A bit like Bradford. You’ve done your time so no moans from me if you go up.

Difference is Bradford don't really belong down here though. We're Exeter City, the lower leagues is our home. But yes, a stint in league 1 is now definitely due.

Just lost our first choice centre backs for the next 2/3 games which are Bradford away, Exeter at home and Tranmere away.

We need to be more clinical away from home if we want to go for automatics.

No more calls for Garner out lately? :pond:
Playing Scunthorpe and Carlisle in our last 2 games as well as changing the system from the 3 centre backs to the 2 has improved things. Difficult to tell how much the system change has affected things as Scunny and Carlisle were both abject. Walsall at home on Tuesday will be more interesting.

Yeah we have just played 2 poor sides in Sutton and Stevenage but completely outplayed both. We are quietly creeping up on the play offs and hitting form at just the right time...

You were definitely miles better the second time we played you. Handy midfield. I wouldn't personally pick Rovers as likely for the play offs but I don't think there are stand out sides in the league so I wouldn't fall off my seat if you did squeak in.

We are playing miles better now than we did at yours and that's even without our best player Evans.
We are quite happy letting you guys argue promotion amongst yourselves while we fly down the outside.
A win against an off form Orient on Tuesday will add to that

After playing the top 3 in the last 4 games (drawing against all 3) we go into 5 games against sides mid table/lower down so hopefully with Gibbons and Proctor back and Conlon close we can push on and make the games in hand count

You should fill your boots against Stevenage they looks devoid of ideas against us today. ..although they will have the mighty Zain Westbrooke available after not being eligible to play this afternoon.

It’s one of those annoying conundrums, we’ve drawn 0-0 at bradford and 1-1 away at newport which has kept our unbeaten run going, but we’d have been better off if we won 1 and lost 1

We both know the ref in our game probably kept your unbeaten run going.

Tranmere must be sweating with Swindon and Exeter breathing down their necks! Gonna be a good finish at the top

Saturday should be interesting with a number of the promotion chasers playing each other. We need to win our game against Stevenage but it's the likes of them who give our team fits. We're very comfortable playing all the sides in the top 7 but the Stevenage's of the world we never seem to have the killer instinct against.

Swindon win their game in hand they’re 1 point. behind.

we’re 6 behind with 3 games in hand. it’s all bunched up (though i maintain we won’t come anywhere close to the top 3)

I don’t expect Sutton to stay in the top 7.

I’m no longer confident of top 3. But Northampton’s result yesterday just shows anything can happen. I still believe in our squad but we need to look at a change of tactic fairly sharpish to have any real chance.

Actually quite like the fact we play some of the teams around us in the next few weeks. Win a couple and you’re starting to look good again!

Normally by now you’d have eliminated a fair few teams from contention but this season certainly for playoff contenders it’s growing. Got to now consider Hartlepool in the race. Maybe even go as far down as Crawley. I know Bradford are on the same points as them but they’ve played more games and something seriously is amiss there that not sure it’s a quick fix this season.

For us we need to turn draws into wins and need Conlon back to get the creativity back... and probably need to go back to the formula that worked before the injury and covid crisis.

We look pretty much rock solid and dont give many chances away but have stopped looking lethal in front of goal unlike when we were hitting 3,4 and 5's earlier in the season regularly.

4 huge games now, Stevenage and Crawley at home and Harrogate and Colchester away, we are still not badly placed, win games in hand on each team we overhaul Newport, Bristol Rovers, Sutton and be a point of Tranmere so still very much in our own hands but we cant afford to throw away silly points like we did last night, had we won that as we should have we would be very positive.

If we dont make the top 7 with the squad we currently have and investment made it will feel a massive under achievement despite the rotten luck we have had with injuries and covid.

Kicked into overdrive the last three games since moving to a back 4. Also had some new players to fit into the side so Garner has done well to get us out the other side of the rough patch we were in. Still plenty of time for the season to go either way but think we have too many good players to finish outside the top 7 personally. Famous last words.

We really need to let the shackles off now as we’ve seemed a little too cautious. Our thing under DC has been to have different game plans for different opponents but to me we’ve gone a little further in terms of setting out to stop a team than exploit them. Last night with a bit more intent that last minute goal would have been a moot point.

Obviously nothing is ever handed to you but it’s about time we cut loose and give out a few right good hidings to teams down here. In the league we’ve only done it once at Crawley. If we keep letting teams hang around in games you’re going to get one with your name on it sooner than later.

Yep, seems to be some suggested DC wont be back at the club until the summer as well now going off OVF which is a footballing blow (but entirely understandable).

We have had some rotten luck and without the bonkers spate of injuries where we literally had zero forwards and forth I am sure we'd still be in the auto's challenge, but as DC would say we cant use it as an excuse and have to get on with it.

Saturday is crucial now.
