Go on then, go back and quote me on that because I said from the day they left that is was the RIGHT decision. I'll await your reply.
I don't know whether you thought it was the right decision or not and I'm really not arsed enough to check but at the time the general feeling was that hursts man management was a weakness which was costing Grimsby both players and points so either the bloke has improved , if so fair enough or more likely imo your fantastic run has glossed over his problems . Anyway good luck , I like Grimsby and your fans . Hope you go up just not at our expense obviously .

The Grimsby fan who regularly attends wwe ppv's at wrestlemania last night has placed his bet.

Tbf, I'm a fan of his work. Hope he's wrong though!

His signs last night were funny as fuck, the Ollie Palmer one was amazing!

I don't know what the record gate for a Conf play off final is -- But just imagine if Grimsby had to play Rovers . I reckon you would get somewhere in the region of 70 + Thousand.

The record is 42,669 set by Oxford v York in 2010. I would imagine there'd be around 50,000 Gas and 25,000 Grimsby were it to happen.

Yeah, 40k/25kish would be about right I reckon. We took over 30k to the Autowindscreens final in 1998 but wouldn't quite reach that now I don't think.

I think 50K is an exaggeration, I remember they managed 40K for that Play-Off Final against Shrewsbury the division above back in 2007 though - was there that day. (Long story)

70K total would be possible, and great exposure for this division.

70,000 would be amazing, a 5th tier football match getting a crowd like that wouldn't happen anywhere else in the world.

Alternatively, it's still possible the final could be us v Eastleigh. Not sure if that would attract quite as many!

Think ours would be closer to 20k than 25k, the novelty of Wembley has worn off, play off final or not.

If we both miss out on Auto though I have a feeling at least 1 of us would bottle it in the Semi's, us not for the first time, sadly. :conf:

We'll bottle it too. 4 play off semi-finals and 0 finals. Solid record.

Although we have never been the higher placed team going into a play-off tie.

Seeing as it's virtually impossible for is to finish below 3rd, it's written that we will win the title.

We don't do play offs with home advantage second :)

That's fair enough. I'm not sure any good player we've lost was down to poor man management, Aswad Thomas and Scott Neilson are both top players in this division but neither were fit for our cause. Neilson found success playing in an attack free-role for a couple of games, Hurst changed things around and Neilson never found form again. Could be a coincidence or could be poor decision making from Hurst but it's no secret that Neilson was never really 100% committed. What Hurst has done is sign players who are 100% committed, any that aren't don't stay long.

The dressing room at the minute is at a high that hasn't been seen in many years. Hurst is the one who put those bunch of players together. That's one thing I'll always praise him for, he knows a good player and he knows a committed one. He's also not afraid to get rid of someone who's not no matter how good they are. He might not always know what to do with his players on the pitch and that's where the majority of his stick comes from, but for the time being he's not tampering with a winning system and that's probably the best thing for him to do.

Anyway I don't mean to write an essay at you, this is just a general post about Paul Hurst Football Genius, but if there's one thing I absolutely hate is being called fickle when my opinions very rarely change.

We took 42,000 in the league two play off so would probably be 35,000 minimum if this was to happen

I know they're not going to surge into the Play Offs but being as though it's being discussed in here how many Wrexham fans went to Wembley? They seem to have been what 3 times in 4 seasons?

I remember York only taking around 6/7000 the other year when they had to play the FA Trophy final the week after they went up through the Play Offs. It would have been more if they'd just let us win that Semi Final!

No way would we take 50,000! I wish!

I reckon we'd take 30,000+. A lot of the floating Bristol support won't be that interested in the conference, especially as a load of them will have already gone to Wembley to watch City already this season. But you never know, we took 40,000 and 42000 to the Millennium and Wembley with only about 6 weeks gap between the two

I too am not convinced we'd even take 40. We have done it before, yes, but Wembley was brand new at the time. City have had a trip so some of the types who would go to either team in a big game might steer clear. 30/35 would be my guess, which is still decent.

As you mention the dressing room, I see Gowling has been interviewed in the local rag and he mentioned the togetherness amongst the players after only being with them a few days.

"The lads have been great with me,"
"I came down on the coach with them all on Thursday and all of us sat together on Friday and watched the England game.
"That's new to me because, before whenever I've gone away with teams, as soon as we've got to the hotel, they all scuttle off to their rooms and no-one bothers with each other.
"But here, there's an incredible team spirit here – it's great to see and great to be a part of."

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but have all the contenders for promotion and the play offs been given the green light for entry to the 'promised land'?

Is that still a thing? I can't imagine anyone (aside from maybe the bottom five at a push) would have facilities deemed unacceptable for FL use.

P.S. I'm assuming you mean from Conference to FL? Or are you talking North/South to Conference?

Yes conf to FL.
You will be surprised. Aldershot ended up with that stupid mechano set down one end (which they rarely used) as they didn't have enough seats.

I believe we still have an issue with the terms of our lease not allowing us to play league football at The Hive.

One would hope that it is a formality to get it amended, but you never know.

How long does this sort of thing take? I remember this discussion earlier in the season, but given your position in the league I'd have thought they would have got on with it!!

No idea. When you are dealing with a council then I'd be reluctant to have any degree of confidence. I suppose we can only have faith that it is in hand given how much of a game changer it would be.

The main worry would be when does this have to be in place to satisfy the league? It might not necessarily be the end of the season, this date could quite easily have passed already! I doubt it has, just these things always remind me of the joke situation we found ourselves in all them years ago being refused entry because the deadline for ground improvements was the end of January, 4 months before the end of the season, never mind the start of the following season!

Maybe as a precaution you should forfeit your right to promotion should you finish top, and let Grimsby and Bristol Rovers scrap it out instead.....? ;) ;)
