We always lose at Northampton.
Taylor ripped into the team afterwards, not happy with the performance. I expect us to bounce back next week then it's the Crewe game which will be crucial

Bad day at the office for us. Northampton deserved the win. I think something like 4 of our next 5 are at home, so expecting a significant points haul and normal practice (for this season anyway) is resumed. Our games with Argyle and Crewe are going to be massive.

Losing key staff in the summer inc our assistant manager Scott Lindsey who was a big personality at the club was a bad start, then not replacing the likes of Christian Doidge or Reece Brown with anyone near as good and overall going with a very young squad and appointing a director of football who made a pigs ear of the January transfer window. We got away with it up till November but have fallen apart since then with confidence draining, fans turning on Cooper (and some on Vince too) all whilst Cooper being his usual non abrasive self (lol) and falling out with fans, players and local media isn't likely to help when you're crashing down the league either.

If there were two relegation places up for grabs we would be starting to get worried. Most teams we play are amazed at how awful we are, and 8 of our last 11 games are against teams in the top half. If we don't beat Orient we'll be coming to the County Ground in two weeks on a run of 2 wins in 20. Incoming hammering....

Allegedly we are 17th this year which is surprisingly low and lower then ever before (but partly down to the costs of the take over).

Bodes well for next season when it will surely be higher.

Right, back by popular demand(well, one person asked for it), it's the real league two table. Quick guide for those unfamiliar with this. It just shows what line teams need to hit to likely hit promotion, based on various averages. The predicted line is simply done by working out each teams current points per game average and then using that to guess how many points they might finish on. So, Swindon have 66 points after 34 games. Thats a 1.76 PPG pace. Times that by 46 and it predicts they'll finish on 89 points. And so on for each of the other teams. It's not perfect, but it's the easiest way to predict things.

So, good weekend for Swindon, who only lose one point at the top but gain a game in hand. Their run in looks very favourable, even if their away form is a bit iffy of late.

Crewe miss a great chance to go top and put some distance between them and those below them by drawing at Morecambe. Got a horrible midweek trip to Exeter next up, oh joy. Lose that if Plymouth win, then it gets really bunched up in that top 5. Exeter also had a bad result, drawing at home to Crawley. Still, a win Tuesday puts that right behind them.

Cheltenham are on a 5 game winning run. Peaked too early, or just at the right time? Port Vale at home for them next, a win would set them up nicely to try and break into the top 3. Plymouth lose again, 3 without a win and potentially losing form at the worst time. Still, their next 4 are all very favourable, good chance to get back on track there.

Northampton had been losing ground after 4 defeats in 5, but they get a good result at Grimsby and have a nice next few weeks to really kick on a solidify a top 7 spot. Port Vale drop yet more home points, those home draws have been a real issue all season. Their run in is tough, especially over the next few weeks.

Colchester are losing steam fast, as they seem to do every season around this stage. Lost 4 of their last 6. Got a few mid-table teams coming up in the next few weeks, so a chance to get back into that top 7. Bradford won't go away thanks to their home form, but they can't buy a win on the road. And their final 5 away games aren't easy at all.

So, looking like a wide open battle between 5 teams for the automatic places. Then it's any 2 from 4 for the final top 7 spots. As it stands anyway.

Big midweek games coming up, with 4 of the top 5 all in action, including a big 6 pointer between Exeter and Crewe. All to play for with 10/11 games to go.

For us its probably for the best three of our next five games are against promotion contenders as we seem much more comfortable playing them teams than any of the bottom half.

Still thinking around 74 points will be needed to make the playoffs.

Our Home form is joint-second best in the league, but it’s our away form which has held us back throughout the season.

We have five home games left - all winnable! If we have any play-off aspirations, we need to turn this away form on its head, starting with Salford away next week. We then have Vale away, in what will be very important game. Other away games feature the likes of Exeter, FGR and Northampton.

We play Walsall at home on the last day, which could be season defining. They have a shocking record at VP - so that’ll be a home banker in itself.

Feel a fraud posting in the promotion thread but given us and Plymouth are both here... Good win yesterday, the pitch looked atrocious but actually the ball rolled fine bar the odd patch, apparently we trained on it given our normal training pitch has been underwater. Plymouth left so much room in behind and we really should’ve had at least 4 if not 5 but for Novak hitting a one on one straight at the keeper and Donaldson putting a pull back wide from 6 yards and another good save from the keeper with Connolly through on goal.

Great evening for us. Fairly routine 2-0 win at home to Scunny and another 2 goals from Doyle who had been going through a bit of a barren spell. With Crewe and Exeter drawing we have a bit of a gap and a game in hand away at Mansfield to come.

FGR at home on Saturday should on paper yield another 3 points. We would have to be going some to not get 1 of the auto promotion spots from here!! Loads of games for us in March mind you so the squad might be tested.

I'm absolutely livid with Lee Swabey. As one-sided a ref as I've ever seen. Gave us absolutely nothing all game while awarding Crewe free kicks as soon as we went near the ball. I'm frankly shocked that a referee who is from Plymouth and openly admits to "keeping an eye out" for plymouth results is allowed to referee our games, especially crunch games like this one.

The FA want their head examining.

So, we have a new leader at the top with 9 to go, as the Alex made it 4 unbeaten with a routine win over Stevenage. Their run in looks very tough though, especially those away games, possibly Cambridge aside. Pressure is now on to keep the teams below them at bay.

Swindon won in midweek, but then lost to FGR today and slip to 2nd. Back to back away games now, chance to get back on track given those 2 teams and where they are in the table. Plymouth come steamrollering up behind both teams with 6 points from 2 home wins. Funny that now their home schedule gets very difficult whilst the away games look favourable.

Exeter continue to lose ground at the worst time, losing to Walsall today pushes them to no wins in 4 and only 3 in their last 10, none of them being to teams outside the bottom 6. Still, some winnable home games now before the big crunch game at Plymouth. Cheltenham only managed a draw with Port Vale, but now have 4 bottom half teams to come next. Still well within a shout at the top 3.

Colchester won at Carlisle, 4 points from their next 2 games puts them comfortably in line for a top 7 spot. Northampton lose again, now losing 5 of their last 7. The next 4 look winnable, but I have my doubts about Curle's ability to get a team over the line. Are they bottling it?

The Vale continue to draw too many games, but they have a great run at home to finish the season, if they can put up 3 to 4 wins from that lot, then they'll surely be in the top 7 or very close to it. Bradford though, oy vey! What is it with their away form, how can you be that abysmal on the road yet so good at home? Reminds me of us from the 10-11 season. I mean, looking at their away fixtures, even if they win all of their home games it might not be enough. You can never count them out, but if they don't win an away game soon, maybe we should.

Looks like Crewe are central to the plays offs conundrum. We play all 4 of the contenders for what, I guess, is 2 available slots. We need points to try to maintain an automatic promotion. Buckle up it’s going to be quite a ride!
