You would rather have a bloke kill the club than to potentially have new owners that could run us and have us competing like a proper football club again just to piss me off

To think, you regime apologists accused protestors of wanting the club to fail.

Good luck getting rid of that Belgian bell end, but if you could just carry on being shit on the pitch for a few more days it would be much appreciated

Cheers

Always thought your ground was bigger than that, or is it quite an old photo?

A very old photo. The East stand hasn't even been constructed in that one. There's now a second tier on both the West and North stands and the corners filled in at that end. The away end is still pretty much the same. Will look considerably different to that picture if you do venture up on Monday.

After reading the article again, having time to speak to other fans and think about it rationally - I feel a bit better about it.

Firstly, it may not even end up being the Aussies who buy the club. It's just talks, the positive is that despite claims from numerous spokespeople - the club is for sale.

They may want to make it a 'breeding ground for Australian talent' but this sounds more like us getting young Australian talent rather than the other way round. I think there are rules on the amount of non EU players you can have so doubt we will be inundated with tonnes of Aussies.

There is no 'network' so players won't be shuffled around. We would be the only club they own so therefore the only priority.

With people like Mark Schwarzer being involved at least it is people with football knowledge and importantly knowledge of English football.

The only thing concerning me now is the rumours that he is only selling the club and training ground, keeping hold of The Valley whilst we then lease it. This seriously can't happen. I dread to think what he would end up doing to it or who he would eventually end up selling it to.

There we have it. A leaked document that proves the club have had The Valley assessed for redevelopment as residential accommodation last year.

I'm sure Lamby will try and defend this but this club is slowly being dismantled and destroyed by Roland Duchâtelet and this is further proof that he is here purely to make money, no interest in the football or the football club.
Realistically, who can Charlton ground-share with when Duchatelet gives the green-light to bulldoze The Valley?

Leyton Orient, Dartford, Dag & Red?

If Roland remains chairman we wouldn't need a ground as big as Dartford's. No doubt a Phoenix club will be formed anyway.

Gillingham

I very much doubt they would welcome us unless Scally sees an opportunity to exploit us.

Could always share at our place.... Honestly I'm half surprised a fan-owned Charlton FC haven't been formed yet.

At least we might win a game or two there then.

Yeah, I'm surprised the idea hasn't even been touted yet but at the moment every Charlton fan seems to think this is a battle we will win, we were on the brink in the late 80s and the will of the fans pulled us back so that's the mentality. Problem is, having money issues and campaigning etc is far different from having some nutjob owner who puts the interest of the club last in his order of priorities and refuses to sell and when the EFL do nothing about it. You're pretty helpless and left to the mercy of this fool.

Whoaaaaah, hold on a minute. We've been here before.

Back in '85, then owner Michael Gliksten wanted to redevelop the Valley after we were force-moved to Croydon. He didn't get away with it at that time because Greenwich Borough Council had previously instituted a by-law which designates the Valley site as being land which can only be used for sporting purposes - in perpetuity.

Gliksten attempted to get this changed but the political mechanics of repealing the by-law are such that it's tantamount to impossible. Gliksten was constantly thwarted in all his attempts and the Valley stood derelict while we had to play home matches at The Supermarket and later at Upton Park.

Shuffle forward seven years and if you remember, the Valley Party was formed by fans to contest the local elections in order to force Greenwich Council to give planning permission for the Valley to be rebuilt as a football stadium when Gliksten finally gave up the ghost.

If Duchatelet is considering asset-stripping the Valley he should have his guns spiked by the By-Law which I believe is still in force. I haven't heard anything about the By-Law being repealed in the intervening time.

Remember posters like this all over Greenwich...?

The council needs to be advised. When Roland goes back to Belgium, only the voters will be left behind in Greenwich.
