to be much stronger than last season. Swindon are making some good signings and have just signed a midfielder who simply shouldn't be in league 2(though him and Payne together are a bit diminutive). Every team in the division would have liked McAleney and he with Josh Morris will cause problems. I have not tried to make predictions since January 2015 and wouldn't know where to start now.

Still a long way to go of course but so far I'm way out on quite a few of my predictions at both ends of the table. I think I may have overestimated Mansfield, Carlisle, Brovers and Salford while otoh underestimating Barrow, Swindon, Sutton and Pools.

Having said that I'm sticking to a couple of my bolder predictions like FGR to win the title and Oldham to stay up.

You routinely overestimate us. On how many occasions have you had us down to win the title? Think you'd have learned by now.

We’re putting together a very good looking squad - albeit low on numbers atm. A lot will depend on whether the BRovers fans are right about Garner or not.
Well, we know now don’t we!

A lot of clubs seem to have been hit hard by a raft of injuries this season. Whether that’s more than normal, I don’t know.

Touch wood, we have been virtually injury free so far. May be down to luck, may be to our training methods or even our style of play which doesn’t really embrace the ‘get stuck in’ attitude.

Successful teams either have to be lucky with injuries and/or have decent back-ups.

CEO Ryan Sparks made the weird claim in the summer that the players signed this season were ones that ‘didn’t get injured’ (words to that effect), that included famed crock Lee Angol, lasted about three games, Threlkeld who is out now for the second time this season, and Eisa who’s played about ten minutes in the league cup. That’s not including key man Canavan who’s out again having missed a chunk of his time here last season after signing in January.

Interesting that I have Northampton down as finishing in the top 7 and no one has mentioned them yet

Bump

Pretty much halfway and Northampton are doing the biz. Shame other teams are letting me down.

That was quite hard to do as really there is little to no difference in quality in the vast majority of this division. Only reason I've got Rochdale going down is you typically look at a club with stuff going on behind the scenes and that can easily derail a clubs season as many of us have found in the past. I'm sure that will get proven laughably wrong but just couldn't separate a number of clubs.

Apart from getting Vale spot on as it stands today some of these are absolute shockers. Not least Carlisle, read that one completely wrong barring a big turnaround.

Putting Bradford top, Walsall in the autos, and Stevenage in the play-offs was mightily ill-judged of me as things stand...as was underestimating Sutton's resilience and capabilities, and Swindon's bounce-backability...

Think I’ve got most things wrong this season so far, apart from TRFC being roughly in the right place.
