It’s always quite a laugh when both you and your rivals are away the same day in the same part of the country. Only 2 weeks ago we were at Salford and the piss stains were at Bolton.

Why do you consider Oxford as a rival ? Is it purely geographical?
If it is - for me, it does not have the intensity of two teams from the same city. Sharing the same bus to work, drinking in the same pubs, reading the same local rag, and generally been on top of each other. And for that the Bristol derby and Sheffield derby are surely the biggest outside the Prem.
Just my opinion like.

There are a few inter city/town rivalries that are extremely toxic.

Ours is one of them.

Whatever mate. I wonder if any lurking Liverpool fans will confirm that they hate Everton more than United...
Things that happen in a city/town with 2 teams. The opposition fans waiting for you at the train station after you have been away ( happened a lot at Temple meads over the years ) . The skittle matches in Gloucester road ( involving lobbing beer glasses at the opposition supporters
cars as they drive home from AG ) . Constant fights in the City centre. The regular pub attacks ( both ends of Bristol ) I could go on.

Yep nothing quite a like it. People who don’t support a team from a 2 team city will never understand just how constant it is. It’s the going to work on a Monday facing up to them etc which is why Crewe just don’t cut it for me no matter how close geographically they may be.

From a Vale perspective as petty and small minded as others will find it I need Stoke to fail almost as much as us be successful as everywhere you go there is no respite if they beat you in the derby or they win a promotion or something. Patrick Van Aanholt will never need to buy a beer if he ever was out in Burslem after he relegated them or Yaya Toure when he scored in the cup final against them.

The vegan thing? I did hear some lame bantz at our game a few weeks ago. Mostly from fat gammons who could do with a change in diet.
Casual racism is fine on this forum as long as it refers to white men. So much for the kneeling and constant kick it out messages. Clearly isn't working.

Having no rival makes your life easier. Less to get worked up about.
We have no rivals. We tried with derby in the championship but they don’t give a fuck about us.
I quite like it. Must be horrible to be in a city with 2 teams the day after you lose, or on the way home. Can’t be pleasant.
That's it, there's no getting away from them in the same City.
It might be different for the bigger Prem clubs with many tens of thousands of fans as they spill over into neighbouring towns and cities, but I imagine lower down the leagues there is less chance of meeting rival fans.
I rarely wear my Rovers shirt about in town but if I did I can guarantee some random will shout some abuse in my direction.

Still have not explained why.
to everyone else it’s just one city and one town plenty of miles apart that seem to like winding the other one up. Seems nothing toxic to me. Sunderland / Newcastle I have experienced and that is toxic. So is derby versus forest.

Mansfield vs Chesterfield is pretty toxic, and has been since the 1980's

Do fat c*** with hypertension induced rosacea and backwards views constitute their own race?

Strangely enough Barnet tried to get some sort of rivalry going with ourselves while we dipped our toe into the conference.
They really dont like us, we couldnt give 2 shits about them though.

The City versus Gas rivalry is something special. In 2004 City were beaten in the League One play off final by Brighton in Cardiff, the new Wembley was under construction at the time so for a number of years all finals went to the Millenium Stadium.

By the time the fans had gone over the Severn Crossing on their way home someone, presumably Gas fans, had hung a large banner from one of the motorway bridges with the message "Congratulations Brighton, better luck next year City"...now I am guessing that they had this ready to go but the speed with which it was hung up must have taken some effort.

There was a bit of Tinpot bad blood with Ebbsfleet for us. They shithoused their way, as they often did, to a 1-0 win at VP and their antics were terrible. One of their players was winding up the crowd something chronic while time-wasting his way to his death bed then he alleged he was racially abused. I was right next to it and nothing of the sort happened. Or at least I didn't hear anything. The crowd in that section were adamant that nowt happened. Then they got relegated on PPG and well, there were a few cheeky wry smiles when that happened.

Has Barrow/Tranmere, or more specifically, chipmunx/Tranmere been mentioned yet?

Totally agree. Possibly the derby with the most hatred in England is the "Sheffield " one.

When I lived in Edinburgh I used to follow Hearts as the majority of my mates I played 5 a sides with were Hearts fans. I used to love the Edinburgh Derby vs Hibs. Superb atmosphere and every game was played with huge vigour. A win over them at Easter Road was always incredible.

I've been to a couple of Sheffield derbies when I was younger also which were fantastic spectacles.
