Obviously happy with the result, especially as we were two down..

But that’s 20 league games without a win now, a joint club record I believe.

comical stuff. A single player (Harbottle) has cost us two points. We were in complete control, we just assumed we won the game. Shocking.

Delighted with that, has to give the players a bit of belief now. Club record 20 games now but a point is canny.

Not much more to be said, Mansfield by far the better side but for once we've had it go for us. Umerah should never be dropped again. Absolutely beasted their backline when he came on and to be honest we could've nicked it at the end.

Really did show some guts , we are a shite team but there's hope.

I think the fact our players thought at 2-0 this was all wrapped up is very strange for this side and any under Clough. The two mistakes for the goals wow incredible stuff

Another issue is how wasteful we are, if the game was wrapped up at half-time there be no complaints but we love wasting chances and making it difficult.

Great point for Hartlepool, admittedly you did near enough nothing but it’s a great result that should give some confidence going forward and the lad who came on did a good job terrorising our defenders who completely lost their heads.

that’s got to be the most ridiculous result i’ve seen in years.

Hartlepool could barely pass the ball to each other let alone anything else and we go and commit suicide.

Playing 1 uptop to bottom of the league is bordering on negligence by clough, and his tactics were found wanting.

Points chucked away,

Umerah is key to keeping us up, everyone gobsmacked he didn't start. Might've been to give him a kick up the arse, we don't know what goes on in training, but he answered him back superb. He's ideal for Curleball. He has to play every game.

We were crap otherwise mind, gave up 40 crosses, mostly down Tumilty & Murray's side. Outpassed and pulled about all night. Midfield except Sylla non-existent, drab direct balls into the channels all night. Thing is we do have some pace and strength up front so we can get some joy from that if the oppo isn't switched on and that's exactly what happened.

Good footballing side you lot have, all the best for the season.,

Crackers that Umerah was benched, Ndjoli has some pace and some skill but he’s not a lone striker, would love to see some combination of Umerah/Ndjoli/Oduor in a front three.

Aye I thought Crawford was rotten tonight, dunno were Tumilty was playing? Murray at RB? Mansfield seemed to have acres of space on both wings, dunno if that was by design or what.

Umerah was dragged early in Curle’s first game in charge as well. When I seen team tonight I assumed if he was gonna be one of the ones he just doesn’t fancy.

Hopefully that is all put to bed now though with that performance off the bench

Today was cloughs problem, he’s got the tactics sorted away but the starting xi to bottom of the league - who then went on to show why they were bottom of the league was criminal.

He should have changed it at half time, should have changed it at 2-0 and then made subs too late.

Clearly hartlepools goal was our fault but he’s had a massive off day today

Them three and chuck McDonald in the mix either starting or off the bench and that could cause sides problems. We're probs not solid enough behind to start all three mind.

Crawford suits a more possession-based game really, he's not box to box which you need more of in direct setups such as ours, Shelton I've asked to be picked numerous times but doesn't look up to it. You can sort of see why we're playing it long as our strengths are most certainly not in midfield.

No idea about the defensive makeup tonight but it's poor whatever combo we put out.

I don’t put the blame towards Clough for that, although admittedly I would have started Swan and Akins upfront and we were wasteful ultimately it was our defenders in particular being complacent that cost us the win and not nige.

Harbottle has done really well this season but it is his first season as a proper pro playing so you do just need to let him off for being at fault for both goals in my opinion.

Odour looks pretty good,I think him & Umerha could be a good partnership.
McDonlad flatters to deceive & I just don’t think Ndjoli is that good, much prefer Joel Gray.
As for Crawford,I’ve always wondered what the fuss was about, slow, not a good passer of the ball & doesn’t get any goals.
When Niang is back from injury,I can see him & Sylla being in midfield,2 strong combative players to get the ball forward quickly.

Problem with that is neither of them are good in possession at all. More there just to break up play, and neither are the most mobile either.

He had an off night tonight but Crawford is our best midfielder when in possession now that Featherstones legs have gone.

Admittedly none of them are the greatest.

there’s no excuse for failing to win today, blunt as it is hartlepool were hopeless, they could barely pass the ball.

I’ve nothing against hartlepool and wish them well and they got the point they came for but clough has had a mare.

Had swan started we’d have been deservedly out of sight and this wouldn’t have happened

I think those two will play,as you say,to break up the oppositions midfield.
I can see our midfield being bypassed with ball‘s into the channels,to turn the opposition defenders.

IMO Curle does not have a problem with Umerah, But his play has at times has been poor and predictable.
A CF who fights with CBs 30yds from goal is not what is needed, as was proven last night.

If he had been batteling with a CB, He would not have latched on to the back pass.
Same with the ball played beyond the defender, Which was a perfect percentage pass.

Curle will get the best out of ordinary players, Have faith.

And to all pools supporters get rid of the "Dickie Dosh" mentality.

If it had not been for a last gasp tackle at the death it would have been 3 points.

Said the same to a mate who was saying its all long ball shite, well we passed it around the back and sides under Hartley and we were shit. No threat because we haven't got the players to play like Orient or Mansfield.

Style wise it's a work in progress but Curle hitting the right notes for me post match. Said we're not good enough with the ball and not hitting the right areas to take advantage of the options we have upfront. That can improve and to be honest I can see a lift in players body language and fitness levels under them. Hopefully he can turn us around, we'll be in trouble all season I reckon but there could be a few worse sides than us. Gills and Col U looked poorer than us for a start.

Definitely something to build on and hopefully a good confidence boost for the back to back home games.

Its easy to fall into the trap of putting your own players under the microscope.
Even under Hartley(who i thought was dross) . When you look back at some of those games we
Could very easily have another 6-8 points on the board and we were playing poor at times.

These next two games are critical, Its also possible that 1 or 2 players could be coming through the door.
If Curle needs them before January, And Magurie could be a massive factor.

Excatley.
Umerah looked a different player last night, running onto the ball, rather than having his back to goal.
The way the defender,Hawkins I think, bounced off him when he equalised was funny as feck.

As I predicted. Halliday, Critchlow and Wright all come in.

Strongest XI barring the obvious injuries.

I would back Umerah against any CB in our Lge going forward, He,s physicaly one of the strongest CFs i,ve seen.
BUT not with his back to goal having a personal battle, Got to be smarter than that, And i think Curle
Will do just that and improve him no end.

1-0 Cook. Silly challenge and we get a penalty- first of the season for us. Deserved lead. We're much the better side.
