We don't have that, yet. Were meant to get it installed in the summer but everything has been delayed till the end of this season now.
I can’t believe the money swilling around at Wrexham at the moment and they haven’t yet invested in undersoil hesting . Visited Wrexham for our Tuesday night game last month , suprised me how poor the stadium still was considering it seems quite a substantial amount as been already invested, just goes to show how expensive and difficult it really is to take a club like Wrexham up to proper championship standard from non league , because getting it right on the pitch eventually collapses if the infrastructure isn’t up to standard . I’m sure you will make the championship but the fun really begins then, money is there for you though so no reason why you won’t continue to achieve.
I think Huddersfield spent 10 million on reaching the PL just updating a reasonably modern stadium upto premier league regulations, crazy really.
One thing I will say though is that the journey is more fun than the destiny so enjoy every second.

We haven't got going in terms of stadium development, yet. In the summer, we were meant to move the dugouts to the other side, lay the bit part plasticy types of pitches you get in the premier league, and the new kop stand was meant to have been built by now if the original plans were stuck to.

The only thing they have spent money on is the concourse behind the goal, adding a new corporate box in the mold road stand (opposite to where away fans go), and add a temp stand. Oh, and red seats that replaces the blue seats at the town end of the same stand as away fans go to.

We have been selected as a ground to help host the euro 2026 finals for the under 19s, so the owners want the kop built by then, but everything down to finances, legalities and everything in between is holding the new development up.

Obviously with not playing Wrexham for must be nearly 30!years bar this year, you here and read what’s happening even watched an odd episode of the Netflix program and my ecxpectations were that you’d moved the stadium much further on than it is, but like you’ve said above these things take time and much patience the good thing for Wrexham fans is it seems your American/Canadian owners have plenty , so even though I wouldn’t wish you good luck over my beloved terriers I am happy for any clubs of our ilk to progress and shove one up the big boys .

Stockport County.
Can't be underestimated how quick Wrexham have risen up. Very hard for off the pitch aspects to catch up with such a rapid on the pitch aspect. We're similar.

This is why I don't think it would be bad for them to consolidate a bit at this level and pursue infastructure improvements in that period. I don't think they're Championship ready. I come to this conclusion because we're in the same boat (albeit with much less financial resource at our disposal to do infastructure improvements as quick).

Also it probably shouldn't be understimated how hard it is to re-develop an existing ground that you're currently living and playing in every other week. If Wrexham have promised to stay at the Racecourse then they are once again in the exact same position as us where we have promised no out of town soul devoid stadium and that we want to stick at Edgeley Park. There's no doubt a new stadium with fuck all round it is easier but maybe not as worthwhile. I'm happy with our choice on that.

I agree, off the pitch does need to catch up. We don't have a training ground that is ours at the moment. We have a league 1 side, with national league north style facilities. I think the term 'can't afford to go up' rings true for both us and Stockport. Let the behind the scenes catch up first, then go again in stages.

If we did the unthinkable and do go up this season, there is only 1 way we're heading next season and it aint up.

Staying at your ground may cost more, and take a lot longer but it’s still the best option in my opinion, because a new build will never properly replace it.

Been talk at times maybe it’s best we moved from Field Mill, but a slow gradual improvement is fortunately the way we are going.

Plus we’d lose the worlds oldest professional football stadium tag!

Yeah the location is superb. Near the train station and a short walk into town where there's plenty of boozers.

I'd be gutted if we moved to a retail park that is over an hour's walk from the town, lime Shrewsbury. Absolutely soulless.

I walked from Shrewsbury to the ground and it didn't take me that long. There are worse places.

Fifteen years of underinvestment (most of which the club didn't own the ground) has really taken it's toll on the stadium. There has been cosmetic changes but more substantial investment is needed. It's being planned for but will take time to carry out.

As others have said it may be a better, cheaper option to ultimately move but that would be a huge shame. Really hope we renovate instead.

Yes I’m glad we are redeveloping, not moving. Haven’t seen the plans yet as the club is doing extensive consultation with interested bodies before submitting planning permissions, which is sensible, if a bit frustrating in update terms for the fans. I remember Wrexham’s ground from our conference days, it really did need a lot of work and that is particularly difficult to do in situ. Their rise on the pitch from the starting point they were at has been very fast, but I think they could do with a stabilisation period. You can’t just romp through the leagues like we did in the 80’s and 90’s. The Championship is different gravy these days, and I’m not sure it would be good for the club in the longer term, to go up, crash back down and waste £££ on players wages if the rest of the club isn’t ready. To some extent that is what has happened to us with promotion to this league, let alone the next one up.

