We're in the relegation battle, and have scored the same amount of goals as title chasing Tranmere, wow.

Looking at the run ins of all the teams in the relegation fight in terms of how easy the game is (1 = nothing to play for, 2 = fellow struggler, 3 = promotion chaser), the average strength of opponents is:

Sutton = 2 1/6
Guiseley = 2 2/5
Bromley = 2
Solihull = 1 4/5
Maidstone = 2 1/7
Braintree = 2 3/5
Woking = 2
Torquay = 2 3/5
York = 1 5/6
NFU = 2
Southport = 2 3/6

There are just no easy games. There is the occasional anomaly whereby one team enjoys everything going their way and the opposition have a nightmare but those are rare - York at home for us which even included a half our break for a floodlight failure!

The worst thing was that it wasn't even our first 6-1 away defeat of the season. We were just as woeful at Gateshead despite going in at 1-1 at half time. Those were the two league awayers I've managed this season...

When Guiseley gave York that pasting, everyone was shocked cos they thought Guiseley were the whipping boys after their horrendous start. Turns out they're one of the better sides in the league, only 5 points off the top 10 now. Lockwood has done brilliantly, nice to see one of our ex players doing so well in management.

Locky and Dave have been fantastic to be fair. We are rarely convincing in games but have got results. Mostly based on a solid team defensive effort linked to taking the odd chance that we manage to create.
You will have too much for us on Saturday I think so not expecting any points from this one. Best scenario would be clinging on for a point.

Meanwhile, I'm just sitting here smug as ChrisFGR in pre-season, knowing that I predicted Guiseley to stay up way back when they were bottom and cut adrift. Feels good to be a pompous git, I can see why so many are.

Just like earlier in the season, it looks like we're suffering a hangover from having the stuffing knocked out of us by Lincoln. We went 5 games without a win earlier in the season after they beat us, and have followed up the second beating by losing to North Ferriby.

Unless we improve massively, think a point would be an alright result for us as well.

Nothing more to add to the above really - Guiseley are a good side. Gave us two great battles over the Xmas period. I think they'll be top half next season if they keep the majority of their squad/management.

Unbelievably we are in 10th ( for now anyway!) whilst having the second worst goals for record in the division. We have scored 39 times this season. Only North Ferriby have netted fewer times than us.

It's quite unbelievable that we haven't scored many really, given we started the season with the twin talents of Callum Powell and Michael Bakare up front. I had them down as getting 40 each easily.

They still wouldn't have topped the scoring charts though as Forest Green's forwards will be getting 50-60 each according to ChrisFGR.

Matt Tubbs will rip up this league again. He's got too much quality.

Any day now....

I said Tubbs and Murphy would get around 30 each. There are still 6 games to go.

So York look like they might be able to drag themselves out of it. Solihull losing their big goal difference advantage and in really poor form. Ferriby and Southport down but still lots of teams in the relegation scrap.

Got to applaud Maidstone for what they've done. I looked at half time and they were a place above the drop zone and I think only a single point clear. Great second half turnaround, but they also have Dover to thank for getting back at Braintree too. Still think the run in looks quite nasty for the Stones but they seem pretty unbeatable right now!

With you folks teetering in League One right now, perhaps we'll see you in a couple of years after all ;)

Obviously Southport and NFU are now gone, but fair play to NFU for digging in for this long. I genuinely thought they'd down a lot sooner off the back of a horrible pre-season in terms of losing the management team and their key players from their promotion season.

Mills finally realising, for the second season in a row, that nice tippy tappy football doesn't necessarily get you anywhere. He got Wrexham picking up results in the second half of last season going a bit more direct and it's done the trick for him at York this season. They seem to have been in PO type form for a few weeks now.
