Interesting Rovers line-up with two defensive midfielders protecting the back four. A bit short of attacking options on the bench if the initial formation doesn't deliver. No idea how this is going to pan out, but a stronger starting xi than I'd anticipated

Who would you take out of our team to put him in right now? He wouldn't have the legs to play in our team if he can't play twice a week...with the way we press. Fantastic player in his prime and I'm sure still technically brilliant. Playing twice a week/fitness is a huge part of being a great player at this level. Would he get in over Sarcevic? Kieran Lee? In his prime...yes? Now... not for me. Still a great player for this level though. Will he play on next season?

In his prime he obviously isn't in this league but if you have a player like him in your squad you build a team around him. If you wish to compare him to players who are doing the high press and running distance off the charts that's no comparison because he's 38. However, my original post stated he's the best player in the league which I think he is.

Please don't mention what's his face Lee in the same breath as Hoolahan again.

I've been trying to ask myself why we've become so bad, from being so good, and you just drive yourself mad going round in circles. Was everyone just on form at the same time and now off form at the same time instead of usually having some on some off? I've never known a collapse so depressing and want the season to end so we can put those questions to bed and go again.

We have some capable players that have potential to develop and some extremely poor players that simply aren’t up to it. But even the good footballers believed their own hype and have now completely lost form and don’t have the character to dig in and turn things round.

I don’t want a squad overhaul in the summer. We’ve been doing it e dry season and it just puts us back to square 1. The young players will learn a lot from this experience of being shite. Just need to add some better quality in certain areas and try to offload some of the rubbish e.g McDonald

I think Mellish is shit. It was great when he scored goals but his inability to control and pass a football really hinders us as a team.

Based on the second half we probably deserved the win there, a good away performance from ourselves and we managed to take the only clear cut chance we created. Newport had their moments in the first half.

Newport I thought were a still a good side - But looked laboured to me, after we scored they seemed to lose belief, even after making all 5 subs.

Good to see us finally put in a 90min performance.