Thing is though shrewsbury is just one of those out of town identikit stadiums - no character, no atmosphere, no history it’s just meh.

Though Gay Meadow was a class ground it’s understandable they had to move but still meh.

As the wrexham fans said would be daft for them to move grounds given the location of the ground - like us the grounds in a great location in relation to the town and station.

Shrewsbury were forced to move because of Health and Safety if I recall correctly. One road in and one road out (that road also being a dead end) was a recipe for disaster in the 21st century with all the requirements surrounding emergency services, evacuation protocols and the like at games. Great ground mind and one that is sorely missed.

With land at a premium in Shrewsbury and most the undeveloped land being on a floodplain (a problem Chester also experienced when looking for land for a new stadium) they were constrained as to where they could move and the result is a stadium behind a retail park to the south of the town. Luckily for Shrewsbury, they own all the land around it so they've made it work and improved the team considerably since they moved.

Wrexham always one of my favourite grounds. Must be redeveloped on site at all costs rather than relocated. Else they'll end up in a field near Gresford or playing on the Industrial Estate and no football fan wants that. You just have to look at Chester for how and where not to build a new stadium for a start.

As soon as figures around 100m for a new stadium are quoted plans will be put in place to play future home games in Florida. Rexham Red Sox will ground share with Beckhams Miami.
Not all bad news the Sox will soon have a derby with the Burminham Bulls

And Bolton would still struggle in the depths of league 1, merging with Wigan Warriors.

Agree with Stocky r.e. consolidating after a quick rise. Finance wise they're obviously in a different boat but trying to keep improving off the pitch at the same rate as what's happening on it is nigh on impossible as we found as well. I dread to think what sort off additional spend and facilities you'd need to implement in the Championship.

We had a breather for a different reason, we just had to change tact and build a way of doing things on the pitch to enable us to overachieve every season and finish in the top half.

On the Stadium discussion, I think most have looked at moving in recent times. We have as part of a massive development near the University but any potential stadium is one of the last things to be built so it'll not happen for 25/30+ years at least, which is why we're in the really early stages of seeing how much it'll cost to do something our stand opposite the main one.

That said, it's what we all love about these lower league stadiums though, right? Yeah, ok, we have a stand that only runs down about a third of the pitch and it might look shit, but it's our shit and tells a story about when we got relegated in 1987 and promoted again in 1988.

Mansfield have three stands and opposite their main one is an eyesore, but it's there eyesore. Cambridge's old away end is set back from the pitch more than any other stand, which is a bit weird - but it's their weird. Posh's old terraced away was that flat there were times you couldn't see anything, likewise at Kettering. Shrewsbury and Chesterfield both had terrible outdoor toilets at their old stadiums - but it's their terrible. Wrexham and Stockport both have stands behind the goals with no roof - it's wet and windy, but it's their wet and windy. I think in the lower leagues there's almost a sense of pride that a stadium isn't perfect and that it has something quirky or not quite right with it.

These new Stadiums are probably great commercially but we've all been in some stadiums and stands on a cold midweek night in February that are that bad, they're good - and they're the ones everyone will talk about for years on end. "Remember that time when...?!"

Not as far fetched as that seems, before the DW lego stadium was built the Rugby team looked at sharing the Reebok
No interest in Rugby league in Bolton so that was never a goer.
You can move into Wigans lego stadium when the football team moves out in the next year or so

Sadly we were done over by the last chairman, had the ground been moved 5-10 feet further from the houses behind the stand it would’nt have been a problem - sadly it wasn’t - it’s still better to have a 2 tier “larger” stand than have 2 smaller stands IMO.

We are doing it up and hope to have it sorted by the start of next season.

It's over a 40 minute walk from the centre, were you actually in Shrewsbury?

No arguments from me. Huddersfield’s now an old modern stadium and actually pretty good for “ new stadia” the atmosphere when gaining promotion and in the first year in PL was on another level and was a joy to be part of, since then a few years of turgid football as pretty much brought a feeling of meh for supporters
But one of the good things to come about from our demise is visiting grounds like you have talked about above , the only downside to that is that attendances have risen since we were last here all over the country and away end allocations are often appalling and only around the 1000 fan mark , which is very frustrating as a fan who loves traveling away with my club.

Got to totally agree though the character of old stadium is a thing to old onto and one any fan will miss who truly gets football if a club moves.
