I would imagine Sheff Wednesday's dwarfs everyone else but budgets are here or there. Got to spend it correctly as Salford have proven in L2! (Not saying Wednesday haven't by the way as expect them to win promotion!)

Our budget is a funny one anyway as we have a strict structure where a base wage is offered and then incentive based bonus payments (last season for example for each week we were within the top 7 spots), its partly why we missed out on permanently keeping Politic as we wouldn't break it as it risks damaging the unity we have and probably why we've taken a while to sign players.

We've also signed a few players for money this summer (and January) but its always undisclosed so we never know!
That’s exactly how we were structured when we had okocha, campo, Djorkaeff etc. base salaries weren’t as huge as people thought but big win and performance related bonuses. Probably why we finished 6th then 8th then 6th again in the prem in 3 seasons. I’m sure we’ll have some promotion related bonuses on offer this season too.

Ipswich will be on par if not bigger given the cash they have paid on fees in comparison.

Unlike Salford though we have the income to justify it with our attendances and revenue dwarfing most other teams in this league

Yeah to be fair Ipswich have very good attendances too and so did Sunderland last season. I think Wigan just went for it and it paid off.

Our numbers are growing again after a rough few years on and off the pitch. Finally getting a connection back between the club, the area, the owner, manager and players etc. it really feels like we are on the up again … but this is a really tough league to get out of. Not sure the positivity will still be there in the same way if we are still slugging it out in league 1 in 2/3 years which has happened to several clubs in recent years.

I love it when a player gets completely written off after one sighting. Santos was in the PFA League One team of the season last year. Which basically means that opposition strikers hate playing against him. Enough said really.
He clearly must have something about him. I suspect he's memorable to people because he's so big. We've seen him 3 times and each time we have pressured him and targeted him
When he's put under pressure he looks clumsy and ready for an error at any time. If he was so good someone from a higher league would have taken a chance on him by now, but I suspect they see what I've seen.

I fully expect we won't see a better keeper at Vale Park this season than Trafford, that save was world class, he is going the other way and somehow gets down to it when Harrison diverts the ball from 6 yards.

Whilst frustrated we didn't win the game in the end you have to credit his performance. England U21 isn't he?
Unbelievable save wasn't it? The vale fans were cheering because they thought it was in. He's got a bit of that arrogance about him too which all the best players have. Seemed extremely sure and confident. He did the old dive on the ball a bit too much but any keeper in that position is going to waste time. Against a poorer keeper, we could have easily nicked it.

Both keepers played well. The save from behind the goal looks even better. He won’t be at Bolton after Xmas if he keeps that level up.

Why?

You rarely see keepers recalled from season long loans and it suits City keeping him local

Probably get a Championship club sniffing if he’s as good as he was Saturday. If say one loses their keeper to injury.

City left Bazuna last season despite interest higher up and likely will do the same with Trafford.

Yeah think he recently made his debut for England U21s.

If I was betting man I’d put money on him playing in the PL and eventually playing for England.

of course he will be at Bolton after Christmas he is on a seasons long loan
Only chance of keeping him next season is promotion.
He has not suddenly become good on Saturday he signed a 4 year deal with Man City and is now the England u21 keeper.

Looking at that the ref could have blown for a foul on the keeper.

Finally, we know the answer so this won't turn into another "Who killed JFK?" or "Jet fuel can't melt steel beams" type deal. Phew!

I'm sure Bolton fans (and one player) were saying it was 3ft over the line. And that the ref was racist, and every decision went against the mighty Bolton. Just putting that to bed.

Exactly as it looked in the ground.

Knew their player completely cocked up the header. It hit his face.

Forget the header - definite foul on the Bolton player left of shot. Red card and penalty.

3 feet/1 yard over the line

their point about a captain having the right to discuss such an egregiously wrong decision is looking a little bit iffy now too considering that it was actually the right decision

Their owners son tweeted it was two foot over.

All looks very silly but in fairness the image did look a mile over from the angle. Guess that’s why Geoff Hirst debate still rages on today!

Mate

How dare you sully David Hirsts name by using the spelling for Sir Geoff
