I'm really sorry Chesterfield, but that was the ultimate relegation performance tonight.

We are looking very good

Heard the Stevenage manager on our local station.

Seemed to say you only won because the ref got intimidated by your players/bench appealing for everything ..

I did think can a team twice managed by Graham Westley really complain such issues ?!

Then said the 2nd goal was handball and their man won the ball before being sent off..

Basically a lot of sour grapes..

Definitely a red and I didn't see a hand ball.

Westley's silly line ups are costing us now. Really at a loss as to why an NL North winger, a backup GK and backup CB were all signed on deadline day with no other transfer incomings, while JCR was let go - what was the logic behind all that? When you're in the shit you need proven quality.

Even without incomings, I still think we'd be in with a shout of staying up if Westley simply picked the strongest 11 available to him, but he's miles off doing so and sees things in players who barely any of our fans rate.

Still reckon FGR and Barnet will stay up, and I used to think Chesterfield will too but I think I was wrong. In fact, I reckon they'll be one of the two sides to go down, with the other side one of Crewe or Grimsby, though it depends on who'll be the next Grimsby manager. If they go for someone like Derry, then I have no doubt at all that they'll pick up enough draws and the occasional win to stay up. Yeovil, Morecambe and Vale are in it too, but I don't see either one of those going down. Vale are quite simply not that bad, Yeovil do score enough goals to keep them out of trouble, while Morecambe have been here before and so far they've always managed to stay up so they know what they've got to do.

In short, and I'm sorry to fans of these two clubs,I'm going with Chesterfield and Crewe.

We're 11 points clear now and with our GD it's pretty much as good as an extra point. I think we'll be easily ok.

Ryan Watson has had a spell over several of our managers while seldom showing any reason why he ought to be picked at all.

Can only assume he trains really well, backed up by the number of top flight clubs he's spent time with. I have seen flashes of technical quality from him but he just struggles under any form of pressure.

I cannot work out what Westley sees in him that he doesn't see in Jack Taylor, who is more technically gifted, puts in far more competent performances at L2 level and is no less taller/physical (which seems to be Westley's main criteria).

Yeovil seem to have kicked on well after a dodgy November/December(?).

We played them four times, once in September, twice in December and once in January.

They were absolutely dreadful on all three occasions prior to Xmas, in January they looked a completely different side, seem to have recruited well in early Jan.

The first FA Cup game at your place was the worst match i've seen in years, probably ever.

We weren't much better in the league game last month but overall yes our January signings have made a real difference.

We're 5 points clear at the moment, with a game in hand on some teams. Morecambe on Saturday is massive. Win our next three and i think we'll be safe.

Recent away form still poor though, albeit with postponement not been too many with new look side. Turn those losses into draws and the odd win and we really will be able to relax.

Its high, cant tell where his foot was at the point the ball was at the player, or if two footed as his standing one has gone under him mind so not really conclusive other than the follow through is dangerous.

Doesn't look a red from the highlights. When Revell goes in the for the challenge, he wins the ball and hasn't lunged, two footed or anything.

Definitely a red and I didn't see a hand ball.

TBH I think the guy interviewing didn't really agree with him - just stayed silent whilst the manager was ranting.

Their summarizer said on the radio when I was coming home from our game that he thought the red was fair. So yeah he definitely didnt agree with Sarll there. In general I dont think their match summarizer likes him that much, Sarll often seems to go after him on mundane questions.

Apparently he has always been a bit of a knob from some things i have heard from people who knew/knew of him from his time in local football in the area.

He seems to be your typical lower league neanderthal type to me, its been interesting to hear his interviews get more and more deranged as the seasons gone on.

Looks like we are down ladies and gents. Wow, never thought it would come to this but the club is being driven into the abyss (literally) by those in charge. Really is going to turn nasty from now on in I fear.

Not your team but if you do go down probably the best ever stadium to grace Non league. The secret is is to rebuild and get back in one season.

This is what I said in the February games thread -

Chesterfield A - Surely they've sorted out their back line since we beat 'em at our place?

Watched last nights match and I'm sorry to say you lot still haven't sorted this out. I know my lot's back line isn't that great either atm but yours looked so very fragile and I don't think it's got anything to do with morale but more with the lack of quality across your back four.

Such a shame as you look good going forward but your defence wouldn't look out of place in the Conference if I'm being completely honest. I had thought your manager would have recognised this problem by this time but it doesn't seem so.

I wouldn't write yourselves off just yet. We're without a win in 6 and have 3 top half teams coming up in the next few weeks. The Vale haven't won in 2018 and got hammered by Cheltenham of all teams. Grimsby are sinking like a stone and changing the manager might not do much for them. Morecambe have struggled all season and are right in amongst it. Any of Cheltenham, Stevenage and Yeovil could also be in the mix, although all 3's home form should keep them out of danger. But you never know.

Plenty of teams still in deep trouble. All you need is a shock win or two and suddenly you are out of the bottom 2.

Agreed JJ, and shock wins aren't that uncommon down here. Who would've thought Chesterfield were going to beat Luton 2 -0 for example? It's far too close at this moment and even taking a point in a bore draw will make a difference as it stands. Even Barnet who look doomed can stay up if they can get a couple of wins. I know their fans(and Crewe's and Chesterield's) will say 'but where are the wins coming from?', but that's what we all thought about Newport and Pools such was their form going into the final 6-8 games of the season and yet they did manage it.

There's no side down there that looks dead and buried.

I appreciate it's easier to say it from afar but look at Yeovil, look at forest green. String 2/3 wins together and you're out of it for a while - port vale also did the same before being sucked back in.

No side is as bad as Orient last season, Dagenham and york the other season were totally hopeless and ended up on 34 points (I think) each. I'd be surprised if the relegation slots were decided before the last game (or 2nd last) of the season.
