Notts County won’t finish in top 7. No chance, squad full of poor journeymen.

Quite fancy Yeovil to finish in top 7. On good run of form and have top manager in Johnson, knows how to get out of this league
Welcome to 2015.

Unfortunately, poor old Gary got binned earlier this month coz he looked like he'd found a WAY out of this league to the Conference.

That’s a surprise to me. Got to say I haven’t been following the league closely. Gary Johnson is a fantastic manager and certainly one I would love to see don a Sky Blue tie in the future.

Not a chance, if the 4th placed team ends up on 89 points then I'll get a tattoo of Russell Slade on one arse cheek and Fenty on the other.
Will 4th place even get 82-85?

We're 4th with 59 points from 33. This averages at 1.78 points per game. Over a season it averages out to 82, the last time we were promoted out of this league (with Plymouth and yourselves) we went up with 78.

Big big result for us today. Huge heart from Cov too to win with ten at field mill. Morecambe also did us a huge favour.

In Belgium watching our pals KV Mechelen’s fight against relegation, but looks like a good day for us - and we were due one.

Accrington, Wycombe and Exeter are the teams I’m worried about when it comes to Automatic.

Hoping strength in depth has a part to play in the remaining games, something all three of them lack hugely in comparison to Mansfield.

Stevenage away and Lincoln at home up next, we need results against both. Don’t feel too confident to be honest.

We have cover plus some more of of our injured players will be back soon ones that would normally start especially defenders Michael Harriman and Anthony Stewart so i'm not worried about our depth, today was just one of those days when nothing goes right which every team has sometime during the season. Beat Coventry at Home on Tuesday i'll be happy, what did you think of them today mate?

We are going up. Either in 1st or 2nd place. Title to be decided when we play at Luton. We have found out how to win in all circumstances, sometimes comfortably playing great football, sometimes ugly playing scrappy stuff (like today).

I hope Accrigton do go up, to be where you are on such a tight budget is a fantastic achievement.
Still hoping we'll be joining you, the table says it's entirely possible, the evidence in front of my eyes says no chance.

Anybody seen Impish?

S/he probably watched another loss.

Oh dear.

Mind, this is the promotion thread, so Lincoln shouldn't be mentioned.

As I said to Jacob, football is odd, 1-0 and a man up after 15 minutes should be a cruise, but as said in the Mansfield Coventry thread they deserved it, great showing

Nothing compared to Mansfield in numbers and Quality IMO though.

Coventry are clearly a decent team, it did feel like the only way they would score was a set-piece but that’s fair enough considering they had 10 men. It was a exellent performance to get a point in the circumstances for Coventry mind.

I’d expect a tough game against them.

Still can't understand how as you were dreadful at ours.
Long way to go yet, our game at yours looks like it could decide something. Get Sky onto it

We’re shit and the only way we’ll finish top 7 is because there are even shitter teams. We are all God awful and deserve to be cast into the depths of Sunday League.

Stop kidding ourselves that we’ll ever drag ourselves beyond the shit pit that is lower league football

Another unexciting but crucial 1-0 for us, grinding them out, although am concerned about having to play 7 games in March. We definitely have better depth than for a few seasons, but a couple of key injuries could seriously affect us. Keeping positive though, and believe we are still in the hunt for the auto's

As I've been saying for a while, we'll struggle to get in although I actually thought signing Frecklington and Rowe would give us a sniff of the automatics with giving us a bit more going forward but since Raggett left, we've not looked the same defensively. And our record against the top 7 sides has continued to be poor.

We got it slightly wrong in August, tried to correct in January, and we've not really settled down since then. Chopping and changing too much albeit because we've had to. Not helped by injuries to Vickers and Wilson (Raggett's replacement) and as a result we've had to move Bostwick out of CM to cover. Didn't get a 4th striker either.

EDIT - All that said, if we're going to make a fist of it, you want to be playing those around you in 6-pointers and we have Coventry, Mansfield, Accrington, Wycombe and Exeter to play yet. Plus Colchester and Carlisle who are still sniffing around.

Sadly, I make you right. We were abysmal today.
All that's left for this season is a day at Wembley, and hopefully upsetting the fat twat in charge of your club.

Hopefully Swindon fans generally don’t go so OTT like that or you might as well fold.

Congrats on the win but my god did you luck into it. That push was outrageous, can’t believe the ref didn’t spot it.

Thanks. Cambridge did make the game a real arm wrestle at times, especially in central midfield, and made us play a load of long ball rubbish for long periods. Glad to see Halliday performing well, would have been great to have kept him on at Stanley.

Draw would have been a fair result, but like I said, we have developed a knack of winning ugly.

I have just read Bumble’s 2015 autobiography and it is very clear how much the whole town and expecially Stanley mean to him. But he is very happy right now.

The chasing pack are wobblier than Steve Evans' fourth chin at the moment with the three teams seemingly after the last play-off place all in the bottom half of the form table.
