It's getting quite exciting, isn't it?

I don't think we'll catch Barnet as we've given ourselves too much to do. Having said that, we outplayed Barnet at our place and I think other teams could inflict defeat on them if they are prepared to put pressure on their defence and attack - as their recent defeats on the road prove.

It certainly isn't over yet but I think the play-offs is where we will end up.
Askey admitted in his interview yesterday that he is starting to get excited.
A win on Tuesday would be massive for us, however with Alty top of the form table it is going to be far from a walkover.

I genuinely think we will beat you on Tuesday, probably another smash-and-grab job. Looking forward to a first trip to Moss Rose.

Just seen we are 100/30 to win Tuesday, too big IMO

If we play like we did on Saturday then you will without a doubt beat us. The lack of effort shown in the last two matches and the backlash received from fans hopefully should be enough to get the players pumped for this one.

We have under performed twice against Alty, Askey won't let that happen again.. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a draw though.

I'm surprised Gateshead are getting mentioned - they haven't beaten a top half side once this season!

Gateshead are 6 points off fifth with three games in hand and their next two fixtures are home to Nuneaton and away at Dartford.

I feel they have a great chance of making the top five now that they are out of the Trophy.

Yeah I think Scott Boden's got a link so he can cry himself to sleep with regret that he joined Halifax! :woo:

The point about not beating a top half side is a valid one and one that maybe our undoing this year. That said, we have drawn a few which we should have won and our defence is tighter now, we have a proper left back and a bit more steel in midfield. A lot will depend on whether we can keep the two Newcastle lads as their loans are up on the 14th. Achieving fifth place is a possibility and if we do it would be great to get Grimsby in the play-offs again.

Kept out of the side by Baxter at the moment. To be honest he is a bit light weight and gets caught out of position very easily, not offered much and to honest not impressed at all.

Not a chance we will catch Barnet, our away games are just too tough. All home games we should win but away we still have: Grimsby Gateshead, Halifax, Macclesfield, Kidderminster and Dover. All very tough games.

Long way to go yet.
Your fixture at Grimsby on Saturday is absolutely MASSIVE.

If you were to win that, it's not inconceivable that you will go top on 24th Feb, albeit having played more games than the rest of us.

It would be pretty amazing if Macc managed to get promoted. Though I don't think they'll manage it in the end. Barnet and Grimsby to get promoted imo.

Not sure I could handle it if we lose to Rovers and beat Barnet to help the former win the league, though to be honest I wouldn't wanna face either in the play-offs. On one side there's the chance that both will run it extremely close and the ones that miss out will feel the headache in the playoffs ie Kidderminster, but on the flip side they could just outclass everyone ie Cambridge. I've not even factored Macclesfield into all of this.

I wanna say I'm confident this year, we've got a better team now I think and we've had two years of play-off experience. But at the end of the day, it's experience in losing. I think this is the year we finally do it or we become Lincoln.

Having lead the table since the end of August, I think we would find it difficult to go up through the play offs.

I don't want to get ahead of myself or start thinking we are invincible because we haven't lost in the league since October, but I am confident that we are solid enough to get at least a draw in every away game. Not one team, bar Gateshead in the first half at our place, have outplayed or looked all that threatening against us since the first week of the season, and I see no reason why that will change unless things go disastrously wrong in our camp.

Our problem is being clinical enough to go on and win the game but that could change in the blink of an eye. We haven't had much luck on the road recently and it would be nice if that changes at Grimsby on Saturday!

Just got my ticket for Grimsby and got the very last coach ticket. If I'm honest, I think we'll lose.

Macc will have no problems at all on Saturday at Sourhport. Brabin leaving really has left them in dire straits.

Aye. The three points will be like money for nothing.

Although we rarely play well, we keep getting results and our record against most of the other contenders is actually not too bad, having taken 4 points off Rovers, 3 points off Grimsby, Kiddy, Woking and Halifax and drawn twice with Eastleigh and at Macc.
If we can actually start playing well, then our run in looks pretty decent on paper, and we could still have a good chance of getting in the top 5 despite the points deduction.
