Gillingham looked very poor yesterday, definitely the worst performance we have faced this season so far.

George Lapslie was brilliant again playing in that role just behind our only striker in Akins who had a great game again to be fair. I’m still worried about our lack of options upfront though, with Swan and Oates out we are basically left with Akins and Bowery but the latter usually plays wing back.

Hartigan, Clarke and Maris in midfield is working extremely well too. Quinn cannot currently get in that midfield and I think even Boateng will struggle once he’s back to start.

I enjoyed the result you polecat. I just didn’t think the performance was great and if we’re going to have this surge up the table that you keep talking about, we will have to improve.

The difference between you and I is that whilst Ive come to expect mediocre/shite from us, I do demand better and won’t be happy until we start producing good football, better performances and ultimately a better position in the table. I know that’s unlikely with the current owners but it’s still a thing I strive for. Where as you seem delighted with everything even when we’re stagnating and the standard of our football is poor, just so long as we get a win once a month. Doesn’t matter about the bigger picture with you does it.

We will get better come January, we've just been unfortunate with injuries and terrible refereeing etc but I'm confident that in the next transfer window we can buy Barrow's best players for around 10k which will be a huge fortune to them and we can hire their manager as an assistant to Simmo as I think he really needs one.

As for the bigger picture of things well we aren't doing as bad as you make us out to be, we've only lost 1 in 8 and we have had an injury crisis so once most of our players are fit we will be right up there!

So try and be less miserable because the future's bright..

Watch Paul Simpson’s YouTube post match interview Carver
He pretty much says exactly what I’ve said in the first 40 seconds on the interview.

So I guess he must be a miserable bore as well.

The ball hitting the arm isn’t an automatic penalty.

You are right, it’s not. But in this case he sticks his arm out in what would be described as an unnatural position, making his body bigger. It should have been handball.

He couldn't get out of the way. I would have been upset had that been given against us.

“He couldn’t get out of the way”

He literally sticks his arm out. He absolutely could get his arm out of the way, but he chose to stick it out.

It’s 100% handball. Anywhere else on the pitch that is blown up for hand ball.

Gunter knew it, his reaction was that of a relieved man.

Zero chance he was stopping a goal scoring opportunity.

What does stopping a goal scoring opportunity have to do with it being handball or not? Aren’t you thinking of the red card laws?

So next time gillingham play, if an opposition player decides to catch the ball with his hands in the centre circle, you wouldn’t deem it handball because it’s not a goal scoring opportunity?

Anyway it didn’t cost us, so no harm done. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. His refereeing of drop ball situations was embarrassing, him ducking out of booking players for shirt pulling… embarrassing.
It wasn’t all in wimbledons favour either.

Except he didn’t catch the ball in the penalty area, he’s pulling his arm down to avoid the ball.

Just because there’s contact with hand and ball means shit all I’m afraid.

Where have all the Crewe fans gone....are they still asleep after the bore fest yesterday?

I like hearing the opposition fans take on a game. A different perspective is always good.

Anyhoo, a low-margin game in E10 with very few chances. Decided by a couple of moments of class from Tom James and George Moncur in the build up to our goal. We just have the quality to decide games in decisive moments. Promising stuff.

Walsall dropped off after a decent first half and offered absolutely nothing going forward even after going behind. Johnson was the absolute fraud of a footballer he always is. Thought Maddox and - particularly - Monthe had good games.
We dont have a focal point up top thats why we wanted Smith from you.Johnson is a penalty box player nothing else Andy Williams looks too old now god knows why we signed him Abraham is crap and Douglas Taylor aint ready for mens football yet.
Only one showing promise is Tom Knowles and he was missing yesterday some of our fans are starting to turn already Pomletts nonsence does him no favours.

Not sure if you are on a wind up or not as it is clearly a handball and penalty. If the arm is stuck out like that and the ball hits it then it’s handball, the rules are pretty clear. Only defence for the ref is the angle of the player, it is possible that he didn’t actually see it.

You’re the one who started bringing up denying a goal scoring opportunity? That’s why I made the catching the ball in the centre circle comparison because it’s about as relevant as what you were saying.

And it isn’t “just because there’s contact with the hand”, you can clearly see that his arm is out in an unnatural position making his body unnaturally bigger. These are the rules, nothing about having to be denying a goal scoring chance.

Who scores the goals when he’s injured/suspended?

Kian Harratt or Vadaine Oliver. They haven’t had a sniff because Cook’s on fire.

Jake Young’s on 4 goals from the wing and we’ve had 6 other different scorers. It hasn’t just been the Cook show.

So 2 on here think it was a pen and 2 think it wasn't. On the basis, ref's have no chance of pleasing the crowd.

It’s a question that could be asked to anyone, often the most successful teams have a scorer well ahead of most in the league let alone their own team mates. Key is to hopefully keep our main players fit, we have had one our since the start of the season another who will bring goals in Jamie Walker but we keep going.

But Cookie does nothing but score goals. Great wisdom from the tub of lard previously known as Evans.

Ssshh.

You’re not allowed to mention that clough had all season to bring in a forward and a CB which has left us short in both

I was stood behind the goal. Gunter knew it was a penalty. He instantly looked at the ref waiting for him to point to the spot, sheepishly walking away and continuously glancing at him because he couldn't believe his luck.

Personally think the handball rule is now a total farce. His arm was there, your arm often isn’t pinned to your side playing football. I’d like it to go back to deliberate intention and those deliberately diving extending their bodies with goalkeeper style saves. Someone smashing a ball against an arm 2 yards away or less just seems way too much down to luck. I remember going to the Olympics to watch hockey back in 2012, the whole game revolved around getting into the penalty area and looking to smash it against opponents’ feet (total bore fest) - we aren’t far off that farce!

Course he looked at the ref. He knew with the inconsistency we have, some refs would give it, some wouldn't. We have all seen pens give when a ball is smashed against someone's hand, some in our favour, some against. I repeat, I would have been very disappointed had that been given against us.
