Seriously doesn't bother me, more often than not it's a convenient excuse.

So if an Arsenal player does it to win a penalty and knocks you out of the FA Cup it won't bother you? Aye right...

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Is this the end of the art of dribbling then? If any defensive move that causes the attacker to have to move is a foul, why bother skipping past four challenges before sticking the ball under the 'keeper when you can fall over, and with any luck get the other player booked or sent off.

If it's a tight game and it's really blatant then I might curse the referee.

Here you go. Hopefully it opens your eyes.

My eyes are open, of course anyone can single out the fair players, my point is, every club has them, like every club has cheats. Liverpool have them too, since we are going back in time, Suarez and Gerrard to name two. If you want to go right back in time, Dalgliesh wasn't adverse to falling over in front of the Kop in injury time either. United have any number, including Ronaldo, Rooney and Ashley Young. BTW, I'm not a United supporter, just can't stand this holier than thou Liverpool attitude.

Picture this, Liverpool/United final, two minutes to go and it's 1-1. Sterling pushes the ball through, Stevieme goes after it and De Gea comes flying out. Stevieme hurdles him and goes down in a heap and the ref gives a penno. What do you do? Pat him on the back or berate him for 'cheating'?

I am not berating him or saying Liverpool players never do that, just talking about facts. He Dived. He Cheated.

"It wasn't a dive. He's gone to get out of the way and taken evasive action." At least the Preston manager know what's what.

You can't blame the referee. At full speed, not a single person in the ground thought it was a dive. It looked the clearest penalty you've ever seen. How can the referee be expected to see it with no replays? I am however, assuming your comment was slightly tongue in cheek though...?

Not many at Man Utd over the last couple of decades though... :fish:

We've a club nickname to adhere to, and not "the c***."

I'm talking about diving in general, not this particular game. It stems from me claiming I'm not really bothered about diving.

Stuckmann's tackle missed the ball....and the player.

Rooney skipped over him and then dropped.

You're missing the point. I'm not denying that Rooney dives. BUT, the tackle only missed him because he moved out of the way.

If the keeper had tried to punch Rooney in the face, and Rooney had dodged out of the way, are you telling me it's not a foul? A punch that misses is still a foul, and whilst punching someone is a far more extreme example then a slide tackle, the principle is the same.

Had Rooney not moved, either by diving or staying on his feet, then he'd have been tripped, therefore it's a foul [but it was also a dive].

No, you're missing the point.

Read Silkyman's post.

Anyway, I couldn't give a shite it happened on Monday and it had no bearing on the result.

The post from Silkyman just above? Where he agrees with my conclusion? That Rooney DID DIVE?

I'm not sure how many other ways I can say it. I completely accept that Rooney dived. But the 'challenge' that he rode as Silkyman put it was a foul as per the rules of the game.

Fuck me you're boring, Rooney was past Stuckmann, on his feet then dived to win the penalty.

Stuckmann's challenge was irrelevant at this point.

The challenge didn't impede Rooney at all. It was so far behind him that after he had passed it with his front foot, he couldn't even kick the 'keeper with his deliberately, and unnaturally trailing leg, so had to kick the floor to go over.

Players skipping past a challenge on a run is part of football (some of the best goals ever have a string of defenders dumped on their arses) . Flinging yourself to the floor afterwards is cheating.
