Walsall FC can today confirm our retained list following the conclusion of the 2018/19 season.

Out-of-contract players Liam Kinsella and Nicky Devlin have been offered new two-year contracts, while we have exercised our option to extend the contract of Callum Cockerill-Mollett by a further year. As publicised earlier in the year, we have also extended Kory Roberts’ deal as he continues his rehabilitation from a long-term injury.

Joe Edwards, Kieron Morris, Luke Leahy, Jon Guthrie, Zeli Ismail, Chris Dunn, Jordon Sangha, Tobias Hayles-Docherty, Isaiah Osbourne, Cameron Peters and Omar Mussa have all been given free transfers and will leave the club when their contracts expire in June. We would like to thank all outgoing players for their efforts during their time with the Saddlers and wish them well for the future.

Long-serving club captain Adam Chambers remains in discussions with the club about his future both on and off the field.

Joe Slinn, Dan Vann and Dylan Parker have been invited back for pre-season training, while Maz Kouhyar, who ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in April, will continue his rehabilitation with the club throughout the summer.

Second-year apprentices Tom Leak and Luke Little have been offered short-term professional deals.
Wow Adam Chambers is STILL going! Whats he like these days, big coup for you to get him off us back in 2011. Had him for 5 years and he could've played higher a few times, think he failed a medical at Peterborough and possibly Leeds before he chose to leave us for you.

He must be 38/39 now!

He has been fantastic for us past few seasons but he broke his ankle first game of the season and that so happens to coincide with us being relegated for the first time in 13 years and we missed him badly.

He was injury prone first season for us after he left you but since then he got super into fitness and became injury free and unbelievably fit, especially for his age, he'd always do 90+ mins Saturday Tuesday Saturday Tuesday etc. no problem. Our record for the past 3 or 4 seasons without him was really bad too, he had a huge impact on the team.

He seemed to get better with age and peaked with his performances in our play off season in 2015, but since then he has still been dependable and solid. Captain for 4 years now too, every season I think it will be he is last but he always rocks up next pre season fit as a fiddle. I would have thought an ankle break and the whole season out would be the end of his career but with Adam I'm guessing he will prove us all wrong again and go on to play 50 games for the next 3 seasons.

Yeah I expect so too. Probably best for him and us that he left so he can start afresh and we can get someone with some kind of consistency in. I've always liked him and have seen something really fantastic in him but he tends to show it in fits and starts and then go quiet for multiple games at a time.

Would you expect Joe Edwards to stay in L1? Always thought he’d be a great signing, plus he’s no stranger to the South West but perhaps he’s out of our range?

A league 1 club may take a punt on him but he's bang average in that division, especially after his ACL injury which came right when he started to get into the form of his career. I think he will stay in league 1 as a squad player for someone because it seems he doesn't want to play in L2, but he would suit playing there much more. He could go to you I guess. He's a bit of a nothing player though, too slow for full back, not creative enough for CM, not fast enough for a winger. He's just okay in all of those positions (was best for us as a LM) and will put 100% effort in and run for days.

They could be the next Nathan Jones, a success in the lower leagues but just an irritating tit higher up.
There could be something in this as West Brom seem to alternate between suicidal football
purist (Mowbray, Moore etc) and long ball whackers(Tony Pulis) and it is the long ball merchants turn.

Apologies if this has been touched on ( can't be arsed read back ) .

But Morris from Scunny , wasn't he the one pinging them in from all sorts of distances not long ago.

Was he a one season wonder or released due to wages ?

Yet sadly there are big rumours Lloyd is coming back to us.

Both underwhelming and incredible

Yep, just about. However he may well have been carrying a slight injury towards the end of the season because his form dipped a bit in the final few games. Having him and Jules already under contract gives us a solid base to build from.

I'm not convinced by Jules to be honest, gave the ball away in some very silly areas in last 20 mins Vs Cambridge when all he needed to do was get rid.

He was incredible three seasons ago, scoring 20 as we finished 3rd. He then regressed slightly but still played well as we finished 5th. Was then out injured for most of last season as we went down. He chose to leave as he's way too good for League 2 so we have no complaints.

Our retained list will be out next week after we finally finished our season today with the FA Trophy Final.

Charlie Lee and Charlie Grainger are the only two who've so far announced they've left.

Will the goalkeeping hero that is Matt Harrold still be with you?

I doubt it as he'll be 35 next year, he's put in some very good cameo performances from the bench for us this season though and got 6 goals. We've been linked with 2 younger targetmen in Paul McCallum and Connor Wilkinson in recent weeks.

Genuinely shocked that Harrold has been offered another year. Disappointed that the full-back positions seemingly aren’t getting an upgrade. Dayton is a waste of a wage as well. On this evidence we’re in for a long old season IMHO.

Dayts was class for us but just could not keep fit.

Always felt he had the talent to be playing higher, but as you say, he plays so few games he's practically a waste of a wage.

Precisely. Highly influential until November for us, then injured until March. Came back, got injured again and will miss the start of next season. He doesn’t fit into our new system either. We’ve been far too sentimental with our retained list, which bodes poorly.

David Worrall has triggered his extension which is superb news. Excellent for us once Askey got him back in... no idea what happened during Aspins last few months with him and why he was pushed out. Could say our upturn was down to his performance levels. Turned down another club to stay.

Get Manny done and possibly Legge and il be happy enough with that to build on with new signings.

I guess it is consigned to history now but there was definitely something going on. Aspin came out with some crap he had whiplash i think.
A shit David Worrall was easily worth a place in the 16, an average DW would walk in the side.
Some shit went on between him and Aspin that is clear otherwise if his beef was with Vale why would he stay.

Great news he is staying.
