0-0 about right between us and Burton, we had the better of the game and chances, but we're not clinical enough in front of goal, if Agyei and Kelman aren't at it we don't seem to put teams to bed. We're a midtable team and it showed on us today.

Burton I didn't think were terrible, their game plan worked. Thought they lacked alot of quality in the final third which will ultimately see them go down I think.

Another clean sheet at least though, keeping alot of those recently, 7 in our last 10 in all comps I think.

Really poor fayre in truth. I thought we were pretty lethargic and Burton, for all their myriad faults, didn’t really have to do too much to get the point they came for. They dived, wasted time and worked their socks off out of possession whilst we lacked any idea of how to break them down.

Think Wellens has to take his share of the blame - what Ethan Galbraith and Jack Currie are doing sitting on the bench is beyond me.

I’m still weary of posting such stuff, but after having nearly half a season here, whereas it’s obvious about the top 6/7 whatever there isn’t really much between everyone else. the quality isn’t really massively different in those sides to league 2.

I suppose the only depressing/realistic view is that if you’re a club outside those 6/7 whatever realistically with how things are now, the only realistic exit route is back the way you came.

I've slagged Monk off before so only fair that i give him credit when it goes well, he absolutely nailed it today and his subs were spot on. A very well earned point, gives some optimism ahead of a tough and critical few games in the next few weeks.

A few signs of improvement at last as injured players return to the team.

Andre Green scored in his first start since last October and Wilkes and JCH seemed to be on the same wavelength for once, though Sam Nombe was strangely subdued after providing a goal for JCH.

Zac Jules is looking like the player we were promised and Odoffin stood in for Raggett really well.

We weren't great, but we didn't need to be today in all honesty.

I would imagine that was one of Northampton's worst performances of the season as they were the poorest team I've seen this season.

They have had some decent results away so I imagine it was just one of those days for them.

Hopefully it won't go to their heads and we can at last churn out some decent performances with results to match.

Our worst home performance this season. Felt let down by the side today and that’s a rare feeling watching Wrexham these days.

Cambridge looked way better than Shrewsbury, Northampton, Crawley ect.

We lost today at Peterborough. Gave them at least two sloppy goals. Got it back to 3-3 and then got caught on the break. I thought Peterborough's Mothersille is a good player at this level.

One word about the ref today, Thomas Parson. One of the most one side whistle bowers I have come across. He might as well had a Peterborough shirt on. He gave us absolutely nothing.

You did, not as poor as the others mentioned. Burton are the worst we've faced by some way though.

If Cambridge show that intensity in future matches, they'll do OK.

Just heard Parkinson in his post-match interview claiming Wrexham were in control throughout and never threatened apart from the penalty; if he really thinks that then he is dangerously deluded...

We are finally getting our better players back from injury. If they can all stay fit for the rest of the season I’m confident we’ll finish above all of those teams mentioned.

He's not really wrong about Cambridge never threatening, our defence did its job up until Brunt's error.

Score 3 away from home and don't even get a point!

Posh had most of the chances so deserved the win but both defences were shocking. For us going into a season without any full backs is criminally inept. Add in the injuriesand there is an excuse for Elliot but we need some reinforcements come January.

When the home side get a penalty for the forward throwing himself into the area then you know it's not going to go your way.
Haha definite pen. Defenders can't get involved in those type of ones, we gave an identical one away as well. You have to totally get out of the strikers way because he will slow down deliberately and then any clip of the legs and the ref will always give a pen.

Well in the end we gave Shrewsbury a good going-over, 4-1.

Fuck knows why, but they put Luke Leahy on the cover of their matchday programme, an old photo from when he was an STFC player…and today he got 2 assists against them. :ffs:
Another comfortable defeat. Our lot have no fight once we go behind.

The Leahy programme thing was just embarrassing. They did the same with Blackpool and Ollie Norburn too. Also weird our fans chanting for Dan Udoh. Yes he was a good servant, but don't chant his name during the game. Do it before or after!

