Stags winning 1-0 at Grimsby. DKD scored the winner ten minutes from the end after coming on as sub a few minutes earlier.

We missed loads of chances but the defence was pretty much playing with carpet slippers and pipe on against a rather toothless Mariner’s side.

Saying that though, I thought the Mariners played it about pretty well first half. I don’t expect them to be near bottom of table.

I keep reading that friendlies are meaningless, bloody hope so because we look short of goals, our two first choice centre mids are injured, we scored an own goal to lose our first game today and looked pretty goal shy overall.
On the upside, keeper is a massive upgrade, defence looks more solid and we were organised and controlled.
Poor old Cedwyn Scott who's a natural no 9 is in a hole on the left, neither a 10 or a wingback looks like he could play there all season and never score a goal.
If we play Crowley as a holding midfielder combined with losing Langstaff, we'll effectively be 43 goals down on last season.
Wing backs playing on the wrong sides offering very little.
Slocombe is unbelievably past it, effectively we have one keeper at the club as the other pair aren't worth a carrot.

Beat a Stockport team 2-1. don’t think it was anywhere near their strongest team, but it was a better performance than the recent two shit shows.

Our midfield is dire though, so bad. It will get absolutely butchered next weekend unless we strengthen it this week.

Again, I don't pay any attention to preseason. I believe Salford lost 5-2 at Rochdale today, but you can bet they'll be far better next week. Glad that we're nearly at the real stuff to be honest.

Nowt’s won in august.
I’m hoping a few expectation’s having been tempered in ST .
All the sane vale fans saw this coming, a slow start for us, if we have to play any of that shite from last year we’re gonna struggle.
I’m sure we’ll be ok, eventually

I always think back to the Pre season we had under Gudjon where we tore it up and almost got relegated

I do think we are still no where near ready and expect us to have a terrible start. Normally I'd say Maynard will be gone but think the brothers really back him. Expecting a tough season mainly as the squad still isn't looking right

I actually watched some cricket yesterday - Bath v Frochester - before watching a Pink Floyd tribute in act opposite the cricket ground.

Always make noise wherever we go, though the dive was absolute quality, deserved the yellow, was laughing for a while on that

Thought the first half was pretty even and grimsby really went at it, what was the issue with danny rose coming on for 10 mins and going back off?

2nd half whether it be a flea in the ear from clough or a plan we upped the game and with respect grimsby didn’t get anywhere close, we dominated thoroughout- our finishing was shite though.

A bit different on friday night away at barnsley with 3,000 plus in the away end.

Wish grimsby the best for the season x
Danny Rose was supposed to play 30 minutes, but he asked for an extra 10 minutes as he felt OK, it was pre-arranged for 30 mins because he hasn't played at all because of injury.

Objection Sir , Tranmere played 4 friendlies - wins v Preston 2-0 , Blackpool 3-1 and Wigan 2-1 as well as drawing 3 all with Fylde , average points 2.50. If ratified this will put us above Bromley

Been busy for a couple of days, but I watched the first game against Peterborough and thought we played really well with it basically being both first XIs. Dominated possession and created the better chances throughout while looking really solid. Missing them and conceding a comedy own goal to lose aren’t necessarily the vibes we want, I suppose, but I came out of it feeling reasonably optimistic.

Didn’t bother with the second one when I saw we were playing seven trialists or whatever it was, not learning anything from that. McGoldrick has seemed sharp all pre-season, though - he can still be a real weapon for us I think if we manage his minutes more sensibly this year.

No they really wouldn’t. Everyone said this about them last year and they were shite. I think they’ll do well to get play offs in the NL next season, owner is a complete clown
Only 9 games in, but my little shout for the title is right on track.....you could see how well they countered all pre season.
