I just find it mad that clubs sack managers and have no quick alternative of who the successor will be. Focusing on Slade's departure, we could all see this coming for what at least a month if not more. Surely they could have informally drawn up a potential and realistic successors list. Looking at us, I would be really disappointed if we don't have 2 or 3 names of managers who we'd be interested in and vice versa should the Cowley's leave.

"We" doesn't include Messrs Fenty et al though. And succession planning! Feck me you are attributing the GTFC Board with an unrealistic level of competence there...

Slade was a good manager, but he's lost whatever former talent and skills he had in the past and now turns whatever he touches to a pile of rubbish. Now if he could go to Leicester and/or Aston Villa and relegate them two or three divisions then I'd say he's done a good job.

Disagree. Slade is a top manager, I would happily have him back over Robins. Knows the league inside out. Robins has achieved nothing in his career while super Russ has 3 promotions and 2 manager of the year awards.

Russell Slade has never won a promotion.

Then you are an idiot.

How is it not? If you finish in the play offs that means you are one of 4 teams who have been consistently good over the season. It’s a promotion from normal league games to a play off knock out.

So if Cov were to end up losing in the play off final this year you'd class that as a promotion? Despite not being promoted?

Yes fella, I would class the play offs as a promotion from the normal league fixtures.

Please don't pillory Cllr Fenty on this board. I'm looking forward to see the famous turtle neck/brown leather jacket at the Bank in a few weeks.

For a non chairman he doesn't half do a lot of statements and press interviews.

Just out of interest has there been any updates on the new ground and do you know who will be owning the land/stadium yet?

Think Grimsby should probably go for a less deluded sort of fella then Sol, Chris Eubank Snr maybe?

Hey we're currently the 3rd best team in Lincolnshire, I reckon he'd be up for it.

Sol cambell has more to worry about than getting a managers job if the rumours are true

While leading us to relegation last season into this division and trying to steer Grimsby back into non-league this season since then. Managers have a shelf life, they may have been great in the past, but that doesn't mean for much in the current day if they've regressed a lot (see Clough, Wenger up in the first division). And as his record shows at Grimsby this season, maybe he doesn't know this league as well as you claim. I'd be worried that Slade will lead us out of the Football League completely if we hire him again (not to mention how many Coventry fans will probably boycott the team because of that action and Slade's rubbish not-even-football).

Michael Jolley was at our game on Saturday. Likely means absolutely nothing but he fits the bill of what we're after. I'd be delighted with him but we're not that lucky unfortunately. It's Wilkinson's job to lose.

Edit: I thought he was still with a club in Sweden but turns out he left last month so that makes it a little more likely. It's also said that he has applied but we know that's only half the battle.

Leading runners are Michael Jolley and Paul Harsley at the minute. Both unknown quantities but Jolley certainly had a decent spell in Sweden.

I'm sure we had Jolley turn up at our place briefly under Holdsworth as a coach.

Didn't seem to stick around for very long, though. In fact, I'm not sure many Lincoln fans would even remember he was with us (if it's the same one).

The mariners could do a lot worse than employing Paul Cox who is available and would keep you up.

I class finishing in the play offs as a promotion. A lesser promotion but still a promotion.
You mate are really weird.

I once read that even Coventry folk thought people from Nuneaton were weird, I can see why now.

Is it also true Nuneaton is like a big Council Estate with angry tennents and you use wheelbarrows instead of prams for your kids?

You did indeed. From his wiki page.....

In 2011 Jolley was selected as one of 16 coaches to participate in the inaugural FA Elite Coaches Award. In 2012 Jolley was appointed as First Team Coach at Lincoln City FC in the Blue Square Premier. In November 2012, he left to join Crewe Alexandra FC as an Academy Coach. In July 2013 Michael Jolley completed the FA Elite Coaches Award, one of 16 coaches globally to hold the award. In 2016, Jolley gained his UEFA Pro Licence, from the English Football Association.

The Jolley good fellow it is, Michael Jolley appointed.

Bold move Mr Fenty, something different to the 'merry go round'.
