One more friendly added away at Bath City on Saturday 20th July. Now this sounds like a fun one to go to. We won’t have played there since Bristol Rovers used it as their old stomping ground for a bit.
Assume the Pre Season Camp is in Somerset then rather than our usual Alicante!

We now have a pre season training camp to start things off in Portugal (no games) and we've also added a game vs RCD Mallorca, sadly not away from home, but a behind closed doors game in the UK.

We’ve added a game away at MSV Duisburg on 20th July, just sorted out a dirt cheap trip over for it this morning, should be great fun.

Ahead of the PSF Tournament, these are the friendlies I have for the first week - am I missing anything:
05/07/2024
06/07/2024
07/07/2024
Bishop's Cleeve v CheltenhamAccrington v BlackburnCrusaders v Salford
Penrith v CarlisleChorley v Bradford
Newcastle Town v Port ValeMatlock v Chesterfield
Bamber Bridge v Fleetwood
Kendal v Morecambe
Kidsgrove v Port Vale
Swindon Supermarine v Swindon Town

If I'm missing anything - give me a shout.

A reminder of the rules:

- Games must be two 45 min halves - no three lots of 30 mins or any of that bullshit.
- Teams must be predominantly first teams, as Morecambe have 5 players signed on, the minimum number of senior pros will be 5
- The table is decided by Points per Game, then Goal Difference, then Goals Scored. If still level after that, I'll think of something else.

This is a very old trophy which might mean something to someone for winning it. Although no one outside of a de13 -14 postcode has ever heard of it.
We have played it against Stoke, Leicester and derby in the past.
Basically it’s a pre season friendly with a trophy bought from sports direct to present for winning.

First one done tonight. 3-1 win at Newcastle Town. Tolaj and Chislett X2 the scorers. Good workout, named separate teams in each half.

I was there. He walked off. Not really a limp.

He got smashed on the shin but played on, then about 20 minutes later got kicked in the face so went off.

I’d be surprised if either the shin or head injury are that serious.

A few concerning signs for me in the performance however.

7-1 win against Bishops Cleeve and still not enough to lead the early table :D

We had two trialists in the first half, Deon Moore who was at Sutton last season and Harry Perrit (we think) in defence. Moore looked ok, but not sure he's good enough and I don't recall anything that Perrit did. Second half was made up of trialists and I got no names, but I barely watched it anyway because the rain was relentless and the bar was much nicer.

1-0 down to Chorley within the first minute, any bonus points for this?

1-0 win at Kidsgrove today. Ronan Curtis opening his account. Same formula as yesterday with separate teams in each half.

Have Morecambe even got enough players at the moment to field an XI? Presumably a few triallists there.

Was the academy team that played
As of yet we are still in the dark as what players or squad size Derek has managed to put together

Liked the look of Dunkley. Absolute man mountain, won’t be long until he has the armband off Grimes either, seemed a real leader, never stopped organising from the minute he came on.

Thought Colclough & Jacobs looked sharp too. Think a full pre season will do Jacobs the world of good as we signed him on the eve of last season starting, and I don’t think we really saw the best of him last year.

Honestly I really like Jacobs. I think he oodles class, the way he never looks rushed in possession. Very good player. Agree on Dunkley being a better captain. It doesn't really need saying either but Paddy Madden will be absolutely fine. You can see he's sharp and clever
