Merry Christmas to all.
This delightful couple run a newsagents & general store in Twickenham, and I think in this photo show the true spirit of Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all.
Er Rugby is the home of rugby.
Home of Rugby Union, the greatest game on earth bar none.
Absolutely brilliant.....haven't hee hawed so much for ages......once again....brilliant.....
I about feignted there, don't do that to me claret! Not a pretty picture - don't look Salty, don't look mate.....prohibition begins and alcohol is poured down the drain circa 1921
Which is why about eight people bother to follow it.
8 British and Irish Lions fans on tour. (with some of the 25'000 others who went with them, just for a laugh).
25,000 fans across Britain and Ireland for one of the biggest events in the sports calendar - Oxford United took 35,000 to Wembley for a game of conference football. Nothing sport.
Oxford is around 50 miles from Wembley. New Zealand is on the other side of the world. Only a difference of about 11'400 miles. Give or take.
When Oxford United take 25'000 fans to Australia, New Zealand or South Africa for a two month tour at a cost of many thousands of pounds you'll have a point, until then you're only posting a straw man argument.
Oxford United. One of the league's junior clubs - didn't even join the league until 1963, and have only spent a total of three seasons in the top flight - A minor, lower league club............ and you attempt to conflate their fan base with a global sport which is third in popularity only to the Olympic Games and Football (in that order). Sorry, but it just doesn't hold water.
Incidentally, I notice that their recent home defeat to Bury (the bottom club in League One) attracted less than six and a half thousand fans. Where are your 35'000 now? Fairweather fans who jumped on a Wembley bandwagon, perhaps..?
I've got more I can throw at you, but I'm holding it back in case you want to keep this going. I've got plenty of ammo. Best let it drop here, eh.?
By insulting Oxford you only prove my point. I absolutely agree with you - they are a nothing club. Thinking a sport is serious because one of its major events attracts less fans than a non-league away day for a nothing club just doesn't hold water.
Comparing our game against bury would be like me comparing the average rugby union premiership away attendance to the attendance on a lions tour. Would you like to run those numbers? Or are the lions fans just fairweather fans who jumped on the jolly-to-Oz bandwagon perhaps?
I can't wait to see what you kept in reserve but I hope it's better than thinking I'll cry because Oxford United aren't Barcelona.
