Barrow make the trip south to Gloucestershire to play former regular non-league opponents Forest Green Rovers.
During those years there was only one season when both league games ended as draws. Barrow's last visit to the Shire in 2016 ended in a goalless draw.
Barrow's precarious position near base of table means they will be desperate to avoid a defeat. But this is a game where 2nd in table FGR will [on paper] expect a home win. But Barrow fans will rightly say that football is not played on paper.
Recent results are fairly similar for both clubs which must obviously offer Barrow a lot of comfort.
Having said all that I convinced the result will be a home win.

I predict:

Oldham p - p Exeter City

Looking at the weather forecast, I wonder if it would be beneficial to move the game to the Sunday.

Can't see us getting anything, despite anything being able to happen a la Southend’s and Stevenage's results last night.

What are the chances of this going ahead, temperatures in Nailsworth rarely getting a degree or two above freezing between now and the weekend?

The weather here today is sunny and dry.
Gloucestershire missed all that recent bad weather up north.
Long range local weather forecast for Saturday indicates game should go ahead.

Big game for us again. Was stunned Newport got beat by Southend after how awful they were against us so gives us some hope! Their form is worse than ours and 1 win in 10 so there is hope.

We’ve yet to beat them since they returned to the EFL though.

Hold a place in Vale history being the first opponents to play at the Wembley of the North in 1950 and a famous game in the 80s when Andy Jones rattled 5 in against his countrymen.

Hopefully Gibbons is back from illness after another Mills horror show at the weekend.

Maybe worth Swan getting a go after a promising cameo as well.

Need to be winning this after yesterday’s results really.

We’ve actually manhandled Harrogate with ease on the few occasions our paths have crossed. Fully expecting a solid P-P.

Our covers are on today as -8 reported by the met office this evening. Still hope to get it on though as we need to get back to winning ways.

I can’t remember the last time we had a home game postponed but this one is pushing it. The met office apps states -1C but fees like -7C at kick off on Saturday. And it’s barely getting above freezing all week before then.

But if we do get the game on then hopefully we can bounce back from the defeat last night. Southend won so they’ll take a bit of confidence into Saturday but we’ve got to be targeting a comfortable win.

Do any Mariners know if the game is likely to go ahead on Saturday ? I would imagine the close proximity of the sea has a luscious warming effect on the Blundell Park pitch.

I would say its rare for us to have a game postponed due to the weather, but since we removed the mounds to apparently improve drainage and then furlough our groundsmen this season there is a possibility if the weather is bad.

As I'm in Cyprus with central heating on because its bloody cold at 19C and clear skies there is a possibility it could be off due to frozen pitch!

Anybody know if there is much snow down Colchester and what are the odds of the game vs Mansfield being on this Saturday.

recent results suggest that Col U seem to be dropping like a stone, looks like a good time to play them as they seem to be out of form.

It offers us no comfort - we've lost three in four and seem a long way from being a cohesive unit. This game may as well be played on paper if only to avoid some injuries.

Would be fairly happy with a postponed game at Grimsby to be honest. A bit of a rest would do us some good!

I cannot ever remember one of our games being off with a frozen pitch.

Can’t tell if the warming effect is a joke but the proximity to the sea does indeed give us an extra degree or two so it’s always rare to be cold enough to get decent snow yet it’s still fucking freezing all year round

Not confident at all. Form has fallen off a cliff. Only positive for Saturday is that Labadie is back from suspension who has been badly missed. Will give an indication as to whether we can or can't pick up points on a decent pitch. May have to rely on points won away from home if we are to maintain a promotion challenge.

Lots of snow in the area over the past couple of days. Had a few more showers today but the sun has been out and the ground seems softer underfoot. Only problem is that it’s going to be around -10 tonight and then not get above freezing again until Sunday. Very slim chance of it being on I’d say.

Our pitch is a bit of a mess at the moment. Our keeper let a back pass bobble over his foot the other week!

No, I was being semi serious. We have a similar effect on the Wirral, with water on three sides.

Our pitch is nearly as shocking as our defence is. You can't play much football on it at the moment as its bobbly aa fuck. Anyway despite Newport recent poor form I still think they will beat us 2 nil or 2 1 as our defence is garbage.

Even if it is another effect of global warming, I'd be happy to see Grimsby v Rovers frozen off this weekend

I would rather it went ahead personally. It is a winnable game, whereas we have some very tough fixtures coming up in the weeks that follow.

Should be fine, chilly and sunny...probably windy too...typical conditions at TNL.

As a gesture I wonder if our club might consider lending our frost covers to Walsall...great for protection against a frozen pitch, and long throw-ins if deployed correctly...apparently!
