Akinde takes *a lot* of persuading to move from the south. Took us ages to convince him, although to be fair to him, his worries were centred around his wife and being able to pick a job up for her as a pharmacist.

Rumoured £3k-£3.5k a week when he was here, which is why we've chuckled this season when Evans has spoken about budgets and pleading poverty after signing him from us for a fee!
Well we’re still in the south I guess! But this is something we’ve struggled with over the years as it’s long old way for someone to up root their family and come to Devon. I suspect he’ll have plenty of interest closer to where he’s based, so may be a non starter.

Evans is a tit isn’t he. Looking at his squad he’s been well backed!

Where do you reckon Mullin will end up? Seen some talk of Vale being in for him, but surely he’ll be L1 minimum...
I think we all expect he'll have a number of offers from league 1 and 2 clubs this year but I haven't heard any serious rumours.

I'd be surprised if he turned up at Vale though - he's been very clear that he wants to live closer to Liverpool but I'd imagine he'll only pick a league 2 team if they throw a ton of cash at him (Salford).

Evans is a tit yes.

I’m still struggling to work out how it came to be we that we paid cash monies for Akinde. 3 year contract too, which is practically unheard of round here.

Surely he will get picked up by a team in the championship? Is there a reason he is leaving Pompey other than to potentially move up a division?

Yes Cowley deems them not fit for purpose.

Cannon's not bad. He's a busy attacking midfielder. End product is not always there but he works hard. I think the Cowleys released him because he doesn't really offer anything different to what we already have.

The MacGillivray situation is a bit stranger. We offered him a contract but it doesn't look like we tried too hard. I'm guessing the Cowleys are maybe looking for a better distributor and someone who dominates the box more? Will be a good signing for somebody though.

There are a few upset fans over some of the players released. However, I think most are happy to let the Cowleys get on with rebuilding a squad that has basically failed.

See we’re being linked with Aneke by local journo Dom Howson. He’s the only one that seems to be reporting it so I’m not sure if there’s much substance behind it. Any good?

He's a funny one Aneke.

There aren't many better subs in L1. Comes on for 30 mins and has a field day against tiring defences.

However. serious question marks over his fitness. He only completed 90 mins twice and think it's only 9 games he started.

Adkins recently said that his issues aren't visible and are confidential so there's obviously something not right.

He's a great asset off the bench but I'm not bothered if he leaves if it means replacing him with someone who can be a threat for 90 minutes rather than just 30.

We (Crewe) were interested in him when he was at Tranmere.

Offered a new deal:

Osaze Urhoghide

Personally, no surprises on there for me. Loads of wages freed up. Can’t see Urhoghide staying, he apparently has interest from Leeds, Palace, Brugge and Sporting Lisbon

Thank you mate. I’m quite looking forward to the season ahead.

We still have a decent spine to build the squad around with the likes of Iorfa, Dunkley, Bannan, Luongo, Windass and Paterson.

I really like Moore as a manager and he knows the league well but I’m not naive enough to think it will all be plain sailing.

Welcome.

Do you think you'll be able to keep Windass?

Also, have the wages from March and April that the Sky commentators were making a big deal about been paid?

I’m hoping so, he was excellent towards the back end of the season and definitely has the ability to play in the Championship but there are question marks about his attitude. I’d still expect plenty of interest in him.

Not totally sure on the wages situation, there hasn’t been much mentioned by the local journos since it came out about the non-payments. It’s not the first time it’s happened and unfortunately I don’t think it will be the last.

A lot of our fan base want the chairman out. I genuinely believe he has the clubs best interests at heart but prior to buying us he had no interest or experience in football and appears to have been badly advised.

Before I get slated for sour grapes in respect Moore, it certainly isn’t. He doesn’t have a plan B, totally stubborn I’m not changing tactics even when things are clearly not working, strange substitutions too. He also has a tendency not to show up for meetings that he arranged with players, turns up late for training and tends to sign players who are linked to Daniel Sturridges agency and if not tries to get them to sign on. This is all based on his time both here and at WBA.

There won’t be any slating from me pal. You’ll know more about him than I do. All I can judge him on is his time here and he’s made all the right noises so far. Obviously he didn’t keep us up but that was always going to be a struggle, particularly with him missing a few weeks due to Covid and the complications he had with it.

He’s very good at saying the right thing to start with then his interviews are torture, looking forward to welcoming him back next season

No disrespect but if he is going to leave a team that is built around him I’m hoping it’s a bigger club than Crewe.

Our no.1 Dimi Mitov, Greg Taylor and Harrison Dunk have all signed new deals this week.

Oh I'm sure we wouldn't sign him, just saying we wanted him in the past.

Personally not interested anyway. Apart from last season, he has a poor goalscoring record.

Ours:

Released:

Rob Hall
Dylan Asonganyi
Nico Jones
Fabio Lopes
Jack Stevens (outfield player not our keeper)
Fabio Sole

Contracts offered:

Anthony Forde*
Josh Ruffels*
John Mousinho
Leon Chambers-Parillon
Tyler Goodrham
Kyran Lofthouse

Contract options taken up:

Slavi Spasov
Michael Elechi

All loanees have returned obviously. We may see if we can get Shodipo and Barker (most likely out of the 2 but don't know how likely) back but don't expect to see Liam Kelly in an Oxford shirt again.

*Don't expect either to sign. Rumours that Championship sides interested in Josh Ruffels. I'll wish both well if they go.

On the squad size, on our forum it has been mentioned of a squad size of 22 senior outfield players. Keepers excluded from counting to the 22 as u21s as well.

I really like him to be honest. He’s a 7/10 every week and has a great engine. He’s only 25 and this was in reality only his second full season of first team football having played 30 or so games for Carlisle the season before. He’s had the odd loan before that. I think he’ll get better and better under Evatt. Made that right back spot his own in a back 4 and started every game I think in that run where we won 17 in 23. During the early parts of the season he was playing left wing back to cover injuries and didn’t look completely comfortable but he starts at right back for me in league 1 week in, week out and could be a real asset if he continues to improve.
