Lost 1-0 to Salford with them scoring 30 seconds from the end. we were without Josh Gordon who has a 3 match ban (non competetive matches) thanks to Mr Stockbridge.... and Richie Bennett who looks like he'll be out for 8-10 weeks.
Salford didn't look anything special and were as dirty as usual. Their goal was a carbon copy of Fleetwood's klate winner on Tuesday, 25 yard dipping curler into the top corner. Expect us to bring in a target man before next Saturday.

0-0 between us and Chesterfield at half time. We've been second best, but luckily Chesterfield don't have any real quality.

3-0 down to Chesterfield. Absolutely woeful. Pre-season or not, this is absolutely unacceptable. When we get pressed and harried we look like a confereence team. This isn't a top 7 side.

Lost 1-4 to a largely second string Huddersfield, though they did have Jordan Rhodes and Rudoni. Good goal from Reece McAlear, who looks a decent signing, but their second goal was down to returning keeper Ross Doohan and defensively we look brittle. It doesn’t sound there are many impending arrivals either.

Top end of NL is decent standard. Ourselves and Grimsby will be nowhere near any trouble this season.

Has Wild said so?

Halifax played with little Billy Waters up top on his own for much of last season.

Beat FC United 3-0 at their place, should have been a lot more. Worryingly we lost Reo Griffiths to what looks like a nasty injury

We split our squad into two again today.

A team largely of what you’d call the squad players beat Stoke U23s 2-0 with Oli Crankshaw scoring both.

The team close to what is likely to start next week beat Alty 2-0. Madden and Horsfall on target in a game that it sounds like we should have bagged a few more in.

Our squad is very strong. When you see the two teams we fielded today and presumably Sarcevic injured as not involved in either.

I imagine it could still get stronger, Minihan does look likely to depart and I can't see us not bringing in another right sided defensive option before September 1st. We can't take a gamble in this league with not even allowing loans in between transfer windows (that's how long we've been away- when did that stop?)

Yeah Minihan has actually played most of pre season as a RCB and did so again today so we can bring in someone that can cover there and also play RB if we ever switch to a back four I’m happy. I can cope with Newby, Crankshaw and Collar as RWB back ups for MSH.

Really want a new first choice LCB and think we’ll really regret it very quickly and end up counting down to January if we don’t.

I’ve been wanting a pacy striker all summer but it seems Crankshaw is being moulded for that role and I’m happy with that. As long as DC is never going to pair Jennings with Madden again.

Been out of necessity that really when doing the "2nd team" I think it's inevitable Minihan leaves tbh. I'd have all those at RWB ahead of him, he just isn't good enough going forward at RWB. I was more surprised at Keane leaving. I think if he hadn't requested more minutes, our squad would be finalised.

LCB as you say is an area of contention. Could still be addressed, depends on how Johnson starts.

Lost 3-0. Similar game to when we lost to Hartlepool last season. Didn't get going at all and we looked clueless against a workman-like team who pressed for the majority of the game. Think we only had a single attempt at goal which was a bit of a nothing effort. Obviously it's only pre-season but you'd have to be a little worried when you concede three to a team missing their best striker.

Hopefully Odusina recovers from his mystery illness because I don't like the look of Platt at all; That's not just from today's result either - think he's looked suspect a few times. Not sure what Kian Harratt brings to the team, outside of being offside at every opportunity. He looks exceptionally raw but hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

Really like the look of Crichlow. Swindon fans were right about him from what I've seen so far. Liking what I've seen from Halliday too. Smallwood and East should be a great partnership in the middle, Osadebe looks solid enough, and then we have some real quality going forward such as Walker, Oliver and Angol.Still feel like we're short of a promotion winning team. Think we'll be battling it for the last playoff place, if things fall into place.

Well there aren’t many positives to take from today, I suppose if any it’s that there were no injuries, minutes in the legs and the players may have been brought back to earth if they thought a win over Sunderland in pre season suddenly meant they can lower their standards.

Biggest negative today is sadly from a lone Chesterfield fan, imagine risking getting banned for life and a potential criminal record for getting worked up at a friendly a Burnley fan did similar a few year ago against us some right scum around https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co...tams-will-report-fa-subs-abused-chesterfield/

Lost 2-1 at home to Rotherham. Agyei the scorer for us. Worryingly short of forwards and full backs due to injuries. With only one fit full back Mellor and one forward Agyei.

Have to say I agree on Harratt. People like him because he's full of energy and aggression but I haven't really seen any technical ability from him yet nor do I see where he fits in to a 4-2-3-1. Impact player off the bench me thinks.

Drew 2-2 away at Dagenham.

Happy enough with our performance for 60mins with Adam Thompson giving us the lead, both sides could've had a goal or two more.

Then both sides after 60mins started changing things, Dagenham got more into the game as we got a bit more lazy, Vigs scored an own goal under pressure and we then let in a goal from a set play.

We brought a trialist on up front, who tbh looked a bit out of his depth - apparently he was a Chelsea youngster but he scored a tap in at the end to get us a draw.

Thank god the friendlies are over, as long as we don't pick up any more injuries all is well. Friendlies mean nothing.

Our pre season has been a bit disjointed with both our main strikers out injured and playing 0mins, we also have a very light squad whilst trying to bring Dan Happe and Craig Clay back up to fitness. Still need signings to come in or with the 5 subs allowed rule we might live to regret it.

Harratt's a good player but he needs to play in a two with a good link-up type player like James Wilson. It is why I am a little surprised Hughes would sign him if it was to shoehorn him into a 4-2-3-1 type formation as it's not really playing on his strengths in my opinion.

Good workout by all accounts between us and Dale today. Apparently they played very well first half in an open encounter before we won 3-2 in the end. Good luck for the season ahead to Dale.

We’ve generally looked really good in pre-season but I refuse to take a single thing out of it in regards to the season and the same thing applies to the opening game of the season.

For people who dare take anything away from it, Boateng and Oates in particular have looked absolutely on it. Pym is quality too, but anybody that that know a quality player at L2 (excludes Stockport, Grimsby obv) will know those three are high quality players for the level anyway.

Yeah, it's quite possibly the system that we're using. If we persist with one up top then I can't see him starting many games.

No place for racism in any form. Just glad it was only one moron. He shouldn't be allowed to see the inside of a football ground again.

Find it a bit odd Chesterfield haven't condemned it or commented. Some of our fans have questioned it respectfully on Twitter and Chesterfield have blocked them.
