Bet he’ll be falling over a fair bit at Orient on Tuesday….
Hopefully he doesn’t get up from one of the times he end up on the deck. Would love Pratley to put a proper reducer in, but my personal favourite would be Ebou falling too theatrically and breaking his own ankle.

When Matt was playing for Newport it was a competition between him and Labadie who could get the most free kicks and opposition players booked or sent off. It has to be said Matt is not in Labadie`s class in this respect. That guy is in a League of his own. Maybe he has changed club Matt isn`t as bad now as I haven`t seen him play for FGR yet.

I know we're all biased towards our club but surely you're having me on here.

You can see our defender win the ball from every single angle, none of your players even appeal for it which says a lot
Video at 1' 40"clearly shows defender takes Matt's legs from under him.
Correct penalty decision.

I mean if you ignore him poking the ball away from Matt before he brings him down then yeah, the fact he wins the ball first kind of makes that part irrelevant

Penalty at 1'40"

In view of the differing opinions regarding the penalty incident, I contacted a working referee for an independent assessment. He reviewed the footage a number of times and then wrote:

“The Scunthorpe No 12 player put in Reckless tackle from the side making contact with No 14 Forest Green left leg and bringing him down, an act with disregard to the danger to or consequences for an opponent In the Penalty area.”

In his opinion it was a Penalty and a Yellow card.

Christ you got a favourable decision never seen so much effort to try and disprove that, top of the league and this is what you care about

Not so.
There have been many posts disputing penalty forcing me to put the record straight.

Now that the league programme is 1/4 completed and winter with heavy grounds are around the corner, its worthwhile checking the Fair Play Table.

Well that's wrong for a start.

Why has Harrogate's red card been included in our total?

Also should rescinded Red cards be showing in that table at all? Jay Spearing’s was, so ought not to count.

Nope. So, in other words, this is a shambles and means nothing if it's not even accurate.

Had no idea FGR Stroud was so precious and also so blinkered as to not be able to accept any bit of criticism of FGR or any FGR’s players antics.

The ref tonight at Crawley was pretty poor. He kept stopping play at every opportunity when it would have been fairer to play the advantage. He only played advantage once in the whole game.

He kept demanding that people wait for free kicks as well just slowing the game down for no reason.

He sent off Nadesan for diving (second yellow) which was good though. It was a blatant dive but I'm glad he got that right at least, some refs would bottle it.

We had Tom Nield from Wakefield last night against Hartlepool. By far and away the best ref we have had this season.

For once we had a ref who didn't fall for players trying to con free kicks. He took a very dim view of any player trying to waste time and didn't stop the game unnecessarily if a player went down 'injured' apart from a couple of instances of a clash of heads, which of course is correct.

There was a couple of occasions when Hartlepool's Luke Molyneaux went down after taking knocks and the player was clearly trying to see out time by staying down on the pitch, however, the ref made sure he went off the pitch to be treated, indicating a stretcher if he was unable to walk off, Molyneaux soon stood up and walked to the touchline

He made sure players being subbed didn't take their time.

All in all a refreshing change and I would welcome him back anytime

Not sure why Hartlepool resorted to time wasting tactics, they were so comfortable and in control all night, there was only going to be one team winning that

We had Will Finnie, difficult to judge him really, felt the penalty he gave was ridiculous but could have given one second half (although looked like Quinn was looking for it) so probably evened out the decisions.

Added on 6 minutes for our game management which was probably fair, didn't give us much later on, including a clear foul on Rodney on half way he let play on but other than that can't recall much controversial, luckily Cov saved the penalty to render that not a factor in the outcome of the tie.

You actually contacted a ref? Bloody hell. That’s commitment tbf. But still.

I wouldn’t have given it based on real time footage but I was happy to take it. Wouldn’t have been happy if it had been given at the other end. We seem to be getting on the right side of decisions at the minute which tends to happen when you’re at the top I guess.

This weekend's offerings. Kauto Star gives a good write-up to Tom Nield and he's usually been ok for Rovers games since he got onto the FL list.

Trevor Kettle being assigned to our game has added a new dimension to Saturday. Suppose we were always going to get him at some point.

Christ. Bourne, Kettle, Yates and Gavin Ward in the same slate? League Two must’ve pissed someone right off.

Aye, should guarantee a lively match thread come 16:45 on Saturday at least.

I think L1 and L2 share the same refs. I do appreciate that refereeing is not an easy job and so I hardly ever comment on refs and linos, not least because I find that in most cases they get slated for nowt. Still, Leigh Doughty was poor in the 2-2 home draw with Ipswich but Simon Mather was on another level of shitness entirely in our 4-1 defeat at Shrews. Anybody here got an opinion on Mr Mather?

Kettle wasn't too bad the other week. But he's still a c***.

Any opinions about Busby?

I wasn’t impressed with Mr Mather’s handling of the NL play-off final, but he did one of our Pizza Cup games and was ok.

Mr Busby is fine in games where both teams try to play football but usually a bit weak at clamping down on the dark arts.

I couldn't possibly comment, but you might want to ask Torquay fans about his handling of the NL playoff final this summer
