So 6 games left, 3 points separate the top 3, who going to blink first?

The one trend I'm noticing is that all of the matches that have been pegged as tricky for Rovers and Grimsby seem to be when those clubs are at their lowest ebb! Dover have been terrible of late so of course Grimsby have them, same for Macclesfield. Typical innit.

Just got to keep on pulling results out of our arse. Which I think could happen until Halifax.

Barnet's GD is a pain in the arse as we have to make up 4 points essentially. The thing is we've got nothing to lose really, but now that we're almost within touching distance we'll probably start feeling the pressure of actually having a chance. Reckon we finally have a squad that can handle it though.

Absolute game changer tonight, wind in our sails and another difficult away trip resulting in us going home with 3 massive points. It is a case of who blinks first. We have the 'easiest' game of the lot on Saturday which see's all of us going away, Rovers have that advantage of going first, though a trip to Macc is as hard as it gets.

The closer we get, the harder 'that' game at Chester is to swallow.

Dover won their last 3 before tonight.. Also stop thinking you're getting it hard. Us and Grimsby don't get a penalty every game and don't play against 10 men for 70 minutes most games

Weren't Dover 2nd in the home form table? There's twisting stats and there's just changing them!

Good win for Grimsby that, game on!

Dover had won 3 in a row and were top 10 in the form guide even higher when you include the last 10 games, even Easleigh are still 5th in the last 10 form guide after losing to us, not sure how we are facing them at a good time, especially when Barnet last three games have been Altrincham, Halifax and Welling, three sides in the bottom half of the form guide? Not our fault we just happen to have won 9 of the last 12!

It'll be such a relief when this macclesfield game is over with! Very confident with the other 5 games. Especially our 3 home games

'#GTFC have now scored in 19 consecutive away league games, a club record. Town last failed to score on the road on opening day v Bristol Rovers'

Never realised that, quite impressive.

Forest Green are the only team who haven't lost a league game by a two goal margin so far this season, that is what I call tight defending.

It's certainly set up for a fantastic climax to a bang average season.

Macclesfield still in with a chance but looking extremely unlikely now.

Alfreton failing to win either of their last two home games must give us confidence that we can get a positive result there on Saturday.

Grimsby in particular looking a real threat now.

It's definitely about holding your nerve from here on in and our GD could yet prove the difference.

Exciting times! :ds:

Er, we played FGR and Eastleigh after we played Alty!

Surprising really considering your defence is rather poor. Guess you score a lot more though

Yeah, don't think there's much truth in that either. Just off the top of my head; we played Brizzle when they were 15 or 16 matches unbeaten, FGR when they'd won 4 on the bounce and we had Macc as our Christmas matches.

Due to last nights games shuffling the form table I thought I'd do an update.
Avg form Bristol 3.5, Grimsby 3, Barnet 7th
Average form position of teams being played
Bristol 11th, Grimsby 15th, Barnet 16th
Difference in avg, Bristol 7.5, Grimsby 12, Barnet 9.
So it's really just confirmed that the Bristol run in is tougher and reinforces Grimsby as the team least likely to slip.

Grimsby's home form will be the issue, they were just above mid-table on that a couple of weeks ago, not sure where now.

We had a season in L2 under KA where where we were brilliant away but didn't pick enough points up at home (11 draws I think).

Currently 5th on home form alone, we have won 4 of the last 5 and the loss was to Bristol, and only have Gateshead, Wrexham and Aldershot at home left.

We might have the easiest run in on paper, but games aren't won on paper and I can't help feeling we have peaked now and got into this position can we really win our final 6 which would mean winning 12 out of 13 final games? Seems very unlikely to me and I feel we need to win all 6 because one more loss for us would see us out of it with Barnets GD.

Sat right next to Mr Martin Allen for the majority of last night in the press area. He seems a really approachable and nice guy. He also announced that Akinde wont be fit for saturday and will miss the game. Apparently he damaged his hamstring last time out but should be back for Nuneaton. Nice bonus for us but if we play like we did last night. It could be any number for Barnet.

he probably went away thinking "if we dont get maximum points from Alfreton/Dartford we dont deserve to go up.!

He's said that sort of thing about Akinde before a match and lo and behold he turns up in the starting line up for our next match. It's a typical Martin Allen tactic!
Mind you, if that is the case with Akinde that's the first anyone's heard of it.

As I keep saying. Just because they're higher in the league doesn't make it tougher. Chester are higher then alfreton and we have chester at home and you have alfreton away. I know which id prefer

I'm not using league positions, according to form the teams you would currently want to play are Chester, Dartford, Lincoln, Torquay, Altrincham, Welling and Kidderminster. While the teams to avoid are Grimsby, Woking, Bristol, Alfreton, Nuneaton, FGR and Southport.

This really proves the theory that mid-table sides with nothing to play for or (as good as) already relegated teams are preferable to those fighting at the top and bottom.

You're thinking to much. Just let the games be played. Doesn't matter who has the easier run in because there's no obvious team who has the easier run in so it can't be that much difference. This league is so unpredictable it doesn't really matter if the teams inform or not. End of the day we all have 6 games of 90 minutes to play 11 vs 11 well for some of us anyway. May the best team win

I'd be surprised if any of the top three win their remaining 6, so there will be some twists and turns to come yet.

The Easter fixtures are usually pivotal and there are some interesting dyamics for the top three.

Bristol Rovers look to have two nice fixtures, Chester home and Kiddy away and have brought their first game forward to give an extra days rest. If you have to play away three days after a match, you'd be ok with that fixture.

Grimsby have Gateshead home and Alfreton away. Could be a real test against Gateshead looking for points for play-offs and then a trip two days later to a side desperate for points to stay up. With Alfreton playing at Wrexham on the Saturday, will they look to target one game over the other when picking their teams for both games.

Barnet have a double header against relegation threatened Nuneaton and Dartford. Nuneaton play Braintree on the Monday, so do they hedge their bets on their team selection on the Saturday. Dartford face a long trip back from Torquay on the Saturday before the early KO live on TV. I think given their position that they have to win every game so don't have the luxury of resting players to target one specific game.
