Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
People who have 'no interest in this competition' need to finally have an interest now.

This is the end of the lower leagues if lower league fans do not FINALLY take a stand against being sh*t on by them in charge.

100% if this goes through and fans do like they did with MK Dons and just finally 'accept it as my team need support' you will get B teams in L1/2 and our set-up completely ditched in order to help the top 6-7 sides play their youth.

a massed boycott across the entire board rejecting the entire idea is what will be needed...............unfortunately the majority of lower league fans are gutless cowards who hide behind some 'loyalty' to cop-out of protesting and just accept

that and complete and utter attack on owners who voted yes.

Pompey votes against. We have not released a statement yet but apparently we also voted against. Remember it's your chairman voting for it so it should be easy to apply pressure.

According to the Peterborough chairman on Twitter he wasn't even sure of the details of the deal, so either he's lying about not knowing, or the chairmen have been misled. Either way it's an absolute farce.

This is the beginning of the end for Traditional lower league football. Give an inch and eventually it becomes a yard.

I won't be attending any JPT games, I never intended to anyway so this is just another bad mark against it.

Ive heard from a very reliable source that normally votes like this need 90 percent to be passed. Well the football league lowered the percentage required for this vote to get it through and were surprised when it only scraped past their lowered figure. So basically it was forced through by the league.

What's the source ( if you can say) I'm interested to know how my club's chairman voted.

We voted against and our statement is now up:

The club's stance on EFL Trophy proposals

Earlier today we published a press release issued by the English Football league announcing that Premier League Academy teams will be invited to enter the EFL Trophy (more recently the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy) for season 2016-17.

The Dons Trust Board strongly opposes this change and accordingly AFC Wimbledon Chief Executive Erik Samuelson spoke against it and voted against it at the EFL’s annual general meeting. Regrettably, the majority of League 1 and 2 clubs decided to vote in favour.

The Dons Trust notes that this is a pilot for one year, and will continue to oppose initiatives that involve academy/under-21 sides competing in their own right in this and other first-team competitions.

IMO all fans of L1 & L2 clubs should contact their own clubs' chairmen/CEOs/board members asking how they voted. Bombard them with calls and emails if necessary. Supporters associations/trusts should be doing likewise. Let's see how many respond and whether the numbers stack up!

I've messaged someone I know in the supporters club to see if he knows what's going on but it turns out he's in France:lol: . I'll try and get some answers soon.

This will be the premier league imposing their will (blackmailing the FL and lower league clubs), the £1m pot is nothing in the end if B teams end up coming in, first EPPP got forced through now this. Hopefully it only lasts the one season and should never have reached this point.

Our Chairman voted for it, said it's an interesting trial for a competition that is dying. Also said 90% of teams need to vote for B teams in the FL, which would never happen and is something we'd be strongly against. Prize money increases apparently and u21 teams forfeit gate receipts, but it's not life changing money.

I assume the away game at a B team would be their reserve ground I.e. Boreham Wood for Arsenal so no consolation in visiting a top stadium, awful idea, ruins the competition for me and you'll possibly even get them dominate it so end up with no trophy going to a lower league club like it should.

Awful, il ask Smurf how he voted. Interested to know.

For something like this I think the bigger clubs would open their usual ground to the fans like they do for the FA Youth Cup. Then they could use it as a way to maybe try and justify the trial being successful if say 15k fans went to Old Trafford to watch Man Utd u21s play their home JPT game. Although it would depend on the scheduling, if teams like Arsenal and City have Champions League home games on the same date, they'll have to play at the reserve grounds.

Either way a shocking move and the beginning of what we all feared, the Football League bribing clubs in an attempt to force these development sides into the league. Sly move as well to wait until all the major journalists in the country are on their jollies in France before announcing it. Supporters groups need to act together and try to organise a total boycott of these games.

The bigger clubs and the Premier League may be laughing at getting their way right now but I wonder if they'll still be laughing if one of their top young stars gets their cruciate ligament torn by a late challenge from a 32 year old League Two centre back.

Disgraceful this, don't get me wrong I think the JPT is a joke competition but it represents lower league club the chance of silverware and a day at Wembley. As already said it's the first step in the FA's bent attempt at getting football league B teams, and a close shop Premier League.

I believe it was the whole FL, so the championship clubs had a say despite it not having any impact on them.

The decision itself is horse shit, and I for one wouldn't go to watch if the game was played in my back garden

Here is a link to a petition against the introduction of Premier League B sides in the JPT if anyone wants to sign it:

https://www.change.org/p/premier-lea...edium=copylink
Merged with the main thread. Covers the topic being discussed in this thread, doesn't need a new one.

Don't know why people bother starting these petitions, see them pop up all the time. When do they ever lead to anything and why would the Football League care? If they did, they would never have voted for it in the first place.

That's a very nihilistic attitude imo. They're not very effective as a stand alone form of protest but they certainly don't do any harm, especially if they reach significant numbers. I'm happy to support it alongside other measures.

Doesn't include Championship teams. Shame because I want to find out what we voted for.

So when you say 'all other teams voted yes', what you MEANT to say was 'all other teams might've voted yes, but equally they could've voted no'?

Can't jump to conclusions until we know the facts.

It needed 90% approval. Do the maths.
