Sorry, why would his mother and father in law know how much he earns? And why would they be sharing this information with their friends?

This is the real question here. I’m not sure Spearing would be happy that his in-laws would so readily disclose his personal finances to others if in fact they really knew what was in his contract.

They seem to be sharing with you and everybody on here who seems to know how much he gets paid. Why should their friends be missing out.

He doesn't care and i doubt many men can stop their wives talking to other people these days.

I remember this being discussed a year or two ago. I don't think anyone really cares what someone else earns but I think in laws/close friends would have at least an idea about what someone earns. I reckon I know everyone's salary in my close circle either because they've told me or mentioned something in passing, I know their job title, I can see their situation, or all of these apply. It might be more difficult to accurately guess for a pro footballer though!

He was very well paid during the first 8 years of his career. He isn't going to go hungry any time soon and has covered himself for the future. He does coaching at the Liverpool academy for their under 12s so clearly intends to remain in the game anyway.

Little example. A player getting paid an average of £3,000 a week for 10 years with 20% in bonuses on top would make £1,900,000 before tax and NI.
How many on here will make that much in their lifetime. The reason so many struggle after retirement is due to no forward thinking, something that Pat Nevin thinks should be part of every players time as a youth.
The reason few top players drop down the leagues these days is because they are rich by their early 20s and do not need to carry on playing if it stops being fun.

That also said we were paying Lee O'Connor £6,000 a week. He was on loan and was being paid nowhere near that by us. When somebody asked how Tranmere could pay £6,000 a week to Jay Spearing his wife laughed and said he wasn't even close to that at Blackpool. Nobody on here knows more than his family and relatives but you all seem to be experts.
I think their are some errors in that chart.

Max Watters was easily worth £3,900 a week for what he was doing for us but seeing as we were competing with a National South side to sign him, after his release from Doncaster, I very much doubt he was our highest paid player.
