Noel Sharkey's back? Yes! Quite like Dara (and welcome the return of JP on commentary) but can't pretend I'm not a little bit disappointed by the absence of Craig Charles :(

Can't see past MR Speed Squared looking at that lot. Looks like a truly devastating 'bot on paper.

I am reborn after that episode. Thrills, laughs, twists, turns, Hemel Hempstead, CARNAGE.

Nuts was wonderful. This spare parts, hand painted, gyroscopic and impotent machine getting absolutely torn apart by an ultra-sophisticated CAD robot with a savage weapon, but still taking it all the way in the next game. Pure survivability.

Started shit, picked up in the middle and ended with a damp squib. Probably too many bouts. Both Robots were fucked by the end.

I thought the camera angles spoiled it at times, watching from behind the roboteer's heads or Housebot cam wasn't great. But I'm glad it's back, shame it's only for 6 episodes this series.

Loved this when I was a kid. From memory Dead Metal was the boy and Sir Killalot was a bullying prick. Will catch it on iplayer, worried the adult me won't enjoy it as much though.

Yeah, enjoyed that. Was rather unimpressed with team Razer attempting to sabotage my nostalgia trip by driving their robot into a fucking pit within the first few minutes but overall GOOD REBOOT. Apart from that first head to head where it went a bit MIA Carbide was pretty darn impressive.

Only just caught up, but I thought it was great. I'm looking forward to seeing Carbide again, that was a devastating weapon.

And, to top it off, Professor Noel Sharkey liked my tweet about it. :cool1:

I got into Robot Wars very late when it was on previously as I didn't think I'd like it until I watched it. I saw the new one on repeat last night and I was smiling all the way through it like a kid in a sweet shop! The only thing to spoil it is having that waste of space Dara Brian trying to sound funny which he never is, but I ignored and muted any bit he was on and I loved the rest.

Are a lot of the older contestents back from the old Robot Wars as well? I thought I recognised one or two of them.

Yeah. Of that first episode Razer, Behemoth and Terrorhurtz were all returnees so probably a safe bet to assume there will be more...

Razer and Behemoth from Sunday's episode were definitely in the old series, I'm sure their crew were the same people too. And I expect to see more old favourites in future episodes.

Chaos 2 or Hypnodisc(!!!) please. I reckon Razer (hot daughter by the way) would have been beaten by Carbide if it didn't reverse into the pit in the first round. The only robot that could deal with it, was the the robot (Terrorhurtz) optimised specifically to combat its bar spinner. Jonathan Pearce was in hysterics when Nuts released its clusterbots and Behemoth started flipping them in the air, I got a kick out of how much he was enjoying himself throughout that episode.

Successful reboot for sure. I love Dara, but it has lost a bit of excitement without Craig Charles.

Glad Foxic got smashed, the bloke who built and drove the robot was an arrogant prick.

Mr Speed Squared looked brilliant in the first heat, problem with a robot like that is its so easy for the spinner to go with one big connection, and then you have nothing.

No way did Shockwave deserve to go through last night.

Thor was immense throughout, and smashed Shockwave up in the heat.

Bollocks result.

Really hope we see Hypnodisc

Yeah, all of these posts are ON THE MONEY. The result came as a real disappointment as Thor dominated the contest. Shockwave is a powerful bot but makes for quite an underwhelming finalist. It's basically just a RUBBISH SCOOP

Foxic was COMICALLY BAD

I'm hoping for the next series they reformat it a bit so we can have maybe 2 going through to a semi final. It'd just be nicer to see more of the robots than just the two episode maximum.

Fuck Robot Wars. It's Scrapheap Challenge I want to return. Preferably with Robert Llewellyn and the tasty Lisa Rogers rather than the Dick Strawbridge shite before they got rid of it. Loved that show.

TR2 was pretty good, but I was hoping for Big Nipper to go through. Sir Killalot was having the time of his life this episode.

Enjoyed the flipper-off and Sir Killalot IMPALING HIMSELF on the wall like some stupid robot CLOWN. The house robots did seem to be having fun tonight which is good. Also, as much as TR2 was pretty impressive that was singularly the most FEEBLE "axe" I've seen on this show.

TR2 the deserved winner IMO.

Decent final as well and thought Dantomkia and TR2 deserved to be there.

But yeah, the Bum Axe was shite.

Big Nipper was a disappointment for me, expected more from the spinning disc.

Glad TR2 won, the guy who was in charge of Dantomkia was a bit of a prick, and they couldn't even be arsed to build their own robot, just brought or were given someone else's.

Wow!!

Fucking great episode that.

Apollo easily the most entertaining robot of the series so far, and my current personal favourite.

3 House Robots put to the sword as well. Rate impressed.

Yeah Apollo was great. I was impressed with PP3D as well. Those spinner-bots are great, but they can become fairly self-destructive when they're given a little bit of a bash.
