If we permanently sign another midfielder of pedigree similar to Chris Atkinson we really are up shit creek without a paddle. This club tried to go all out to sign James Bailey (admittedly didn't pull up many trees at Barnsley) last season and we got Chris Atkinson, so no wonder there are a sizable element of supporters who are currently apathetic towards the club and are sceptical of what the management have to say.

Personally I think Shearer will stay, I think Tate will end up being the experienced CB because we'll probably lose out on the one we're interested in, Leigh should sign, Tootle will sign, Coco 50:50, Turton and Guthrie to sign although I'd have released Turton/Tootle and Guthrie to free up wage space. It's just the midfielder, I reckon they'll hype it up and deliver us another dud like Atkinson which we can ill-afford to have now Grant is seemingly on his way out.

Bang out of order and disrespectful of Davis and Baker to point the finger at Grant when the others accompanying him in that midfield have been nothing short of a lacklustre, spineless and effort deprived waste of space for the past two years. At one time it was only him and Tootle I held in any regard out of our outfield players because far too many were happy to turn up, not get stuck in and pick up a wage.

Same re-hashed quotes from management, same blind optimism from fans. Could almost be 2014. Or 2013. Sorry, bored of it now. Apathy doesn't come into it. It's disbelief we're doing it all over again and we're all playing along. If, maybe, hopefully, a lot to prove, yeah yeah yeah, heard it all last summer about a different set of players. Even JJ trying to put a positive spin on it, it's still depressing reading.

Turton, the poor lad, epitomises this club right now. Cheap Value for money but "he's done alright, lay off him". Reality won't kick in for some until he's struggling to find another league club when his time here is up.

The club is sleepwalking to the non-leagues in its current guise. Absolutely spot on with this post in its entirety.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake released by us, I honestly think he could turn out to be a really good signing for someone if given a run, he was unlucky here with the form of Beckford and Garner.

The other 5 released players have already been snapped up; King, Wiseman, Holmes, Keane and Buchanan.

Nasser El Khayati is about to sign a 2 year extension to his contract, I hadn't realised he had an option on his contract that the club has already extended for next season. The flying Dutchman is a real crowd favourite at the Albion and the fans will be delighted. Tricky and skilful he can create and score goals and is the type of player that is different and hard to pigeon hole position wise.

Just out of interest, where did Holmes go?

Retained/Release list announced:
SWINDON Town have released their retained list this morning and Wes Foderingham and Andy Williams are among the big names to be released by the club. As expected, Town’s number one was among the list of 10 players to be let go, along with Cam Belford who signed for Wrexham last week.

Harry Agombar, Josue Antonio, George Barker, Jack Barthram, Matt Jones, Darren Ward and Connor Waldon were the other names on the list.

Anton Rodgers, who is also out of contract this summer, was not on the list, suggesting he could be getting a new deal with the club.

No offence really but why would you offer Locky a new contract he was past it when he was with us!

He was offered a player/coach deal and wasn't really going to feature much. He was actually excellent for us in the season he signed and we went on to go 13 unbeaten with him in the side. Think he may just of had a torrid time at Bury because he was nowhere near as bad as you lot made out.

Fair enough he was a likeable guy just didn't seem to have the legs for it anymore although knowing us we probably had somebody just as old partnering (wish I could remember who it was) him which didn't help out

He was quality in the first half of our promotion season when him and JMW tore apart teams then went off the boil and barely featured and got released at the end of the season. A massive confidence player perhaps but a shame to see that he's struggled elsewhere since leaving us.

We didn't release Vincent he turned down a new contract with us (despite getting promoted), got the impression he thought he was going places, when all he did was end up in Cheltenham's reserves.

Mark Yeates has been released.

Decent L1 player if someone figures out how to utilise him and his strengths.

81 apps - 7 goals.

Mark Yeates was too inconsistent for the big wage he was on.

Has Steven Davies been taken by any club yet?

I'd have him in the Championship, he was very good for us. Will be a quality addition if a L1 side get him, but I'm presuming Sheffield United will be favorites seeing as he was on loan there last season?

What's the deal with Swindon and Foderingham? Thought he was meant to be awesome? Also, Andy Williams too? Look a bit weird on the outside looking in, however I know barely anything about it

Wes deserves a shot in the Championship and Williams is a major confidence player who is unrecognisable from one month to the next.

Wish both well though.

Mellon is after a left winger and he could certainly lot do worse that Yeates.

Thing is, he's not really a winger. He certainly doesn't have pace. But for the lack of pace, he makes up in technically ability. He's a NO 10/behind the striker/tip of the diamon sorta player.

He was our best play maker last season behind Jon Stead, going by the assist table.

Dodds the first of the first team to sign, pleased as he did fairly well last season and is a useful player to have in the squad.

Okay, I remembered him as a left winger back in his Colchester days.

When we released Yeates Parky pretty much said he was asking for too much money for what he is. He's not a winger, he's not a striker, he doesn't work enough to play midfield, he has no role really. Might swing a few assists in and score a couple of top corner strikes every year but that's about it. He is the definition of a luxury player. He will probably end up going to someone with loads of money who won't take a financial hit by him only having one good game every few months. If Shrewsbury spunk loads of their budget on him it'd be a poor signing IMO.
