I was completely against this until I realised that competitive B team football might just prevent premier league clubs from inundating lower league football with loan players that provide unfair advantages to a handful of teams with those links. How often does a team in leagues one or two get promoted thanks to a couple of outstanding loan players that they could never have afforded to attracted on their own.

Speaking just for League Two, not that often. Although I'm not sure that I buy your thinking anyway - clubs won't give their young players 50 games in League One because they can have three games against the League One reserves instead? Or perhaps managers will stop players going on loan to clubs run by their mates because they need the youngsters for the all-important JPT campaign? Neither seem very likely.

To be clear, very few people are crying about the loss of the JPT. If it's not viable, scrap it. Don't relegate the club I love to something resembling a training obstacle for the Premiership reserve teams though.

It's very sad to see people coming round to the idea. Doubtless when the next nudge along the line to L3 occurs, we can find a reason to justify that as well.

Lower league football fans in England are an absolutely fantastic collective. It's just a shame we are so spineless that our own clubs can freely admit they voted for something knowing all their supporters hated it.

".............our own clubs can freely admit they voted for something knowing all their supporters hated it.............."

Scunny's CEO officially stated as such, except "some" instead of "all".

The JPT is a potential liability for clubs. Most clubs lose money in the knockout stages. If you get through, then Wembley awaits with a payout. Chances of losing are greater than winning. Further, first team players are forced to play, thus risking them to injury and leading to potentially damaging chances of gains in the other more financially lucrative cup competitions and of course, the most important one of all, the League. If the Chairman or CEO can see the chances increased of generating revenue from a new format to the competition, then he will likely vote for it.

I think most of us know that this has nothing to do with supporters and never will, irrespective of what we think about it.

Irrespective of what we think about it? Agreed. Because when we have a chance to do something about it, we are apologists.

Clubs are entirely beholden to you, even if they want nothing more than to make money. All the more so at this level. If you vote with your feet, that £10k of prize money you have a chance of winning will not seem so great.

Alone, I generated about £300 of ticket sales for the JPT last season, or 3% of the suggested prize pot for the group stage. Maybe that illustrates how little our clubs are getting here - it would take 33 other fans to take this stance and entirely eliminate the cash bonus for winning a group.

Whilst "Football is a business" is always a snappy line to put on to the Internet, there are plenty of examples of supporters taking a stand and enforcing change. And there's even more examples of clubs not being run as businesses, but as playthings and ego-massagers. It's a shame we give in to B teams, IMO.

Your other arguments - you're allowed to rotate players for the JPT, and surely the chance of injury goes up as we are now forced to play three teams before we go home, instead of losing round one and being done with it?

If the JPT loses money and supporters don't care about the chance of going to Wembley, scrap it.

I don't go to the JPT games, not even when we went to Wembley.

If you vote with your feet,
I agree, if people are so upset by the changes to JPT, then don't go. I will not go anyway, unless it is a ground that I have yet to see Scunny play at. I've seen most of them, but there are a few ticks left. Nothing to do with the JPT, as it could be any other competition.

I have been against the JPT since inception, due to additional risk of playing injuries.

If the JPT loses money and supporters don't care about the chance of going to Wembley, scrap it.
I'm interested in promotion from the league. The attraction of having a chance to go to Wembley with the JPT is nothing to me. If I go to Wembley, it'll be for the promotion play-off final. I'll concede that I would go for the FA Cup Final though, if Scunny were in it :gr:.

As far as scrapping it goes, that'll have to come from the powers that be. The supporters can show their displeasure by not going, then the clubs will have to address that with the authorities.

Unbelievable decision, The Premier League throw money at any situation without a thought for the fans or clubs it will affect. I really hope there is a boycott for every JPT game next season.

Hit them where it hurts, their pockets.

The full list of Cat A academies is:
Arsenal
Aston Villa (Championship)
Bolton Wanderers (League One)
Blackburn Rovers (Championship)
Chelsea
Everton
Fulham (Championship)
Leicester City
Liverpool
Manchester City
Manchester United
Middlesbrough
Norwich City (Championship)
Reading FC (Championship)
Southampton
Stoke City
Sunderland
Tottenham
West Bromwich Albion
West Ham United
Wolverhampton Wanderers (Championship)

They surely can't invite Bolton, but at least two Championship clubs are going to have teams in it..

The list above was dated 2013, there may have been a few changes, but there are definitely Championship clubs eligible

As expected this is just going to be a Premier League play thing so that they can play their over-paid reserves.
