Back in 2004/05 when Carlisle were in the Conference/National League a significant number of clubs who were part-time. It was only the second season after the change to 2 up and 2 down as well, hence there were not a significant number of ex-league clubs.

When we won the National League in 20/21 we were one of maybe 5 teams that weren’t full-time. Not to mention the high number of ex-EFL clubs in the division.

It’s a totally different beast nowadays. I think the quality of this division is just about higher but it’s not far off. IMO we (Sutton) found the gulf between the Conference South and Conference harder to bridge than the Conference to EFL.

Try telling Wrexham.
You had/have a good squad, and a very good manager.
But everybody is now wise to you.

Right in some respects, Although you will find as we did every match (almost) is a test for the full 90mins.
And things you would get away with in the NatLge, Get punished more often than not.
This.
If people think the NL is not far behind league 2,they're living in cloud cuckoo land.
Every game is hard, unlike NL,even though all clubs are professional.

When Rovers came back up from the NL, there was uncertainty about how well our forwards Norwood and Cook would fare in the FL, with limited experience at league level. We made the play-offs. This was before the trend of buying able to buy quality FL players to play at that level as Stockport & Salford have. The best NL teams are now strong enough to at least hold their own at this level.

It’s always hit and miss but with the money/squad that Stockport assembled and most importantly a good manager they should be competing at the top end.

The same Notts Co, Who KEPT Newport in the league at our expense.twats.
How many more times have you got to be told? the reason you went down that year was because you were shit all season! as were we, and not because we beat Notts County in the last game.

We were shit with a crooked owner, last seen running out of town before the last game with everything stuffed down his trousers.

We were pretty good really in the first half of the season, but the players didn't like Jones when he took over( the poor little lambs) & chucked the towel in.
You deservedly stayed up because you wanted it,we didn't.
It was a scandal getting relegated with that team & the players should have hung their heads in shame.

That old football cliche "Too Good To Go Down", There are a few in Lge 2 who think that.

Didn't we sell half of them in January? Think that was the main problem, sold not replaced, not helped by having an arrogant sausage roll felching fat alleged noncey prick in charge.

Nope,I think we’d only sold Nsiala.
All out best players left after the season finished.

Held a rather strong Sunderland 1–1 tonight, everyone seems quite impressed.
Yeah I saw the first half. Looked very well organised, felt like a proper game. If we can keep up that level of solidity in L2 we'll be fine. Only worry is the goals, aside from Hastie who I'm now expecting good things from, we were a bit powder puff.

Sent a fairly strong XI team to Walthamstow last night and won 3-0 with 3 first teamers starting. In the end our fitness levels meant we ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Walthamstow brought on a Kyle Hudlin type striker who looked as tall as him!
