There are loads of injuries knocking about and there seems to be an increase every year.

I'm sure there's a reason but I can't find it. Squads are deeper now, more players get used throughout a season, more subs in games., it's less of a contact sport, pitches are better. I think the game is a bit faster these days, I wonder whether an increase in backroom staff on things like the Physio side lead to more "knocks" simply not getting played through as much.

Barrow for us. Speaking of cup finals, this is mine because of the way Peter "Pete Wild" Wild winds me up. We're due a result against them you'd hope.
You've mentioned some good points.
H&S is now paramount than in bygone days when a player was told to run off their injuries.

Seems to happen season after season at Mansfield. Saying that, we’ve 6 out already due to injury/illness but nothing season ending.

It’s certainly been a conversation between fans which has been pretty heated at times.

All sides suffer from injuries and each club will have time over the season where they’re a bit fucked, but with us it’s very much the debate of us it all bad luck?

As conker says a few if the injuries are just bad luck when you’re out for the season (obviously most for the player) but the question is for the others is some of it how or where we train etc.

Mullin being out weakens us and is irreplaceable but I'm not sure any of the others get in the starting XI with the possible exception of McClean, who we don't know too much about. Mendy was excellent on Tuesday night, I'm not sure McClean walks back in if Mendy keeps putting in those performances. Please god, don't let Parky play McClean in the middle again either.
Can't really argue about that. McClean was put in a role he's probably not played in for a good while after being LWB in Wigan for pretty much the whole season.

Hayden, for his brilliant winning ariel battles, doesn't beat EOC, that man just oozes class and doesn't really put a bad performance in (with the exception of MKD). Tunni is the same, had to wait to start last season but he was a rock, but again we have a natural left footed defender who has Championship experience.

Davies is a weird one, we all want to see that Davies from 2 seasons ago where everything he touched turned into goals, but it seems like he likes the comfort of the treatment table, along with Bryce. There is a footballer in him somewhere, but too injury prone for my liking.

Mullin is, as you say, irreplaceable at the minute. A few lads I work with who watched some of our games last season said the same thing as Page, where he is an absolute rat and a complete forward. We don't have anyone else similar to him or what he can do at the club. Bickers might be the answer, but a long way off that level.

Only 3 (4) games in and we have quite a list of injuries at the moment. Hopefully with the use of 5 subs and a good squad depth means we can rotate a fair bit to keep the freshness in the squad.

We’ve just Tweeted that 7600 tickets have so far been sold for our game so ready for the official attendance tomorrow to be announced as about 6850.

Any reason why we got about 100 less than late last season?

Yeah the club noticed you were getting a bit too close to us on the away averages table so thought we’d scupper you a little bit.

I'm a big fan of EOC, but I'm less sure between him and a fit Aaron Hayden as you two - we miss his aggression in both boxes when he doesn't play.

The others are all players who would likely feature in a matchday 18 rather than be obvious starters (apart from Mullin, who is first in the team sheet).

If by close you mean beating you then fair enough.

In fairness it’s the worst away stand in the league, a strong gust and the thing could topple over, maybe it’s for health and safety.

Yep they knock a ticket off every time a Mansfield fan whinges about our away end on the internet. Have heard they are still counting Adam Stag's posts and your entire allocation is about to be halved.

I’m actually bemused, and slightly jealous they even let you open that end. Bishop street is in better nick!

On to more important matters, I’ll happily take a point tomorrow. I just hope it’s not another Crewe/Donny feeling of wondering how we’ve not won.

Why isn't the Bishop Street bus stop operating? Not enough demand to increase capacity? Too costly? Planning issues?

Surely it would be have been worth converting it into a full pitch length terrace at worse, or a shallow stand to add a couple more thousand to the Field Mill capacity?

Think I've said before, I've never been in it before. I'm probably gonna do it next time I go to a home game now we've opened it up to home fans. Will be interesting to see if it's that much worse than The Main Stand.

Very true, happened too often last season too. Should’ve won tuesday night at a canter and didn’t, only ourselves to blame.

If you think our away end is bad, have you ever been to Bloomfield Road before it was redeveloped?
That was a cracker.

I’ll still take the risk of a massive fire hazard like Grimsby away end in comparison to quite a few tinpotters at this level that are missing a roof.

The wooden one?

I remember going there midway through redevelopment, when they'd moved the pitch forty yards away but kept the old stand open. View was almost as good as Don Valley or the Withdean

Mansfield getting dangerously close to Lincoln levels of excuses about why they don’t travel. This is the first time I can ever remember them selling out and we only reduced the allocation last year!

Roofs are overrated. Just look at the Nou Camp.

No this one was just a load of concrete steps with a couple of metal bars to lean on and if you were at the front you needed to be about 6”4 to see the pitch. Just proper manky and we got stuck in traffic and didn’t get there until just before half time.
We had to walk down this dingy alleyway to get to the away end.
Just as Blackpool fucking scored.

I’ll try and find the highlights of the game later so you can see what I mean.

TBF wasn’t it just the standard away end at the time (80s). Stood there a few times, even had to be moved to the terrace under cover (left as you looked) due to the weather. Away end at Chesterfields old ground was dreadful.

This was the game I was at, bit different to how I remember the steps as looking at this it looks like the view from the front would be ok but I’m sure I could barely see the pitch, although it was 25 years ago so my memory is a bit more frazzled than it was then.

I'd take those levels of goal celebrations nowadays, no fannying about doing weird dances, just a few high fives and back to kick off.
