Strangely routine today, should’ve been a lot more comfortable. Colchester barely troubled our defence, which is a crime.

A crime but an end of season dead rubber game for both sides and they did hit the woodwork so not punishable.

The lesser spotted Meadow Lane clean sheet but the oh so common Langstaff goal. All he does is score goals :bg:

Wimbledon seemed much more up for it in the second half, but the red card helped Rovers to get across the line.

All I can think of in our defence is that the number of games in recent weeks has caught up with us and today may have been one too far. Lots of injuries, bench down to the bare bones and the players out there running on empty.

Certainly not a dead rubber for us!

My sincerest apologies, the performance suggested you were on the beach and playing for a draw was too ambitious for the players.

I didn't realise Sutton still had a chance before today although that late goal was an absolute killer.

Was a very odd performance, even at 1-0 it was like you were playing just to keep it that way.

For a dead rubber game played purely for pride, by both teams, that was entertaining, at times. Have to say the better team on the day won.

Felt a bit for gillingham, first half we looked like we stumbled out of the pub and hadn’t a clue, fell behind to a lucky goal through deflections.

2nd half thought we’d best give it a go and put some first teamers on and just toyed with them from 50 mins on, 2 top quality goals.

Who’s that number 8? easily the most hopeless player i’ve seen this season; what’s the fuck lol

With the goal difference swing now needed, I wouldn't object too much if we only lost 1-0 to Doncaster on Tuesday either to be honest.

I don’t feel sorry for them, they were awful going forward and for the money spent to be that uninspiring really does take some doing. Decent finish for their goal but obviously pales in comparison to our two beauties.

Like you said we still looked pissed in the first half but came out in the second strong, once we brought on Quinn, DKD and Clarke only one winner.

So that’s what it’s like to win 1-0…They were terrible, didn’t look like a Danny Cowley side at all, not in terms of effort anyway.

Thought it was a fantastic game versus Crawley. Easily the best side outside Stockport we’ve seen offensively. And give you a chance the other way. Nice crowd too for us. Shame about the last minute slip as a bit of hope might have seeped back in but at least Crawley didn’t relegate us on our home ground.

Cowley claiming our goal came ‘against the run of play’ is straight in at number one as the maddest thing I’ve ever heard a manager say.

That sounded absolutely abysmal today and an attack vs defence training exercise. So relieved at that late equaliser from Crawley, big up Klaidi Lolos.
It was, you had pretty much nothing. Entirely one sided but I was still worried we'd conspire to gift you a goal somehow.

I can't believe it either. You're one of the worst teams we've played home and away but you are still in with a chance.a
Shows what a poor division this is

I agree.
Earlier on in the season it was a good, open game between two evenly matched sides. You only got a point due to the ref having a brain fart and forgetting the rules.
Since then, however, you have maintained your form and kicked on, whereas we have regressed massively.
It is difficult to put your finger on why. It isn’t just the sacking of Harris as we had two points from his last seven games.
We were completely battered second half yesterday and looked like a genuine mid table league 2 team, as we have for months.
A lot of work to do in the summer to get to where we, and the owners, want to be.
Good luck in League One Stags, it is about time and fully deserved.

How the fuck are we still in with a chance here?

We should have stuck with Alexander clearly. Same result, play-offs. He was just getting warmed up at MK.

I thought that about Stockport and Wrexham tbh, and they’ve gone up.

The league is dogshit!

In my view, the incident with McLean is a fair yellow for both parties. Rowe wipes him out and the reaction is borderline red card worthy from McLean. Think Parkinson realised he was somewhat fortunate by subbing him at HT.

The Cooney red for me was a push. It's soft, but it gets given 9 times out of 10. Strikers rarely get the benefit of the doubt over defenders. The red I can't argue with.
Only seen stills of the first incident so hard to assess.

I'd have been livid if one of our players was given a red card like the one dished out to Cooney. Even if the referee didn't feel that Mullin's push amounted to a foul and because Cooney's arms were away from his body it did amount to handball, the incident takes place just inside the Crewe half. There is a covering defender further back and for all PMs strengths, electric pace isn't amongst them. Yellow card at worst for me.

Raised a smile when Grimsby got that second to be fair, glad they are officially safe.
Lovely finish as well, one of the those ones that was hit well enough to be very satisfying.

I thought it was a bit of a strange call, it's never a foul by Mullin but the ref easily could have given a yellow and it wouldn't have been thought of again, especially as he let us off the hook a little with McClean.

Crewe looked to have no creativity or different ideas up front and just generally looked shattered, which vibes with what has been said about them missing players and not being able to rest or rotate.

You would worry limping into the play-offs like that for sure, but of the teams currently in the play-off places I think I'd want them to come with us. (Prefer Doncaster though as I had a tenner on them to be promoted at 18-1 a few weeks back).
