Dont think it will matter aldershot should finish 5 th

At the moment its Gateshead's to lose. The next week will tell if we are in the running. Feel we need 4 points from Sutton and Dagenham and we cant lose to Macclesfield next weekend!

There seems a big gap in quality between the top 4 and the teams battling for fifth.

Quality is missing from this entire league.

Quality is missing from this entire league.

Strong evidence suggests otherwise. 2 teams in the FA Cup 5th round, 1 in the quarters, all 4 trophy semi finalists national league clubs.

This is the strongest this league has been in years, all the top 10 sides managed by top class experienced managers and no whipping boyz at the other end.

Only Woking, Southport and NFU are genuinely shit.

Surely York are also shit by the logic given they're 5 points behind Woking.

Torquay are shit due to the fact we've beaten them 3 times this season.

Indeed our cup run we beat a league one, two championship and premiership side (away!)

Our quality of football, especially at home, is very good, but we struggle against more physical teams. We're also probably a goalscorer away from being a top 3/4 team at the moment, but thats good progress from last year.

Saturdays game is pivotal. If we win then it's a three horse race, anything less and it'll be tough for us to stay in it. Tranmere with all their home games coming up are arguably second favourites, especially if we don't win at SB.

Amazing to think if we'd beaten Lincoln at home, which at 2 up and cruising we should have done, we'd be 8 points clear at the top and looking like favourites at this point. Shows how big these 6 pointers can be.

Be under no illusions, you'll be favourites to see it out if you come and beat us. Likewise for us if it's vice versa.

Given our unconvincing recent performances, I'm still pessimistic. However, we have the best home form in the league, and most of our remaining games are there, so we do stand a chance. I still fancy Lincoln to see it out though - they're the only team we can't mathematically catch without them slipping up.

Whatever happens, it's going to be an interesting few months!

A quick pointless exercise... I've predicted the final table, based purely on home and away PPG over the season so far. This gets rid of any 'we've got loads of home games left' ambiguity, and takes games in hand into account. Not many surprises...

1 Lincoln City 95
2 Forest Green Rovers 91
3 Tranmere Rovers 91
4 Dagenham & Redbridge 81
5 Dover Athletic 78

6 Gateshead 78
7 Aldershot Town 76
8 Macclesfield Town 75
9 Barrow 74
10 Wrexham 63
11 Eastleigh 61
12 Boreham Wood 61
13 Bromley 59
14 Solihull Moors 58
15 Chester FC 57
16 Sutton United 57
17 Guiseley AFC 55
18 Braintree Town 53
19 Maidstone United 51
20 Woking 49
21 Torquay United 47
22 York City 44
23 North Ferriby United 39
24 Southport 38

Saturday is huge for Lincoln and FGR, don't think there's a bad result for us there if we do our business.

Then by the time we play FGR everything will be a lot clearer you'd imagine.

Can't see how it could happen but wouldn't it be great if all three sides had equal points and GD going into last game? Straight shoot out for title. BT would be rubbing their hands to the bank

That would create a unique situation where it would be in all 3 teams hands. Which game would BT show?

Do you even have to ask? It'd obviously be everybody's favourite FA quarter finalists, FA trophy semi finalists and giant killers, Lincoln City! Any excuse to get the lovable rogue Matt Rhead back on the telly!