With all due respect I wouldn't say I've seen a quality league 1 side yet this year, just functional teams. I think that is more to do with that no team has to get out of 2nd or 3rd gear to beat us fairly easily so can play within themselves

I’m honestly surprised by that, even at times when we played crap under Ainsworth, I could probably count on one hand the times I could say the players didn’t show any fight.

Even when we were not good enough in the Championship, and came straight back down, we rarely got thumped, and always at least competed. I guess those were his players though, who he had personally chosen.

Anyway, hope GA gets backed in January, even if it’s a big ask to keep you up at this stage, it’s important to build a solid foundation for the future.

He didn't say we dominated throughout at all, weird lot this Cambridge bunch. Think they only turned up to see Mullin. He said we were comfortable at 2-1 which we were, we've seen those sort of games out countless times this season and we all thought we would see it out.

From 2-1 up they didn't threaten us at all until the penalty. First half they could easily have scored a few more though, we couldn't handle their set pieces.

Whilst it's questionable whether Touray's foot even touches the diver's heel, that's academic because the theoretical contact is outside the area.

He's alluded to that in interviews in that he can't fault effort but not much he can do if the quality isn't there. After yesterday he said he's going to have to change the way he sets up the team to what he's done previously as the players aren't up to it. Major January overall required, but we'll be too far adrift by then. I think Ainsworth will come good if he can get his own players.

Another stat that's appeared is that we've only won 4 home games in 2024 across 3 managers:

January - Fleetwood (Taylor)
March - Carlisle (Hurst)
August - Orient (Hurst)
November - Birmingham (Ainsworth)

Got no chance if you can't win your home games, and also ship goals for fun.

It was a proper game of 2 halves today. First half we took it to Huddersfield, scoring 2 good goals, especially the 2nd. Really well worked and deservedly ahead.

Huddersfield were always going to come at us 2nd half, made a few changes, you just want us to hold out a little longer than we did for their 1st as it lifts the crowd. A potential pen they didn't get and then scored 2 mins before the end.

Would have settled for a point beforehand, frustrating the way the game panned out.
We love losing a 2-0 lead at Huddersfield!

I wasn't there, but I thought the subs looked a bit too negative, too early. To take all the front three of in the second half and then leave Draper up there on his own, bearing in mind his mobility is pretty poor, didn't seem a good move.

Went to game and mentioned to friends at half time how great Lincoln were in closing down our team but said no way could they keep that up for the 2nd half , thought it played a major factor in game the tempo was impossible to maintain and as the game wore on you just got deeper and deeper. Great game but still think we would have win it if the ref gives the penalty which I can’t fathom how he hasn’t.

That miss by Akins just looks worse each time you see it, like how the hell has he put that over.

Grest to see the compliments from the charlton fans over the racket Mansfield again, we don’t half travel well and loud.

Blues 2-0 Gas

We started like a train and got the early goal tru Lee Buchanan, great to see him back especially now Cochrane is crocked.

The penalty was harsh, the lad was a yard away and it was blasted at him, id have been miffed had it been given against us, from then on we did treat it like a bit of a practice match, we missed more chances usual story, but we didn't over exert ourselves second half, maybe thats by design, who knows.

For Rovers, they are clearly going thru a tough time and on the day they were 3rd in a 2 horse race, they have parted company with Taylor now and will hope for improvement, away fans class, best of the season IMO.

Onwards to creepy Crawley next

Yeah you didn't really have to get out of 1st gear. There is no fight in our lot which is the most disappointing thing.
We heard Cambridge giving it a go at Wrexham and wondered why we dont have any fight at all. Doesnt help when we treated the ball like a hot potato and kept giving it away the rare occasions we did have possession.
Might as well call us Bristol Rovers 0. Ive said for a while now we are the worst performing team in the league

PS Hope you give our rivals a good charles dicken in both games next season

If you carry that home record till around mid January, that'd be nice. Then do what you want :)
